The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.

Why Be Discouraged?
By: Robert A. Searles
Are you cast down this morning and depressed? Are you weary and discouraged? Why should Christians be discouraged when we have such a great inheritance in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who gave himself for us so that we might have and enjoy life, and have it more abundantly?
We are alive; we have the hope and promise of eternal life with God in paradise; we live in America, where thus far, we are free to worship as we please; we have a wonderful Savior who is our advocate in heaven; we have food, clothing, and shelter, and many creature comforts to make our lives easier. Even in times of suffering and great loss and grief, we have the promises of God's presence, his comfort and his grace to see us through.
"Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God." Psalm 43:5 (KJV) Bible.
This is the day that the Lord hath made. Rejoice and be glad in it. Rejoice I say in the Lord.

The God Fearing Family
Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways. 2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. 3 Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. 4 Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord. 5 The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life. 6 Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel. Psalm 128 KJV) Bible

Pray For One Another
To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day>" 2 Timothy 1: 2, 3 (KJV) Bible.
How should we pray for one another? We ought to pray for each other as Paul prayed for Timothy -that God would give to our beloved wife, husband, children, parents, or friends, - grace, mercy, and peace. Grace - the unearned gifts from God, God's unmeritred favor, underserved forgiveness and pardon, unearned, and undeserved eternal, everlasting life, and undeserved provision for their moment by moment needs.
Mercy - God's infinite compassion for us, that is, God not pouring out his wrath and judgments on us when he would be justified and righteous in so doing, also, God's willingness to come more than half way to meet and greet the runaway prodigal and rebellious child, and welcome him back into the family .
Peace - That peace that only God can give to comfort our hearts when we are in the center of his will, a sense of well being, and knowing that everything is all right in our Father's house, and so it is well with us who are his children
May we learn to pray for one another that God would grant his grace, mercy, and peace, even as Paul prayed for Timothy.

Wait On The Lord
By Robert A. Searles
"Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait I say on the Lord" Psalm 27: 14 (KJV) Bible.
One of the most difficult lessons we must learn as the children of God is to realize that God's ways are not our ways, and God's timing is not our timing. We want things, and we want them now, and even yesteray, if that were possible. God has told us in his word that whatsoever things we have need of, to ask of him and he will provide them for us as he sees fit. God knows and sees the end from the beginning, and the beginning from the end, and he knows what is best for us, and the right time for answering our petitions.
We know that God will not withhold any good thing from us if it will profit us and bring glory to himself. When we have learned this lesson to wait patiently for God to fulfill his purposes in our lives, then we have great peace and contentment in knowing that however long it takes, God will come to our rescue and meet all our needs.

Come Worship the Lord With Me
By: Robert A. Searles
Come, worship the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. Worshipping the Lord ought to be our first order of business each and every day. Let us begin our day by reverencing, adoring, loving, and admiring him with our whole heart. Let us be grateful for his loving kindness and tender mercies that he bestows upon us momentarily.
"Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness." 1 Chronicles 16:29. (KJV) bible. "Oh come let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our maker." Psalm 95:6 (KJV) Bible
True worship of the Lord is not to be found in rituals or ceremonies, but is an act of the will, and the heart. We must worship in spirit and in truth. True worship of our Lord is to reverence, adore, love and admire, and be grateful from the depth of our heart.
"God is spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." John 4:24 (KJV) Bible. Before we can expect God to answer our prayers we must first worship him.
"While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him saying, my daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her and she shall live. And Jesus arose and followed him, and so did his disciples." Matthew 9:18,19. (KJV)Bible. This man, before he asked Jesus to raise his daughter, came and worshipped him.
"And behold, a woman which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: for she said within herself, if I may but touch his garment I shall be whole." Matthew 9:20,21 (KJV) Bible. The very thought that this woman had in her mind that if she could just touch his garment she would be healed was an act of worship in her spirit. Jesus rewarded her for her faith.
"But Jesus turned him about and when he saw her he said: daughter, be of good comfort, thy faith hath made thee whole, and the woman was made whole from that hour." Matthew 9: 22 (KJV) Bible

