Lie Not Against the Truth

 Thought for Today  -  November 29, 2022

 Lie Not Against The Truth

By: Robert A. Searles

“Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom decendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is there is confusion and every evil work.” James 3: 13-16

Dear friends, one of the methods that Satan uses to try to destroy us and to ruin our testimony as a Christian is to cause us to harbor bitter envying and strife in our heart. Satan knows the effect that bitterness and strife can have on our mind and our bodies. It can cause an imbalance in the chemical make up in our bodies, eventually causing breakdown and illness, and it can cause our thinking process to be irrational and perverted; also , it can cause our thoughts to be turned away from our blessed Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

My friend, if there is any trace of bitterness or strife in your heart this morning as you begin this new day, glory not, but confess it to God and lie not against the truth. Jealousy, envy and covetousness are all grievous sins and displeasing to God our Father who has promised to be generous to his children and to provide for all our needs.

Bitterness, envy, strife, jealousy and covetousness are the elements which lead to war. “From whence come wars and fighting among you? Come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and can not obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not because ye ask not. Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” James 4: 1-3

Dear friend in Christ, turn to your Lord, our Savior Jesus Christ this morning, and to the written word which he has given us, and allow the Holy Spirit, through the word of God to wash away all this bitterness, and to cleanse us and make us fit vessels for the master's use. Get into the word of God, and by the washing of the word, be clean.

“For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy, and the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace” James 3: 16-18

“But he giveth more grace, wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” James 4: 6-10

Born of God

 Thought For Today - September 1, 2022

 Born Of God.

 By: Robert A. Searles

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3.

“Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot see the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again.” John 3: 5, 6, 7.

My friend, if you cannot fully appreciate the word of God, believe its' promises, and perceive with your heart and mind all the glories, joys, and happiness of the kingdom of God; if you cannot enjoy the fellowship with God as a parent – child relationship, and experience the sense of justification and forgiveness of sins past, present, and future, perhaps it is because you have never truly been “born again” into the family of God.

When Adam and Eve our first earthly parents disobeyed God at the very beginning of creation, they sold their birthright to Satan, and since then every human being that has ever been born has inherited the sin nature, and comes into the world already estranged from God. So, when we are born, we are born in the flesh only. Our spiritual life does not begin at the time of our physical birth.

Although God is the creator of all, he is not the father of all until his child has been conceived and born. God is spirit, he must be worshiped in spirit, and to become a child of God, we must be born in the spirit. “The natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2: 14.

In order to be born into the family of God, it is totally a work of God's grace. We must be drawn by God to hear and accept the word of God as absolute truth, and by faith believe, as it says that - “All scripture is given by inspiration of God”, and that “holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the holy ghost.” One must accept by faith that Jesus Christ is the divine son of God, and that he died for the sins of each individual person who will receive him, and that his bodily resurrection was proof that God had accepted his sacrifice in payment of their sin debt, and for the justification of all who will receive him.

Intellectual knowledge is not enough. The heart must confirm by faith, that which the mind knows factually. The world says prove it to me, and I will believe. God says, believe me and then I will prove it to you by spiritual discernment

. “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God. John 3: 16, 17, 18. \

“As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them who believe on his name, which were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1: 12, 13

Dear reader, I invite you to believe the word of God; to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. If God is drawing you to himself, and has implanted within your heart a grain of faith as minute as the grain of mustard seed, if you are willing, by receiving the Word of God into your heart, this grain of faith will become impregnated with the word of God, and cause you to become a child of God. Then the Holy Spirit will dwell within you and cause you to know God, enjoy God, and perceive the kingdom of God, and have the assurance of eternal, everlasting life.

We Become What We Think

  Thought for Today - May 9, 2023

We Become Like What We Think About

 By: Robert A. Searles

“The wicked through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God; God is not in all his thoughts.” Psalm 10:4.

Do we seek after God the very first thing that we do when we awake each morning? Is God in all our thoughts, or is God in any of our thoughts? It is very possible to perform services in the name of God, and to do good works in the name of God without really giving much thought to God, and without really seeking the presence and fellowship with God.

Do we really worship and praise God in the spirit? Do we worship God in the beauty of his holiness, are we truly in love with God, or are we just in love with the idea of appearing Godly?

Young people reach an age when they think that all that matters is being in love with members of the opposite sex. Psychiatrist will tell you that most of the time, they are not in love with any one person, but they are in love with the idea of love, because it seems to be the in thing to do. This is why it is dangerous for young people to get deeply involved with this sort of thing until they get older, but this is just an example of what can happen to us as Christians.

We can become so involved in the idea of serving God, and being all wrapped up in activities, and going to church, and we can get so busy doing things, that we might forget to seek God, and exclude him from any or all of our thoughts. If we are to worship God properly, the way that God wants us to worship him in the beauty of holiness, we must worship him in spirit and in truth. God must be predominant in all our thoughts.

What does it mean for God to be predominant in all our thoughts? It means that when we awake from sleep, our first thought will cause us to consciously fix our mind upon the Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father, and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and that by the process of our will, we choose to keep our mind fixed upon God all during our working hours. Every thought that comes into our mind during the course of the day will be in subjection to him. This is what it means to keep our mind and hearts stayed on him

“Thou will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee.” Isaiah 26: 3

We are, and will become what we think. We can choose what we think; therefore, it is up to us really what we are, and what we will become, because by the process of our conscious will we choose the things that we think about. If the predominate thought in our mind is on the Lord Jesus Christ, and the beauty of his holiness, then we will, more and more each day grow into his image and likeness.

Proverbs 23: 7 tells us that : “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”

Again, we are and become what we think about.

“Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God.” Romans 12: 2.

Our power with God, and our blessings from God are directly related to our prayer life. What is prayer? Prayer is the verbal expression of the thoughts of our heart. In prayer, our lips express the thoughts of our mind. It is in the mind that we must worship God in spirit, and it is in our mind that we must pray. Our power and blessing from God comes through praying without ceasing.

