Positive Thinking

 Thought for Today - October 3, 2022
Positive Thinking
By: Robert A. Searles

Do you want to have a positive attitude and outlook on life?  Keep your mind constantly consciously fixed upon God.  “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26: 3.

All the day long, think upon God; think of how holy God is; think of how just God is; think of how merciful and forgiving God is; think always of the love of God, and how he  expressed that love by his sacrifice for us.  Think of how mighty and powerful God is.  Think of how wise God is, and how wealthy he is.  The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof.  Think of how healthy God is; think of him who is full of life.  He is the creator of all life.  Think of how eternal God is, he is the first and the last, the beginning and the end, the alpha and omega.  And then think this one solemn thought:  God wants us to become as he is.  He wants us to be conformed to the image of his son.  If we think in this  way we will be thinking positively even as God thinks.  Therefore, if you want to be positive in  thoughts and attitudes, think always on the lord.

Volunteers Needed

Thought For Today - February 24, 2024

Volunteers Needed!
By: Robert A. Searles

God is looking for recruits and volunteers, those who are willing to go where he sends, and do what he asks them to do to serve him and spread the good news of the gospel.

No one can do the work of God effectively unless they are called and annointed and empowered by the Holy Spirit.  Some may presume to do the work of God in their own strength and power, but will bear little or no fruit for God's glory.  Some may seek to serve God for their own personal gain or glory, and some for filthy lucre.

In our battle for the Lord we will face all manner of evil and unclean spirits.  We must draw our power from Christ in order to combat this evil and be delivered from the power of Satan.

There are no more apostles today, but we who are born again Christians are all disciples who are called of God to go to the lost sheep in our own families, and neighborhoods, and deliver the message of salvation so that sin sick souls can be delivered from their diseases and be healed.

Christ's commission to us today is no different than it was when he spoke to his twelve disciples and gave them power to witness for him.

"And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease." Matthew 10: 1
"These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.  And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.   Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.   Provide  neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,   Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves:  for the workman is worthy of his meat.  And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.   And when ye come into an house, salute it. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.  Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city." Matthew 10: 5-15

You Can Always Come JHome!

 Thought For Today - September 29, 2022

You Can Always Come Home

By: Robert A Searles

Jesus is waiting at the portals of heaven calling, O sinner come home.

A praying Christian mother sadly watches her son or daughter choose the ways of the world and reject the love of God, and home and family.

A Godly father eagerly scans the horizon, and prays that he might catch a glimse of the wandering prodigal returning to the fold.

The hymn writer says it beautifully -"softly and tenderly Jesus is calling....time is now fleeting, death beds are coming, coming for you and for me.....calling O sinner, come home.

Prodigal Son or daughter - No matter how far you may have wandered away from the love of God -your parents - or family- while you live it is never too late. You can always come back home. Watch and listen to the video.

A Goodly Heritage

  Thought For Today - September 28, 2022

 A Goodly Heritage!

 By: Robert A. Searles

“The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.” Psalm 16:6

In spite of all the difficulties and problems we may face from day to day, how fortunate we are if we have been the recipient of God's grace and have been saved and born again into God's family.

I thank God for my salvation. I thank God for a Savior who was willing to leave the splendor of heaven and come to earth to rescue me. I thank God for Calvary; the old rugged cross; the death, burial and resurrection of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I thank God for the person of the Holy Spirit who is my constant companion, my guide and my overseer. I thank God for the written word of God, which administered by the Holy Spirit, is my source of nourishment and renewed strength as I feast upon it.

Yes, because of God's amazing grace, I am a fortunate person. I do have a goodly heritage, the lines are fallen unto me in a pleasant place.

“I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved, therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell: neither wilt thou suffer thine holy one to see corruption. Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Psalm 16: 7-11

Bread in the Wilderness

 Thought For  Today - July 27, 2023

 Bread In The Wilderness

 By Robert A. Searles

After the children of Israel had left Egypt under the leadership of Moses, they wandered in the wilderness for forty years because of their unbelief and disobedience, whereas, if they had believed and obeyed God, they could have immediately inherited the promised land.