By Robert A. Searles
"Cause me to hear thy loving kindness in the morning; for in thee do i trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. Deliver me, O Lord from mine enemies; I flee unto thee to hide me. Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness. Quicken me, O Lord, for thy name's sake: for thy righteousness sake bring my soul out of trouble. And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant." Psalm 143: 8-12 (KJV) Bible
What better way could there be for each of us to begin each day than to meet alone with God in the quietness of our secret chamber. Begin the day with worship, and praise to God, and ask him to speak to us through his word, and by the Holy Spirit, and let us sense his love and concern for us. If we ask in faith, and sincerely desire that for which we ask, he will show us the right paths, and the right and proper things for us to do today. Our enemies are spiritual in nature, principalities and powers in high places, eager and ready to destroy us, and to rob us of our joy and happiness; but God will deliver us from all of them if we but ask and believe. God will show us what he wants us to do each day to serve him and accomplish his purposes.
When we meet with God the first thing in the morning, we are quickened, or made alive in the spirit and given new energy and strength for the day, and we are more aware of God's grace, and forgiveness, and provision. Meeting with God the first thing each and every day is the secret of a successful, happy, and fruitful life, pleasing to God.

Sweetest Name I Know
By: Robert A. Searles
"Jesus!~ Jesus! Jesus! sweetest name I know.", as the song writer has said: "fills my every longing, keeps me singing as I go". - Luther B. Bridgers
Think of all that Jesus is, and means to us. He is our God - the creator of us all. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." John 1: 1-3.(KJV) Bible.
He is our Savior - our sin substitute. He who knew no sin was made sin for us, and died in our place so that we sinners might be justified and stand righteous before God.
He is our high priest - He is in the presence of God the Father, always pleading our cause and , He is our advocate -- our lawyer in heaven.
He is our closest relative - our elder brother. He is our personal physician - "Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases, who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's". Psalm 103: 1-5 (KJV) Bible.
He is our best friend - a friend that sticketh closer than a brother, a friend in need is a friend indeed. He is our comforter in times of trouble, and distress and great need. He is our tour guide to heaven. "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh nto the Father, but by me." Jesus said.
Jesus is all these things to us and much more. Blessed be his holy name. Could we ever love him and servce him too much for all that he is, and has done for us, and promises to do in the future? I think not.

God Does Not Hold Grudges
"If thou, Lord shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared. I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope." Psalm 130: 3,4,5. (KJV) Bible.
Praise God! He does not hold grudges and hold our sins and wrong doing over our heads to condemn us; but he is ever ready to hear our confession and self judgment, and remember our sin no more. If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness, otherwise, if this were not the case, who could stand? Who would be able to serve him? Who would be able to preach and to teach? For none is worthy unless he accounts them to be worthy through his grace and mercy and forgiveness, for: "There is none righteous, no, not one for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God". Therefore once having brought our sins before God and claiming the cleansing power of his shed blood, let us go our way rejoicing and sin no more. Each new day he gives us a clean new slate upon which to write the history of our lives. Beginning today , the first day of the rest of our lives, with the strength of our forgiven, redeemed lives and resurrected souls, let us be renewed in our mind and empowered by the Holy Spirit to go forth today to our place of duty and service and be glad and do all that God wants us to do for him.

Because He Lives
In the midst of all his troubles and afflictions, Job could say: "I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth; and though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall i see God: who I shall see for my self, and mine eye shall behold , and not another; though my reins be consumed within me." Job 19: 25-27 (KJV) Bible.
This kind of assurance and faith would enable anyone to endure the light afflictions of the moment, in light of his immortality promised in the word of God to all who are the redeemed of the Lord. Nothing can hurt, and nothing can destroy that which God has ordained to live forever. Christ our Lord came to earth to save sinners. Death could not hold him. He was the first fruits of all them that sleep.
Through him and by him we have everlasting life. This mortal shall put on immortalithy. This corruptible body shall put on incorruption, and we shall be preserved forever in the presence of our blessed Lord.
Take heart dear Christian friend, some day the clouds will clear away, and the Son of God shall appear. "The dead in Christ shall rise first, and we who are alive and remain on the earth shall be caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air. So shall we ever be with theLord." 1 Thessalonians 4: 16, 17. (KJV) Bible
Believe it! Receive it! and enjoy it! This is your comfort, your strength, and your joy. That which God has ordained forever cannot be altered by men, nor time, nor circumstance.

A Call To Worship The Lord - A Song of Praise
Psalm 96
By: Robert A. Searles
"O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth. Sing unto the Lord, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens. Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. Give unto the Lord, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts. O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth Say among the heathen that the Lord reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously. Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof. Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice Before the Lord: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth."