1 Thes 5:17 tells us to “pray without ceasing” How can we pray without ceasing? We pray without ceasing by thinking, without ceasing, of the Lord Jesus Christ. “In all thy ways acknowledge him and he will direct thy paths” Proverbs 3:6

“Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are of good report: if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Phil 4:8.

We are and become what we keep our minds fixed upon,

Glorify God

 Thought for T   oday  -   May 26, 2022

Glorify God  -   By Robert A. Searles

“ Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who only doeth ondrous things. And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen!” Psalm 72: 18, 19.

Our primary purpose on earth is to glorify God. We are told in the scriptures that we are to glorify God at all times, but how shall we glorify him at all time? We glorify him by our praise of him and all his wondrous works. He is worthy of all adoration and praise. We are told that God inhabits the praise of his people.

“Ye that fear the Lord, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.” Psalm:  22:23.

We glorify God by our good works. Our good works alone will never gain us entrance into the presence of God and heaven, but once we have been justified by our faith in the finished work of the sacrifice of Christ, our good works ought to follow as a result of our gratitude and desire to glorify God.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5: 16.

Backward And Inside Out

 Thought For Today - May 23, 2022

Backward And Inside Out  -   By: Robert a. Searles

I sometimes fear for our great country, that we might ever be becoming more ripe for the judgment of God, because, more and more it seems that in order to be politically correct, we must turn our backs on absolute truth, and be disobedient to the moral laws and commandments of God and the values of our fathers that once made our land, America, the leader among nations. But more recently those values are being compromised and corrupted, and turned inside out, so to speak, particularly in governmental circles. A warning was issued by the prophet Isaiah to the nation of Israel many centuries ago that because of this very thing, judgment was pending, and history has proven that judgment did come just as Isaiah had predicted.

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil, that put darkness for light, and light for darkness, that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5: 20.

Who can deny that this is taking place in America today? That which God calls evil, men consider it to be normal and right, and that which God says is good, men ridicule as being old fashioned and irrelevant in today's society. Principles that are being taught and fostered in our educational system today are in direct opposition to the principles that a Holy God has laid down in his Holy Word. According to worldly standards, darkness is considered light, and light is to be considered to be darkness, and bitter is sweet, and sweet is bitter.

“Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight.” Isaiah 5: 21.

Men and women of science, so called, who in their estimation of themselves and their work, think that by their own intelligence and wisdom, they can solve all the mysteries of life and the universe without bringing into their laboratory any consideration of the supernatural intelligence and power of our living God. They prefer to give credit for un-explainable events in the universe to “mother nature” rather than to our “Father God”

“Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!” Isaiah 5:22.23

Instead of being influenced by the spirit of God as God had intended for his creation, men have in the past and still are today, making important and crucial decisions and laws under the influence of alcohol, and drugs, and mind controlling substances. Also, who will deny that many times the wicked are justified and criminals go free through bribes and payoffs of the wealthy in high places.

We must take heed to our ways lest we be judged and destroyed as a free nation under God. We as Christians, in particular, while we wait for the rapture of the church, which according to the word of God will surely come, must take our head out of the sand, and come out of our secluded closets, and let those in authority know that we want truth – God's truth, his morality and his righteousness to prevail in our country. God is not mocked, he is the same today as he was in Isaiah's day. When our great country was founded, there were "Isaiah 's"  in the pulpits across the land thundering out their warning from the word of God, and warning of the consequences of sin and disobedience of the word of God. As a result of their preaching, sinners came running to the altar in repentance, falling on their faces, and begging God's forgiveness.

Preachers - instead of seeking everyone's approval and admiration, stand in your pulpits on Sunday mornings, Sunday Evenings, and whenever you have opportunity and tell it like it is. Ask the Holy Spirit, to enable you with power from on high , through you, to name those things which are a stench in the nostrils of God. If you step on my toes, so to speak, and I am convicted of sins in my life that need to be changed, and if you scare the "hell" out of me, then so be it if it means I am all the better for it

If you violate the so called laws of "political correctness" for naming and identifying particular sins, and even lose your tax exemptions, so be it, God will reward you and make up the difference. Use your office as the servant of God and as Isaiah did in his day in Israel, cause the hills and mountains of America to shudder and tremble at the anger of God, but always remind us  of the outstretched hand of God's mercy and forgiveness when we acknowledge our sins and repent.

“Therefore, as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so, their root shall be as rottenness. And their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the holy one of Israel. Therefore is the anger of the Lord kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.” Isaiah 5: 24,25.

God will surely spare us and bless us if we will sincerely turn back to him, confess our sins, and seek his righteousness.

 May God truly bless America!

Is God Real To You?

 Thought for Today - January 6, 2023

Is God Real To You?

 By: Robert A. Searles

Is God real in your life? What, or who do you really think God is? Is God an intricate part of you as an individual? Is God as much a part of you as your breathing, or your heartbeat, or your walking and moving about? Is God just an ideal; a good idea? Is God just a philosophy of life that we pick from a book? Is God just a psychological means of control to keep us from doing immoral things? Is God just a good thought that we think about for a few moments each day, and then close the book and put it on the shelf for another day, or until something bad or unpleasant happens to us for which we have no answer, and we recognize that we need wisdom beyond ourselves? What and who is God to you as an individual?

God's word teaches us that God is a spirit, a supernatural invisible spirit. They that worship God must worship him in spirit. God's word teaches us that the supernatural invisible spirit of God manifested himself in the person and body of Jesus of Nazareth while he was on earth. Jesus ascended into heaven after his resurrection, and sent the Holy Spirit to literally live in our bodies. If we choose and desire to have it so, God the Holy Spirit will clean our house and literally, as a matter of fact, actually take up residence in our bodies. At this point it is God himself living in us to will and to do of his good pleasure. If we choose to have it so, it will be God himself in us creating our wants and desires, and it will be God himself in us controlling our thoughts and the very movements of our bodies.