Nevertheless, God in his compassion and mercy provided for their needs in the wilderness. He fed them by sending down manna from heaven, and they were told to gather a certain portion for themselves for each and every day. It could not be hoarded nor stored up. If they tried to store up so they would not have to gather every day, they would find it spoiled and stinking.

Likewise, God in his grace and compassion, has provided for us, manna, as it were, while we are wandering about in the wilderness of this world from the cradle to the grave.

The lord Jesus Christ is the heavenly bread which has been sent down from heaven to be our food and nourishment for each and every day. We are told if we will meet with him before the day begins, and eat his flesh and drink his blood by praying and meditation on his word, that we will have the nourishment we need to see us through the day. Abiding in him gives us eternal everlasting life. The more we gaze upon him, the more we become like him.

Look upon his holiness, his kindness, his confidence in God the Father. Look upon his willingness to have the Father's will accomplished in his life. Look upon his power in heaven and earth, look upon his health. Look upon him as our source, our beginning

God's storehouse is brimming over with all that we will ever have need of, and he invites us to come and gather all that we want or need today.

“Then said they unto him, what shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, this is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. They said, therefore unto him, what sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? What dost thou work? Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, he gave them bread from heaven to eat. Then Jesus said unto them, verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven and giveth life unto the world.

Then said they unto him, Lord evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” John 6: 28-35

Bring Forth Good Fruit!

 Thought For Today - September 24, 2022

Bring Forth Good Fruit!

 By Robert A. Searles

We are not to judge one another. No one is qualified to pluck the mote out of his brother's eye while he still has a beam protruding from his own, nevertheless, we are to be discerning, and we ought to know which fruit comes from which tree

No one is above his master, but we Christians all ought to desire to be as our master, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We ought to abide in him, and in his word even as a branch is attached to the vine so that our fruit might be good fruit .

“For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.” Luke 6: 43-44

In this world of practical things, we ought to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. We ought not to associate and derive wisdom and counsel from those among us who might be likened unto the thorns and bramble bushes, where we know that we will obtain nothing but sour and poisonous fruit.

We ought to first of all seek our fellowship with our blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is the first fruit of all that is good and wholesome, and wonderful, and then our earthly associations and sources of wisdom and counsel ought to be with those who are attached to him, and abiding with him as the branch is attached to the vine.

We can know when we have found the good fruit, for: “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of the heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for out of the abundnce of the heart his mouth speaketh.” Luke 6: 45

Here To Serve!

 Thought For Today - September 23, 2022

 Here To Serve!

 By: Robert A. Searles

Once we are saved, we are left here on earth to serve the Lord, and to continue his ministry of reconciliation and good works which Jesus began when he was with us on earth. Now, the members of his body, being many and scattered throughout the world, having been anointed with the power of the Holy Spirit, can accomplish great things for him if we are willing and obedient servants.

We are left here on earth after we are saved, not to do our own will but the will of him who saved us.

The repeated routine of every day life does not make a lot of sense unless we realize why we are doing it. We work to buy food, clothing, and shelter, and some luxuries so that we can take proper care of these bodies, and be happy. Why do we do these things? It ought to be so that the Holy Spirit which lives within us can use us to accomplish great things for the glory of God.

“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise; be thankful unto hi, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” Psalm 100: 1-5

Let Us Run With Patience The Race That is

 Thought For Today - September 11, 2023

Run With Patience The Race That Is Set Before Us!

 By: Robert A. Searles

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1,2

Let us as Christians run the race so that we might receive the crown. We are called to be saved, and called to loose our life in our Savior so that we might gain eternal, everlasting life, but we must be willing to walk as he walked, and endure afflictions as he did and be a partaker of his reproach and his suffering in this present world.

Seeing that we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, we as Christians are in the arena of life and all the host of heaven, the host of hell, all the saints that have gone on to glory, and those who are yet alive are in the grandstands to see how we will run the race of life and to cheer us on. We need to put aside everything in this life, whether it be spiritual or material, which would tend to weigh us down and hinder us from doing the will of God

. We know that we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ and receive for the things we have done in our bodies in this life; therefore we ought to keep our eyes fixed upon Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, and like him, for the joy that is set before us, endure the trials and afflictions and minor annoyances of this life with full assurance that one day when the race is run, we shall share in his inheritance, behold his glory, and be as he is. It is better to suffer afflictions with the people of God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a moment.

We must be diligent lest that for one tiny bit of advantage or comfort in this life, we do not dishonor God and sell our birthright and loose our rewards and inheritance.

Do We Look For Another?

Thought For Today - August 26, 2023
Do We Look For Another?
By: Robert A. Searles

John the baptist, preaching in the wilderness  and baptizing in the Jordan river, pointed to Jesus and proclaimed: “Behold the lamb of God who taketh away the sin of the world.”

Now John, being in prison, has doubts within himself.  John sent two of his disciples to Jesus to ask him plainly- "Are you the one or should we look for another?"

Today, we Christians, though we live by faith and believe the word of God, yet, in trying times it is  possible that doubts and fears may creep into our lives, especially if we are not as close to the Lord as we ought to be, and faithful in studying God's word and praying.  If we are completely honest, we must admit that down in our hearts we have all asked the question- Is it true?  Is the bible relevant for us today? Is Christ alive? Will he return as he said he would? Is there life after death?  Will God forgive our sins?

John being in prison and about to be executed, probably was wondering in his heart - If Jesus was the one, the Lamb of God, the mighty God in human flesh, why would he allow him to be in prison  and be  executed?

We ask very similar questions today -  Why am I going through such troubling times?  Why am I sick and afflicted with a terrible disease?  Why am I lonely?  Why am I going through financial difficulties?  Why am  I so afraid?

Jesus's  reply to John's disciples was that he examine the evidence:  Consider all that came to Jesus for help..  The blind see, the lame walk, lepers, are  cleansed, the deaf hear, even the dead are raised.

When Satan whispers in our ears and tries to get us to question as to whether or not Jesus is real and our faith genuine, then we need to stop and remember the goodness of God in our lives in times past.  Remember when the burden of guilt was lifted off our shoulders when we first believed.  Remember all of our childhood prayers that were answered.  Remember the times that we were afraid and when the Holy Spirit of God was there to calm our fears.  Remember when the Lord healed us when we were sick and came to our assistance when we were experiencing financial difficulties.  Let us carefully examine the scriptures and hear again the testimony of all the eye witnesses of Christ's resurrection and ascension into heaven.  Let us once again examine all the fulfilled prophecies of where and when Christ should be born, and the validity of all his miraculous works.

“Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, and said unto him, art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? Jesus answered and said  unto them, Go and show  John again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up,, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.  And blessed is he whosoever shall not be offended in me.” Matthew 11: 2-6.

The Righteous Shall Flourih Like the Palm Tree

 Thought for Today - September 18, 2023
The Righteous Shall Flourish Like the Palm Tree
By: Robert A. Searles

"The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree; He shall grow like the cedars in Lebanon.  Those that be planted in  the house of the Lord shall flouish in the courts of our God.  They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing to show that the Lord is upright; he is  my rock, and there is no unrightreousness in him." Psalm 92: 12-15.

Who is there that can qualify as to being righteous so as to "flourish as  the palm tree"? None of us, to be sure - "As it is written, there is none righteous, no. not one." Romans 3:10. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23.

There is only one truly righteous person in all the universe who can qualify to be blessed with this promise, and that is Christ. When we believe on him and confess our sin and receive him as our savior, then he, by his grace, is more than willing to forgive our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Then God imputes his perfect righteousness to us, and sees us only as being clothed in the righteousness of his beloved son, The Lord, Christ Jesus.

Our righteousness consists only in the righteousness of Christ if we have accepted his offer of cleansing and  salvation, and only as we abide in him and he in us can we claim the promise that "we shall flourish like the palm tree and be planted in the courts of our God"

Almost Persuaded!