If God is really living in us, we don't really have to set up a lot of rules and regulations for ourselves, because it will be God himself that will be in control., We have to grasp the principle that we were made and designed to be the house and temple of God the place where God lives, and walks, and has his being. Of course , before God can live in us, we must be changed, we must be born again through faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we must willingly yield ourselves and open the door so that the Holy Spirit can move in and take charge.

Where do you go for counsel? Do you look to people, someone whom you admire for their great intellectual capacities, or do you look within yourselves, to the Holy Spirit of God who dwells and lives in each one of his born again children?

“”Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that covereth with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin that walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt. Isaiah 30: 1,2 .

Did it ever occur to you that if you look to a person for counsel, even though that person may be a child of God, and even though that person may be much admired for his outward appearance and apparent service to the Lord, he may not be completely yielded himself to the spirit of God, and so be limited as to the wisdom he has from God? God want us to look to no person for counsel. He wants us to come directly to the throne of grace and seek his wisdom and counsel.

Do we pitch our tents, as Lot did, so that we can look toward Sodom? Have we separated ourselves unto God, just enough, so that if we wanted to, it would not be too difficult to take a walk down into Egypt, as it were, which is typical of the world of sin and bondage from which we came. Are we prone to trust in the shadow of Egypt? Do we say that we love and trust God, but after all when we get hungry we must run after the things of the world to get satisfied?

When we trust in men, and in the world system, and have no real vital relationship with the living God who wants to live and walk and abide in us, then no wonder we have no power, and are frustrated and confused.

“Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.”Isaiah 30: 3

Are You Saved?

 Thought for Today - January 7, 2023

 Are You Saved?

By: Robert A.Searles

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. Christ Jesus came into the world to save me, and Christ Jesus came into the world to save you. Are you saved? If you cannot say with absolute assurance that you are saved and know for sure that you will go to heaven when you die, then it is absolutely true, according to the teaching of the Holy Scriptures, the Holy Bible, that you are still lost, and if you are still lost when you die, you will spend eternity in hell forever with all its' misery and torments, separated from all that is pure and lovely, and righteous, apart from the presence of God forever. The apostle Paul, writing to Timothy said:

“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptance that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners: of whom I am chief.” 1 Timothy 1:15.

If the apostle Paul declared himself to be chief of sinners, where does that leave each of us? This should convince each of us that we are lost and need a Savior. We have a Savior provided for us if we will believe him; accept and believe his word when he, through the scriptures, warns us of our fate if we make the wrong choices concerning him.

“As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one: there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” Romans 3: 10-12.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3: 23.

God in his love for us has offered us a remedy for this condition by offering to us by his mercy and grace, his own righteousness through Christ.

“Therefore, by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets, even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe.” Romans 3: 20-22

Otherwise: if we refuse God's offer of salvation through Christ – then -”The wages of sin is death. But the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6: 23.

If we choose to receive wages for our sinful works, then we receive eternal death; but if we would rather rely on the free gift of God, and denounce our sinful works and our own righteousness as “filthy rags”, and acknowledge that Christ paid our sin debt with his blood and sacrifice for us, then we are freely given life eternal.

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deedes were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, that his deeds should be reproved; but he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought of God.” John 3: 14-21

“He that believeth on the son hath everlasting life, and he that believeth not the son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” John 3: 36.

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. “ 1 John 1: 10. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1: 9

How about it? Are you saved? Will you choose life or death? Will you choose light or darkness? Will you choose Christ or the Devil? Don't be deceived, if you do not choose to accept the love of Christ and his finished work on the cross for your eternal salvation, then you have automatically chosen the Devil and will be condemend with him in hell forever according to the word of God.

Walking With God

Thought for Today - December 31, 2022

Walking With God

 By: Robert A. Searles

Fellow Christians, let us examine ourselves, are we walking each day with God? Is he our constant companion wherever we go, and whatever we do? Do we go anywhere, or do anything that we could not go or do with the companionship of God? Are we really walking with God, or is he just tagging along behind because we have put ourselves, and other things ahead of him?

He has promised never to leave us, nor forsake us; but are we guilty of ignoring his presence with us, because sometimes we want to indulge ourselves; we want to go places, and do things, and be involved in things that we know God will not be a part of because he is Holy and righteous.?

“Enoch walked with God for three hundred years and begat sons and daughters, and all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty five years; and Enoch walked with God and he was not for God took him.” According to Genesis 5: 22,23,24.

Three hundred years is a long time to walk with God, but God and Enoch must have had a glorious time together, because their relationship was so intimate that Enoch was the first person to be raptured. (or caught away). One day God and Enoch were so involved in each others company, that suddenly Enoch was not, for God took him.

God gives special favors and privileges and honors to those who will choose to walk with him, to deny self, and to forsake places, and things, and companions that are not pleasing to God.

“Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Noah was a just man and perfect in all his generations, and Noah walked with God.” Genesis 6: 8, 9.

Noah was given the honor of preserving life on planet earth during the flood. To walk with God, we must agree with God in all points.

“Can two walk together except they be agreed?” He that would walk with God must believe and agree that he is, and that he is a rewarder of all those who diligently seek him. Without faith it is impossible to please God. To walk with God, we must agree with God when he says: “there is none righteous, no, not one.” Romans 3: 10. And, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3: 23. And, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”Romans 6: 23 . To walk with God we must agree with God that these words apply to us, and declare with Paul, that we are chief among sinners, but the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.

To walk with God, we must agree with God that our standing with him does not come as a result of our good works, or our own righteousness, but “By grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2: 8,9

God made people in his own image to walk with him. This is our calling as the ultimate creation of God.