Thought for Today - March 7, 2023
Almost Persuaded
By: Robert A. Searles

If perchance someone may be reading these lines who is not a Christian, and does not know  what it means to be saved, and you do not have the joys of fellowship with our wonderful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, you ought to stop right where you are and consider the alternatives.

It is possible to have a pearl of great price slip through your fingers and be lost to you forever, and it is possible to be so close to much treasure, and yet to lose or neglect it all.

Perhaps a wife or husband; a mother or  father; or a son or a daughter has been praying for your salvation.  Perhaps they have very lovingly told you of Jesus and his power to save.  Perhaps they have very patiently and kindly explained to you God's simple plan of salvation.  It may be that at times the Holy Spirit has tugged at your heart and you have been almost persuaded, almost but not yet, another time, when I am older, after I have  exhausted all the pleasures of a worldly life style: almost persuaded to believe and trust Jesus, almost, but still lost.

You, no doubt, have heard the gospel preached at church, or on the  radio, or television, or from literature such as you are now reading, and yet you continue to neglect your salvation.

My dear friend or relative, whoever you may be, millions throughout the ages have tried and tested the Word of God and have found it to be sure and steadfast and trust worthy.  The Word of God teaches us that it is appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgment, and stand before God and give an account for what he did with God's greatest gift to man, his only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ: That whosoever should believe on him and call upon the name of  the Lord shall be saved.

My friend, the only alternative to being saved is to be lost, and to be lost does not mean cessation of existence or annihilation, but it means to spend eternity in an eternal hell, separated from God, and your saved love on forever.

"How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? Hebrews 2: 3, 4.

If you have  neglected your salvation, won't you reconsider before it is eternally too late?

A loving God and Savior is calling and waiting for you to respond to his invitation.
Time is short, death  beds are coming, Jesus is tenderly calling for you.

God forbid that when my time on earth is ended, that I search over heaven for you my friends and loved ones, and not find you there, simply because you have not heeded the warning.

Jesus Christ loves you so much, and he gave his all for you.  It is so easy to have the assurance of the forgiveness of sin and be persuaded that when you die you will go to be with him in heaven forever.

What must you do to be saved? Believe in your heart that Jesus is the Christ, the divine son of God born of a virgin, and that he died to pay your sin debt to God , and that God the father raised Jesus from the dead as evidence that he had accepted his sacrifice for the salvation of all mankind.

By faith, believe the good news of the gospel, Call upon  Jesus, Ask him to forgive your sins- past, present, and future - and come live in your heart and make him your Lord.

If you will do this you will be fully persuaded  that you are born again, saved, and on your way to heaven.

Thorns in the flesh

 Thought For Today -  September 14, 2022

 Thorns in the flesh!
By: Robert A, Searles

When God delivered Israel into the land of their possessions, he made a covenant with them. He swore to them that he would never break his part of the covenant, and he expected them not to break theirs.

"And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars; but ye have not obeyed my voice; why have ye done this? Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you." Judges 2: 2. 3.

We who call ourselves Christians, and the sanctified children of God, are not to be a part of, nor go along with the pagan ways of the world or the world's way of thinking and philosophy. Our fellowship and conformity with the world's philosophy will be as thorns in our flesh.

All the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua and the elders that outlived Joshua, but after Joshua and the elders of Israel had died, another generation arose which knew not the things of the Lord.

"And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation, after them which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel. And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim: and they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the Lord to anger." Judges 2:10,11,12.

Several generations have come and gone since the founding of America which have not known God, nor considered his works. This is the fault of previous generations of Christians who have not properly taught their children the proper knowledge, or respect for God and his works.

For you who are reading this, if you are a Christian and wholeheartedly believe these truths, why not come out of the wallpaper, so to speak, and let your voices be heard – where you work; from the pulpit; from your church; among your close associates.  Too many of us are remaining silent, and if it continues to be so, it may lead to disaster

Only Trust Him!

Thought for Today - October 9, 2023
Only Trust Him

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and  lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3: 5, 6.

What does it mean to trust in the Lord?  Trust is the word frequently used in the old testament to mean the same as faith in the new testament, for example: to trust is to have faith, and if we have faith, we trust.  It means to take refuge; to lean on; to follow; to wait .  To trust in the Lord is to put full confidence in the word of God for our salvation, and for our strength as Christians, and for our daily needs.  We are told not to lean on our own understanding.  In other words, we are not to try to rationalize or figure out God's amazing grace, or his power, or the working of miracles, or his work of redemption in our lives; but we are simply to trust in what his word tells us. God honors those who have confidence in his word     How can we trust in something with which we are not familiar?  How can we claim promises if we do not know what those promises are?  This is why it is so important for us to spend so much time in God's word, and in our private meditation, so that we can know what God's word has to say, then we can put our trust in it.

“Trust and do good” Psalm 37: 3-5,  In other words, when God has spoken through his written word or through the Holy Spirit in our lives, again, we ought not to try to figure out what is going on in our heart or to rationalize away the working of the Holy Spirit.  Instead, we ought to trust God and do good.  God's word tells us the things that are good and right.  We ought to obey God immediately, with the right heart attitude, when God speaks , and trust God for the results.  As we read and study the word of God, and as God reveals himself to us and we see his glory unfolded before our eyes, we ought to delight ourselves in him. He ought to be our prime source of joy and happiness and gladness, and our chief desire and purpose in life ought to be to love, honor, and serve him.

If we delight ourselves in the Lord, then all the cravings and desires of our heart will be good and pure in his sight, because they will come from on high, and we shall be satisfied when he fills us with his Holy Spirit.

We ought to commit ourselves completely to the Lord.  This means to surrender everything to the Lord.  It is like jumping from a tall building with full assurance that someone will catch us, or we will land on something soft.

We ought to let go in our lives, and let God have our family, our job, our finances, and all that is important to us.
“In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:

Come Worship the Lord With Me!

Thought For Today - September 10  2022
Come, Worship the Lord With Me.
By: Robert A. Searles

Come, worship the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. Worshiping the Lord ought to be our first order of business each and every day. Let us begin our day by reverencing, adoring, loving, and admiring him with our whole heart. Let us be grateful for his loving kindness and tender mercies that he bestows upon us momentarily.

"Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness." 1 Chronicles 16: 29

"O come let us worship and bow down , let us kneel before the Lord our maker." Psalm 95:6

True worship of the Lord is not to be found in rituals or ceremonies, but is an act of the will, and the heart. We must worship in spirit and in truth.. True worship of our Lord is to reverence, adore, love and admire, and be grateful from the depths of our heart.

"God is spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." John 4: 24.

Before we can expect God to answer our prayers we must first worship him.
"While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshiped him saying, my daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her and she shall live. And Jesus arose and followed him , and so did his disciples." Matthew 9: 18,19.

This man, before he asked Jesus to raise his daughter, came and worshiped him.

"And behold, a woman which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: for she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment I shall be whole." Matthew 9: 20,21.

The very thought that this woman had in her mind that if she could just touch his garment she would be healed was an act of worship in her spirit. Jesus rewarded her for her faith.

"But Jesus turned him about and when he saw her he said: daughter, be of good comfort, thy faith hath made thee whole. and the woman was made whole from that hour." Matthew 9: 22.

Believe it Or Not!

By: Robert A. Searles

Whether you believe it or not-God's truth remains, for he does not and cannot lie-“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.”Psalm 9: 17

My God, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me?

Thought for Today -  July 24, 2023
My God,Why Hast Thou Forsaken  Me?
By: Robert A. Searles

Jesus cried out from the cross - "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" Mark15: 34; Psalm 22:1

God had temporarily forsaken his own son so that I and all who will receive him can be saved and reconciled to God our creator and father.