“Whosoever will may come.” Jesus said. “All who come to me I will in no wise cast out. “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.” Micah 6: 8.

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.” 2 Chronicles 16: 9.

“He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.” Job 28: 10.

“The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven; his eyes behold, his eyelids try the children of men.” Psalm 11: 4.

“Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.”Psalm 33: 18, 19

“The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.” 1 Peter 3: 12.

Beware, we are under constant surveillance. We are constantly being watched. Shakespeare said: “All the world is a stage and men and women merely players.” What he should have said is that men and women are like microbes under God's microscope, although God does not need a microscope to see all the hidden things of man’s heart, his eyes are sufficient. We are being watched by the Lord, and all the host of heaven, to see what our choices will be in any given situation. The Lord's eyes are searching for the person who will choose to walk humbly with him and honor him. God does not overlook anything that he finds to be precious in his sight. God is ready and pleased to reward righteousness, and faithfulness when he finds it.

My fellow Christian, if you have been saved by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, won't you come out of hiding, as it were, and make yourself known to the world as a Christian, hating sin as God hates sin, but loving the sinner as God loves sinners. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, and glorify God. Fellow Christian, God gives you a free will to choose good or evil, life or death.

This old world in which we live is on its' last legs. Sin and corruption and wickedness prevail everywhere, and even our own beloved country is ripe for the judgment of God. We, who are called the children of God , must choose to walk with God moment by moment, and day by day, and put on the uniform of the redeemed child of God. As a good soldier of Jesus Christ, we must not become so entangled with the things of this life that we would be handicapped in the army of the Lord . If you have tasted and seen that the Lord is good and merciful, and that he has raised you up out of the miry pit, how can you not with gratitude, present yourselves a living sacrifice to God which is your reasonable service, that you might walk with him, and that you might be an instrument in his hand; so that he might work a good work in you and through you as he did with Enoch and Noah, and all the other saints down through the ages who chose to walk with God.

The bible teaches that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming again, and when he comes, he will have with him crowns and rewards for those who were willing to choose to obey him, to hear his call, and go forth to battle for his glory.

Fellow Christian, right now as you read this message, you are of necessity making a choice. What will it be?

Tonight as this old year of 2022 dies . and as the new year if 2023 is born, would be a great time to make the right choice.

Should you be one who may be reading this, and you have never really considered your future and eternal destiny, and you have not yet believed and accepted the LORD JESUS CHRIST as your personal Lord and savior, as the new year is born,I pray that you may also be"born again"

into the family of God.

May God bless each and every one of you who read this and. Have a happy New Year!

Hell Is No Joke

  Thought For Today  -  May 3, 202

Hell Is No Joke!

By: Robert A. Searles

My  Dear Friends

I admit that this may come across as an unpopular message, and rather long, but I believe that God has laid it upon my heart to warn the wicked, my unsaved  friends, neighbors ,and loved ones, of the consequences of not taking heed to his  Word, and accepting his plan of salvation for their souls.  I have applied this message first of all to myself, and then to the world.

I pray that you will read all the way through to the end. And if you are a "born again" Christian and love God, you will speak the truth in love, and share this message wherever you are or wherever you go.

Has anyone ever told you to “go to Hell”? Have you ever told anyone to “go to Hell”? Have you heard any “jokes” about Hell? Have you told any “jokes” about Hell? My friend, allow me to tell you and warn you, by the authority of the Word of God, the holy bible, that Hell is no joke and is not to be trifled with and taken lightly.

Hell is a real place, even as earth is a real place, and Heaven is a real place. Hell is a place of continual fire, kindled by the anger of God: “For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest Hell and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.” Deuteronomy 32: 22.

Hell is a place prepared by God for the devil and all the rebellious angels who followed him, and the eternal abode of all who willfully reject the love of God. “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, depart from me ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.” Matthew 25:41.

No one will automatically go to Heaven; but everyone WILL automatically go to Hell unless they are SAVED. There is no middle ground where we receive a second chance. Someone has rightly said: “Going to Hell requires no decision, and no reservation is necessary.”

Unless we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ: that he is God manifested in the flesh, Emanuel, God with us, and that he came to offer himself a sacrifice to pay the penalty for our sins, and unless we confess that we are all sinners and need a Savior and recognize Jesus Christ as our redeemer and rescuer, and call upon him to have mercy upon us and save us, our destiny will be to spend eternity in that horrible, eternal place called Hell. Being in Hell forever is the natural state of mankind without God, just as cold is the natural state without heat, and darkness the natural state without light.

To be condemned by God and separated from him forever means Hell, indeed! The bible says: “He that believeth on him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God, and this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” John 3: 18, 19

My friend, if you would rather “hide out” as it were, in the darkness of sin, and rebellion rather than to enter into God's light of love; if you are a lover of this world rather than a lover of God, then on the authority of God's word, Hell is your inheritance forever. When our blessed Lord Jesus Christ walked on the earth, he taught and warned of the dangers of Hell fire more than the glories of Heaven. Hell is a place of continual, everlasting sorrow, grief, anguish, pain and suffering; it is a place of perpetual darkness where there is “weeping and wailing, and gnashing of teeth”, and as the scripture says: “the worm dieth not” - that is – the fire is never extinguished, the thirst is never quenched, the pain is never eased, the loneliness and despair of being forever separated from a loving God and godly loved ones is never abated. - See Matthew 8: 12 and Mark 9: 43-48.

“The children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth,” “If thy hand offend thee, cut it off it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into Hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into Hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire, where their worm dieth not and the fire is not quenched.”