Psalm 22 describes the suffering and anguish which Christ suffered to accomplish our redemption.  Jesus spoke  through the words of David, the psalmist, these prophetic words long before Christ's appearance on earth. - "Be not far from me for trouble is near; for there is  none to help.  Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.  They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and roaring lion. I am poured out like water; all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax, it is melted in the midst of my bowels.  My strength is dried up like a potsherd. and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.  For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.  I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. They part my garments among them, and cast lots for my vesture.  But  be not thou far from me, o Lord my strength, haste thee to help me. Deliver my soul from  the sword; my darling from  the power of the dog.  Save me from the lion's mouth:for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorn.  I will declare thy name unto my brethren: In the midst of the congregation will I praise  thee." Psalm 22: 11-22.

All this and much more did Christ suffer for us, and yet how ungrateful some of us are when we ignore his offer of love and compassion for us.

Christ came into the world to love everybody and to  reveal all the attributes of God the Father, He came to offer himself a sacrifice to pay in full for the sins of all mankind. He did not come to condemn us, but to save us who are already condemned because of our sin nature.

How depraved we all must be when we spit in the face of such genuine, holy love of God. They who spit upon Christ, and did all the things that he describes in the gospels and the psalms, could have received him as their Savior and redeemer, and enjoyed all the goodness and blessings  which he had to offer them.  Instead, they blasphemed and crucified him, and chose Barabas, a man of hate and crime to go free, which typifies all of us who have been freed from sin and condemnation by Christ's sacrifice for us.

We  deserved to be the recipents of all the brutality and receive everlasting punishment.  We are guilty, but Christ was not guilty of any sin or wrong doing.  He was perfect in every way and knew no sin. He who had no sin of his own, took our sins and became sin for us.

May we today remember these things and offer up our praises and thanksgiving for all that we have in Christ Jesus.

"Ye that fear the Lord praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him all ye the seed of Israel" Psalm 22: 23

"All the ends of the world shall  shall remember  and turn unto the Lord: and the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee." Psalm 22: 27.

While We Wait!

Thought For Today - September 7, 2022

While we Wait!

By: Robert A Searles

While we await the sure return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ we are to:

"Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feeble minded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
Rejoice evermore.   Pray without ceasing.   In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Quench not the Spirit.  Despise not prophesyings.   Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.  Abstain from all appearance of evil.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.   Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. 1 Thessolonians 5: 14-

Choose Life!

 Thought For Today - July 17, 2023

Choose Life!

 By Robert A. Searles

“Enter ye in at the strait gate; for wide is the gate, and broad the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be that go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way , which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7: 13, 14 .

If we are saved, and if we know that we are saved and on our way to heaven, stop and think of just how fortunate and blessed we are.

Of all the multitudes of people in the world, we are among the few who are saved and have heaven and the paradise of God to which we can look forward.

Most people who have been born into this world, and there are multitudes, both dead and living, who have walked the broad highway of death and eternal destruction, and will spend eternity in hell, having neglected, and rejected God's offer of forgiveness and salvation.

How precious we ought to esteem the grace of God that has been extended to us through the Lord Jesus Christ! How we ought to treasure this great inheritance we have in Christ!

Relatively few people have received it, although God is not willing that any should perish, and his grace is extended to all who will hear and respond to his call. Blessed are all those whom God has caused to be born into the family of God and have entered the narrow gate that leads to eternal life How great is our God, and how great and how precious is our salvation!

A Nation Blessed?

Thought For Today -  September 3, 2022
A Nation Blessed?

By: Robert A. Searles

Read Psalm 33

The time for mid-term elections in our country is drawing near,    and further on down the road to 2024,  - we are concerned as to what the results may be.  Whatever happens now and then, much depends on each of us individually, and collectively as the redeemed church of Jesus Christ.

God has promised us that if we his people will turn to him, confess our sins and repent, and pray, he will heal our land

Let us rise up o men and women of God and let our voices be heard for God and take back our country.  May God bless America!

A new regime will soon be inaugurated in Washington. Will our nation be blessed? Will God look down from heaven and see his people in control of our great land? Will our leaders call upon the Lord God of heaven and earth for wisdom to make important decisions in the lives and affairs of men? Is the infallible word of God, the holy bible, the compass for our nation to lead us through these troubled waters? Or, will we chose to forget God and his guidance, and be cast into hell as the scriptures warn?

“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all nations that forget God “ Psalm 9: 17.