The Lord Jesus Christ confirmed the fact that Hell is a real place of fire and eternal punishment, and gave us warning that it is to be avoided at all cost. There is a great gulf fixed between Heaven and Hell, between the good and the evil. That gulf cannot be crossed. No one is able to go from one to the other. God is kind, and merciful and long suffering, but he has warned us that “his spirit shall not always strive with man.” Gen 6: 3

. One day God will close the doors of Heaven and all who have refused to hear his call will be shut out, and then all there is left is Hell forever.

Today, the door of Heaven is wide open, God is calling. If you hear his voice, answer his call and be saved: “Now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6: 2.

Tomorrow may be too late. The door might be shut. In Luke's gospel chapter 16, verses 19-31, Jesus told of one who was rich in this world's goods and thought he had no need for God; but when he died he went to Hell: “And in Hell he lift up his eyes being in torments, and seeing Abraham afar off and Lazarus ( a poor beggar, who in his lifetime knew and trusted God), in his bosom, he cried and said, father Abraham have mercy on me and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue for I am tormented in this flame” Now it was too late for him to repent. The door had been closed. He was there in Hell forever, forever to be tormented.

Don't fool yourself, my friend. Don't play Russian roulette with your eternal destiny. Any moment could be your last on earth, and then where will you find yourself in Heaven or in Hell?

“It is appointed unto man once to die (young or old, rich or poor), and after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27. Where will you stand at the judgment? If you were to die today do you have the assurance of Heaven or is the mouth of Hell gaping wide open , waiting to receive you into everlasting habitations and torment? Death is not the end of your existence, my friend, but commencement, as it were, when you are either promoted to Heaven, or consigned to Hell forever.

When God created you and me, he gave us a life that would go on forever. You and I will spend eternity some place, either in Heaven or in Hell. The bible says. “ It is appointed unto men once to die” (that is – our spirit is to be separated from our physical body), “ and after that the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27.

How will you be judged when you find yourself before the judgment throne of God? Jesus said: “At the end of the world, the angels shall come forth and sever the wicked from among the just . They shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 13: 49-50. .

How will you be judged, as among the wicked or among the righteous? In the book of Revelation John tells us: “And I saw the dead, small and great stand before God; and the books were opened; and another book was opened which is the book of life; and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, every man according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and Hell delivered up the dead which were in them; and they were judged every man according to their works, and death and Hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, and whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20: 12-15. “The fearful and unbelieving and the abominable, and murderers and whore mongers, and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone which is the second death.,” Revelation 21: 8.

My friend, is your name written in the lamb's book of life? Have your sins been forgiven? Have you believed since you heard the Word of God? Have you asked God to show you his loving kindness and tender mercies and apply the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ to your account so that you might be declared righteous in his sight? As you read these words and hear his voice, the opportunity is still available to you, but consider the awesome alternative that lies before you if you refuse.

My friend, don't expect to party with your drinking “buddies” in Hell. Hell fire always burns, but never consumes. A split second after you leave this physical body, if you find yourself in Hell, it will be a terrible unnecessary situation because God in his love and mercy has provided a way of escape from the horrors of Hell to enjoy the pardon of God forever. “I amAlpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. “Revelation 21: 6-7.

The good news is that God himself so loved you and me that he took upon himself human flesh in the person of Jesus Christ, and came to earth to rescue from Hell, and to save all who will believe and trust in him. “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3: 16.

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved and thy house.” Acts 16: 31. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. “As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one.” Romans 3: 10. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23. “The wages of sin is death (separation from God in Hell forever), but the gift of God is everlasting life (with God forever in Heaven) Through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6: 23. “What must I do to be saved?”, the Philippian jailer asked. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved and thy house.” Acts 16: 31 was the answer.

My friend, while there is still time for you to avoid the horrors of Hell forever, won't you heed the warning? Hell is no joke: it is a horrible certainty for you unless you believe God, ask for his mercy , and trust in his promises. If you have read thus far in this message, if you have in your possession a copy of the Word of God, the Holy Bible, and if you have ever heard the preching of the Word of God, perhaps the Holy Spirit is tugging at your heart, even perhaps causing you to be quite uncomfortable and miserable, convicting you of the truth of what you have heard and read, and if that is so, then this is good evidence that God is drawing you to himself to be saved.

The bible says that no one can come to Christ except the Father draws him. No one can earn salvation by any amount of good works or good intentions or good deeds, for salvation is a gift from God. “For by grace are ye saved, through faith and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2: 8 ,9.

My friend, God sends no one to Hell willingly. God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. If you go to Hell it will be because you have trampled on the love of God and the prayers of Christian loved ones and friends, the shed blood of Jesus Christ, and the working of the Holy Spirit. Don't be a fool. “The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.” Psalm 53: 1.

Believe the gospel that - “Christ Jesus died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15: 3,

 4. “Wherefore he is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7: 25. He is able to save all who will come to him by faith, and admit their sins and ask for his forgiveness.

Will you dear reader consider doing this if you have not already done so, before the door is eternally closed and it is everlastingly too late, and you learn for sure that Hell is no joke because you find yourself there?

When you have received Christ into your heart, and have become a born again child of God, confess him with your mouth. The bible says that “With the heart man believeth and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:10.; Tell your friends, your wife, your husband, your children, your parents and co-workers. You ought to seek the fellowship of other believers in a bible believing fundamental church where the bible, and the bible alone is the sole authority for faith and practice. You ought also, after you are saved, follow the Lord in believer's baptism as a testimony of your new life in Christ. May the Lord lead you and bless you and save you from the horrors of Hell which otherwise you will find is no joke.

From Darkness Unto Light

 Thought for Today -  May 8, 2023

 From Darkness Unto Light

By: Robert A. Searles

Once I walked in spiritual darkness. I was blinded by the night around me. I could not see. I could not believe, and I had no hope. I was like the vast majority of people in the world today who walk in spiritual darkness, and without any real purpose for living and without hope. How great is that darkness which enshrouds the world in its thick cloud of evil and hopelessness and despair!

How sad it is that so many who profess themselves to be wise in the wisdom of the world have become fools, and declare that there is no God! Some of those who are leaders in our government who claim to be highly educated and possess great qualities of leadership are walking in gross darkness and leading us astray.

“For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.” Isaiah 9:16

It seems that the great curtain of night has been drawn on this great land of ours. There are countless numbers of men and women, boys and girls, and young people who admittedly have no real joy, no hope, for anything better in their lives than a mere animal existence. They have been taught from birth to worship the gods of self, and money, and self esteem. Spiritual darkness causes many to stumble.

“The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.” Proverbs 4: 19.

Those who are embedded in the darkness stumble over moral issues, and not being able to discern right from wrong, make wrong decisions concerning pro-choice, resulting in the murder of millions of unborn babies by abortion. Because of spiritual darkness, many have abandoned the traditional family values of one man with one woman united together by God in holy matrimony for life. Because of spiritual darkness, bible reading and prayer has been abandoned in the government schools system and replaced with armed guards necessary to prevent children from trying to solve their problems by killing one another.

How great is that darkness which covers our land when in the name of “policital correctness”, the name of Jesus Christ is forbidden to be mentioned , even on his own birthday, and our attention directed to some pagan god or goddess, to honor them instead, and call it a happy holiday.

Those who persist to walk in darkness do so because they love the darkness, and they love all the evil that is present in the darkness. Because of the darkness, some people would rather spend their time in a dark dingy barroom, crying over their beer, so to speak, than to be among those who have been snatched out of the darkness and have entered into the light of eternal life.

“But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!”Matthew 6: 23

“And this is the condemnation that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.” John 3: 19

Mankind does not have to dwell in spiritual darkness and remain in the spiritual eternal night of evil and sin, for light has come into the world.

“The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light. They that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shinned.” Isaiah 9:2

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called wonderful, counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of peace.”Isaiah 9:6.

Jesus Christ is the light of the world. “In him was life, and the life was the light of men.” John 1:4.

Dear reader, if today you are dwelling in the darkness of spiritual night, if you have no joy, no peace, no hope for an eternal future in heaven with God – reach out to the one who came into the world to snatch us out of darkness, and receive by faith the great gift of love he has offered to all who will believe and trust him. This is what Christmas is all about. When we walk in the light as he is in the light we have new spiritual sight, and we can see things by faith the way he sees them, and we come to realize that he is not willing for us to remain in darkness, but to live forever in the glory of his eternal light.

Teach The Children

May 11, 2016 Teach The Children By: Robert A. Searles Those of us who are parents, grandparents, senior citizens, the old and the gray headed, ought to be speaking from experience, and, constantly showing forth to this present generation, and every one that is to come, the great power and strength, and righteousness of our Holy God. We ought to show our young people what it means to trust in God who is REAL and not just a fantasy, who cares, and who is willing and able to meet all our needs, both physical and spiritual. We know not the number of our days; therefore, every day ought to be precious to us, and we ought to utilize it wisely to honor God, and with great joy and gladness, magnify God before this younger generation so that they may seek and long after God. It seems that Satan is out to capture the minds, the souls, and lives of our children through his many diabolical devices. Satan is not as he is pictured in medieval literature as a red suited character with horns and pitch fork, whose habitation is hell. No! The bible describes him as an angel of light who goes about seeking whom he may devour. He uses many seemingly innocent schemes and devices to capture his prey. He sometimes uses people who know not the true God of eternal life and salvation to promote his programs. The word of God, the Holy Bible warns us not to have any fellowship with the works of darkness: nor to seek after the occult, nor to seek after familiar spirits. It tells us to “sanctify the Lord of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and dread.” Isaiah 8: 13. “And when they shall say unto you, seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God; for the living to the dead?” Isaiah 8: 19. “There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consultant with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.” Deuteronomy 18: 10-12. There are many other scripture verses which warn of the same thing, but there is not room enough here to list them. In spite of all these warnings from God, it is sad to observe that even Christian parents are allowing their children to pursue these demons of darkness in the literature and films they are allowed to read and watch. Why should we encourage or allow our children and grandchildren to worship the so called heroes of darkness – witches, wizards, familiar spirits, monsters etc., when we ought to be introducing them to wholesome, uplifting literature and films which honor and glorify God? The Holy Bible is full of great adventure stories for young children, adolescents, and even adults - Stories of Moses, Joshua, the children of Israel in the wilderness, the story of Daniel, of Ruth, stories and predictions of the prophets, and stories of great kings and kingdoms, and best of all, the stories of Jesus and his great plan of redemption and salvation. I have to wonder how many children and young peo0ple today in our society, even among so called Christian families, can relate to us these great adventures, and how they may apply them to our everyday living. I also sadly wonder how many parents, or grandparents, including Christians, would “camp out” overnight at a bookstore or public library, to hear the stories of these great bible heroes, as some do when the latest occult novel is being released. Our world is going to be governed by the upcoming generation and the generations following them. Who will be in control, Satan or God? We all know the final answer, the ultimate victory is God's, but oh! What a price we will pay in the meantime if we do not teach our children right things. “My mouth shall show forth thy righteousness, and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the number thereof. I will go in the strength of the Lord God. I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only, O God, thou hast brought me from my youth; and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous strength unto this generation, and thy power to everyone that is to come.” Psalm 71: 15-18. What is most important to you, mom, dad, grammar, grandpa? How do you teach your children? Bring Your Burdens To the Lord

  Thought for Today  -  May  30 2022

Bring Your Burdens To The Lord.  By: Robert A. Searles

Jesus extended an invitation to all who are weary and heavy laden to come unto him, and he would give them rest. He came into the world to be our burden bearer and our sin bearer.

“Surely he hath borne our grief's, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted.” Isaiah 53: 4.