Or, will we have reason for rejoicing as we are promised by the holy writ - “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule the people mourn.” Proverbs 29: 2.

“Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people.” Proverbs 14: 34.

I pray that in the days ahead, we the people, will have cause for rejoicing and praising God. I pray that when God looks down from heaven he will see righteousness prevailing in our government, and that he will be pleased to bless us.

“Rejoice in the Lord, o ye righteous; for praise is comely for the upright.” Psalm 33:1.

“For the word of the Lord is right; and his works are done in truth.” Psalm 33:4.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. There is no king saved by the multitude of an host; a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. An horse is a vain thing for safety; neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. Behold, the eyes of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy, to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine.” Psalm 33: 16-19. -

Because He Lives!

 Thought For Today - September 2, 2022

 Because He Lives!

By: Robert A. Searles

In the midst of all his trouble and afflictions, Job could say: “I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth; and though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: whom I shall see for my self, and mine eye shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.” Job 19: 25-27

This kind of assurance and faith would enable anyone to endure the light afflictions of the moment in light of the immortality promised to us in the word of God to all who are the redeemed of the Lord.

Nothing can hurt, and nothing can destroy that which God has ordained forever. Christ our Lord came to earth to save sinners. Death could not hold him. He was the first fruits of all them that sleep. Through him, and by him we have everlasting life. This mortal shall put on immortality. This corruptible body shall put on incorruption, and we shall be preserved forever in the presence of our blessed Lord.

Take heart dear Christian friend, some day the clouds will clear away, and the son of God shall appear. “The dead in Christ shall rise first, and we who are alive and remain on the earth shall be caught up together with them to meet the Lord in the air. So shall we ever be with the lord.” Believe it! Receive it! And enjoy it! This is your comfort, your strength, and your joy. That which God has ordained forever cannot be altered by men, nor time, nor circumstance.

Born of God

 Thought For Today - August 23, 2023

 Born Of God.

 By: Robert A. Searles

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3.

“Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot see the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again.” John 3: 5, 6, 7.

My friend, if you cannot fully appreciate the word of God, believe its' promises, and perceive with your heart and mind all the glories, joys, and happiness of the kingdom of God; if you cannot enjoy the fellowship with God as a parent – child relationship, and experience the sense of justification and forgiveness of sins past, present, and future, perhaps it is because you have never truly been “born again” into the family of God.

When Adam and Eve our first earthly parents disobeyed God at the very beginning of creation, they sold their birthright to Satan, and since then every human being that has ever been born has inherited the sin nature, and comes into the world already estranged from God. So, when we are born, we are born in the flesh only. Our spiritual life does not begin at the time of our physical birth.

Although God is the creator of all, he is not the father of all until his child has been conceived and born. God is spirit, he must be worshiped in spirit, and to become a child of God, we must be born in the spirit. “The natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2: 14.

In order to be born into the family of God, it is totally a work of God's grace. We must be drawn by God to hear and accept the word of God as absolute truth, and by faith believe, as it says that - “All scripture is given by inspiration of God”, and that “holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the holy ghost.” One must accept by faith that Jesus Christ is the divine son of God, and that he died for the sins of each individual person who will receive him, and that his bodily resurrection was proof that God had accepted his sacrifice in payment of their sin debt, and for the justification of all who will receive him.

Intellectual knowledge is not enough. The heart must confirm by faith, that which the mind knows factually. The world says prove it to me, and I will believe. God says, believe me and then I will prove it to you by spiritual discernment

. “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God. John 3: 16, 17, 18. \

“As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them who believe on his name, which were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1: 12, 13

Dear reader, I invite you to believe the word of God; to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. If God is drawing you to himself, and has implanted within your heart a grain of faith as minute as the grain of mustard seed, if you are willing, by receiving the Word of God into your heart, this grain of faith will become impregnated with the word of God, and cause you to become a child of God. Then the Holy Spirit will dwell within you and cause you to know God, enjoy God, and perceive the kingdom of God, and have the assurance of eternal, everlasting life.