“That it might be fulfilled which was spoken of Esaias the prophet, saying, himself took our infirmities and bare our sickness.” Matthew 8: 17.

What burdens lay heavy on our souls today? Is it the burden of unforgiven sin? Is it the burden of doubts and fears, or the burden of sickness and immanent death? Do we grieve today over the loss of family, friends, or loved ones? Are we perplexed, not knowing where to turn or what road to take to solve our problems? Are we overly concerned about how we will meet the challenges of the future?

Jesus stands ready to make an exchange of burdens. If we are willing to lay all our cares and burdens upon him, he will bear them for us, but we, in exchange, must be willing to put his yoke upon our shoulders and be busy with him. When we are yoked together with him, he is bearing the heavier part of the load and our burdens become lighter.

We are told to take our burdens to the Lord and leave them there.

“Burdens are lifted at Calvary.” Jesus said: “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” Matthew 11: 28-30.

Not With The Wisdom of Men, But By The Power of God

 Thought for Today - May 11, 2024

Not With The Wisdom Of Men, But By The Power Of God!

 By: Robert A. Searles

“And I brethren. When I came to you, came not with excellence of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 2: 1-5.

We do not come to know God through education, or the study of philosophy, or the study of science, or through logical reasoning. We cannot speak of God and describe God by excellence of speech or worldly wisdom. Only by yielding, and listening to the invisible, intangible, supernatural Holy Spirit of God can we know God. The Holy Spirit reveals to us the hidden secrets and mysteries of God when we have believed and received Christ as our own personal Savior, and are submitted to him and listening to him.

The human eye has not, and will never see the things that God has prepared for them that love him. The human ear has never heard the voice of God the Father. The human mind cannot comprehend the things of God. We cannot learn of God by listening to the profound philosophies of learned men, nor can we purchase a knowledge of God from any university.

“Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea the deep things of God.” 1 Corinthian; 2: 9. 10.

The love of God is the key that opens the door of our hearts and invites the Holy Spirit to come in and abide and teach., A deep seated love for the Lord Jesus Christ, and a deep sense of gratitude for his finished work for our salvation sets the human spirit free to commune with the Holy spirit, and we are carried to lofty heights of knowledge and the revelation of who God is, and the things which he has prepared for his children. To be a child of God is to be born of the Spirit and indwelt by the Spirit of God. The things that God has prepared for those that love him are revealed unto us only by his Spirit. “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” 1 Corinthians 2: 11, 12. No man can speak truly of God in the words of man's wisdom. By excellence of speech and polished mannerisms can no man declare the glories of the risen Christ. We can declare the beauties and truth of the Holy God only as the Holy Spirit give us utterance. “Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2: 13-16. Spiritual things are foolishness to natural people. One must be “born again” and become a spiritual supernatural person to know God. Born again children of God are capable of knowing the mind of Christ through the Holy Spirit. The bible says that: “The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God, they are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doerth good, no not one.” Psalm14: 1-3. A man or a woman, or a boy or a girl remains a worldly fool, according to the word of God, until he or she realizes the truth of God's word that he or she is a sinner, and is eternally lost and without knowledge until he or she acknowledges that we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God, and ask for forgiveness and receives Christ as Savior. Many educated fools, according to God's description are teaching our children in the public schools, the theories of evolution, that man is a mutation of some lower form of life; that man is just an animal, and cannot be held accountable for any moral standards set by a higher authority. Is it any wonder then, that our children act and behave like jungle animals, and carry guns, and knives to school and mutilate and murder each other to solve their problems, when they are brainwashed by these educated ( or non educated) fools? We are told that wise men sought him at the stable in Bethlehem. Some wise men still seek him today in America. How about you? Are you a wise man or fool?

Are You Thirsty? Come and Drink Are you hungry? Come and dine.

May 6, 2016 Are You Thirsty? Come And Drink. Are You Hungry? Come And Dine. By: Robert A. Searles “Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? And you labor for that which satisfieth not? Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.” Isaiah 55 1,2 KJV Bible . “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thought: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him,; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55: 6,7.KJV Bible Think about the wonderful grace of God and the gift of God's love; God offering himself to us as the source of life, cleansing power, and satisfaction for our hungry souls. Those who know not God in the world are empty and hungry and thirsty, and lack satisfaction for their souls. Those who know not God are forever pursuing happiness and never finding it. Those who know not God, toil and sweat and labor, and spend their years in endless searching for something that will make sense in their lives. God made humans in his likeness in such a way that the only thing that makes sense and brings joy and happiness and fulfillment to their lives is when they are right with him and in the right relationship and fellowship with him through the Lord Jesus Christ. God says that if we are thirsty we can come without money and drink from the living waters. And if we are hungry we can come without money and eat the bread of life. God has spread a banquet before us. He has paid the price and he invites all who will to come and enjoy the feast at his expense, all by free grace – God's riches at Christ's expense. “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall followme all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.” Psalm23: 5,6. KJV Bible Whosoever will may come. Jesus said: “He that cometh unto me, I will in no wise cast out.” “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5: 6 . Jesus answered the woman of Samaria and said: “If thou knewestthe gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given theeliving water. The woman saith unto him, sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? Jesus answered and said unto her, whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him, shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4: 10-14. KJV Bible The words of the hymn writer puts it this way: “There is a fountain filled with blood which flowed from Immanuel's veins. Sinners plunged beneath that flood loose all their guilty stains.” Yes, they loose their spiritual hunger, they loose their thirst, they are filled from within, they are satisfied in Jesus. Seek ye the Lord while he may be found and he will satisfy your thirst and your hunger. “Ho every one that thirsteth, come to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.” Isaiah 55: 1. All who call upon the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved. Jesus said: “whosoever cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out.” Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, by faith call upon him and receive forgiveness of sins. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2: 8, 9.KJV Bible “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. Believe it, and receive Christ today and you will never be spiritually hungry and thirsty again. God's Promise of The Holy Spirit

Thought forToday - May 2, 2024

God's Promise Of The Holy Spirit

 By: Robert A. Searles

When Jesus, after his resurrection, left the earth and ascended into heaven, he promised the apostles and other disciples who were present and witnessed his ascent, that in the manner as they saw him go into heaven, he would one day return and receive them unto himself, and while they waited for his return, he would send to them another comforter, the third person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit to be their comforter, teacher, and guide. He commissioned them to go into all the world and preach the gospel, but to wait in the city of Jerusalem until they received the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit.

“If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter, that he may abide with you for ever, even the spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more, but ye see me, because I live, ye shall live also.” John 14: 15-19

“Then opened he their understanding that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them, thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things, And behold I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. Luke 24: 45-49

“And being assembled together with them, he commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, it is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you; and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the utermost part of the earth. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have see him go into heaven.” Acts 1: 4-11

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, behold are not all these which speak Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?” Acts 2: 1-8

“And they were all amazed and in doubt, saying one to another, what meaneth this? Others mocking said, these men are full of new wine.” Acts 2: 12,13

“But Peter standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, ye men of Judea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: for these men are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel.” Acts 2: 14, 15, 16.

“And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.” Joel 2: 28, 29

Unless we have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, we cannot know God, and we are not saved. We can know when we are truly saved because the Holy Spirit which dwells within each believer, bears witness with our spirit that we are indeed the children of God. “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2

: 14. When we are born into the world, we are born naturally – dead to the spirit of God because of an inherited sin nature. Jesus said: in order to know God and be saved and have the Holy Spirit of God dwelling within us we must be born again .

“There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother'swomb and be born? Jesus answered , verily, verily I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again.” John 3: 1 -7.

If any one is to be saved it must be the work of God alone to draw that person to himself, not by the mere choice of the person's will, or of his good works, or good intentions, or the will of others. “Jesus said: Murmur not among yourselves. No man can come to me except the Father which hath sent me draw him, and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, and they shall all be taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.” John 6: 43-45.

“And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Acts 2: 21.

To be saved means to be born again by the power of God when we are willing to confess to God that we have sinned and want his forgiveness, and believe that Jesus paid the penalty for all our sins by his death on the cross, and that we are justified before God by his resurrection. When this happens, we become new born babes in the family of God, and his Holy Spirit enters our lives, and we become spiritually alive to the things of God.

When we are saved, we are saved forever and sealed by the Holy Spirit, and we are promised eternal life – that is as long as God lives, and that is forever.

“That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ in whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession unto the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1: 12-14

“How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation?” Hebrews 2:3

 Please don't neglect your salvation.

The Spiritual Conflict

 The Spiritual Conflict

By: Robert A Searles

When, by the grace of God, we are liberated, and set free from our natural state of blindness and of being oblivious to the things of God, and we by God's grace are given faith and spiritual sight to behold the glory of God and the truth of his word and his creations, we are reborn in the spirit, and suddenly we become aware of spiritual things, and we for the first time, come to see ourselves, as in a mirror, and we see the filthy rags of sin in which we are clothed. We see what we really are by ourselves in our own sinfulness, and we see the glory of God and the righteousness of Christ, and that which he has to offer us, and we cry out to him in despair – Oh God! be merciful to me a sinner, and save me for Christ's sake, and he hears our sincere prayer and immediately saves us. He pulls us up out of the miry pit and sets our feet upon the solid rock, then we have become the children of God, joint heirs with Christ, and inheritors of eternal life. Since the fall of mankind in the garden of Eden, there has been a spiritual warfare raging on earth between God and Satan, and between the children of God and the children of the devil. The children of God, being clothed anew by the righteousness of Christ, are now enlisted in the spiritual army of God and wear the uniform of the valiant soldiers of the King of kings and Lord or lords, all for the glory and honor of their redeemer. We are charged by God that we might war a good warfare. “Thou therefore endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” 2 Timothy 2: 3,4. KJV Bible “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, where unto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6: 12.KJV Bible “But I see another law in my members, in warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.” Romans 7:23 KJV Bible The battle rages between good and evil, truth and error. The enemy is ruthless, and cruel, and powerful, and we are warned by our commander in chief to always be on the alert for the diabolical schemes of our adversary. He sets traps for us to fall into and be taken prisoner, and to be bound in spiritual chains from which, by our own efforts is difficult or impossible to escape – bad habits, attitudes, fear, resentments hatred, anxiety, rebellion, doubts, unbelief -all these and many more lethal weapons he throws at us to destroy our testimony and our effectiveness in proclaiming the truth of God, and claiming territory and winning souls to Christ . Our foes are invisible, therefore we are warned to- “Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, talking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6: 10-17.KJV Bible “Be sober, be vigilant: because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he may devour: whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” 1 Peter 5: 8,9. KJV Bible As soldiers of Christ, we have been well equipped and provided for the strife that lies before us. With Christ, as our commander in chief, our never failing conqueror, we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.” 2 Corinthians 10: 4.KJV Bible When we try to fight the battles of life with our own strength and resources, we fail miserably because in ourselves we are weak and easily succumb to temptations. “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God,” Ephesians 6; 17. KJV Bible “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 .KJV Bible “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.” Romans 13: 12.KJV Bible “By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand, and on the left.” 2 Corinthians 6: 7.KJV Bible “Let us who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.” 1 Thessalonians 5:8.KJV Bible Our enemies are those within our own soul. The battle rages within us. It is here that we must meet the spiritual conflict. Take the weapons that God has provided- read and study the word of God, search for and believe all the promises of God, pray diligently for ourselves and others. Let us have the mind of Christ, and let his teaching dwell in our hearts, and let us walk and abide with him every day and hour of our lives. If we will do this we will have the victory.
