God Fixes Things

God Fixes Things!

By: Robert A. Searles

God our heavenly Father, is a kind, loving father who takes great delight in his redeemed children whom he has reconciled to himself by the precious blood of his only begotten, beloved son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

If we have been fortunate enough to have had a loving, kind, earthly father here on earth, we know that we can run to “daddy”, as it were, when we are afraid or in trouble, and he will rescue us. When our toys are broken, he will fix them. When we are afraid of the dark night, he will go with us. Even better than we have ever known on earth, our heavenly father loves us with an infinite love that cannot be equaled. He who formed us from the dust of the earth, and breathed into our nostrils his own breath of life, will never forsake us. He will be there when we slip and fall to lift us up and set us back on our feet again. He is more than willing to forgive our sins when we acknowledge and confess them to him and ask for his forgiveness.

We make many mistakes during the course of our lifetime. We commit many sins; we go down wrong roads. Sometimes our lives are all but destroyed; our hearts are broken; our bodies are near destruction; but, God our father is there to fix them, and he does fix all things for us if we will allow him to. He can and will turn our mourning into dancing and rejoicing for his glory and honor.

“Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sack cloth, and girded me with gladness, to the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent, O Lord my God , I will give thanks unto thee for ever.” Psalm 30: 11, 12 (KJV).

Today - A Gift From God

Today – A Gift From God

By Robert A. Searles

Each day in our lives is a brand new gift from God. There has never been a day exactly like it before, and there will never be a day exactly like it again. It is unique in itself., As someone has aptly said: “This is a brand new day without mistakes, yet. Pray to God that we can keep it without mistakes. “This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad it it.”

Let us not ruin today by borrowing from tomorrow's sorrows, or remembering the mistakes of yesterday. If we at all remember, let us remember the joys and the happiness, and the good things, and let us throw out with the trash, as it were, the negative and bad things.

Let us spend this day, this valuable gift that God has given to us, always aware of his presence and companionship. A day spent in companionship with the Lord is better than a thousand without him. If we have received Christ as our Savior, then today we have eternal everlasting life, and have passed from darkness into light and we don't have to look for tomorrow to come to receive it and enjoy it.

Acceptable Sacrifice

 Thought for Today - November 27, 2022
Acceptable Sacrifice
By: Robert A. Searles

“Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! And let them sacrifice the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.” Psalm 107: 21, 22 (KJV).

“I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. This shall please the Lord better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.” Psalm 69: 30, 31 (*KJV)

An ox or a bullock offered upon an altar as a sacrifice to God is something that can be seen and touched, and something that seems to be real in the earthly sphere of things, and it is probably quite costly to the owner or the person offering it; however, God has said that he values more highly than the ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs, the praise and gratitude from the heart of his people.

God said that love is the more perfect way.; Good works, good deeds, good morals, sacrifice, all these things that man can offer up to God are abominations, and a stench in God's nostrils unless they are genuinely motivated by love and praise and thanksgiving.

Just to be talking about God, and to be doing things that pertain to God, and to be all wrapped up in some service for him in the name of God, is not enough by itself. Martha was busy about many things, she was so wrapped up in doing things, that she had little time for the Lord himself. Jesus did not say that Martha was completely wrong in doing, but he did say that Mary had chosen the better part. What was the better part? The better part was to sit at his feet and worship him, and listen to his teaching, and love him and show her gratitude, praise, and thanksgiving, by washing his feet with her hair.

The acceptable sacrifice to God is love and gratitude to God. Jesus said: “Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and all thy mind and all thy soul.” Our love of God will cause us to put everything else aside and make the Lord truly the Lord of our lives, and seek him first in all things, and trust him for all our needs.

God will not fail us if we truly trust and believe his word. If we will be preoccupied with God – God has promised that all our needs will be met and that our hearts wil burst forth wit new wine. Let us pray that God will help us individually and together to offer the right kind of sacrifices to him, which is the best of our time, the best of our life, the first fruits of all our increase, the first part of every new day, and live in such a way that we will be a testimony to all people that we rely wholly on God, and not our own efforts, nor our own wisdom.

A Tree Of Life

A Tree Of Life

By: Robert A. Searles

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” Proverbs 11: 30 (KJV).

We see a tree growing in the midst of other trees, and we can usually determine what kind of a tree it is by examining the fruit which it bears. How refreshing, and restoring it would be if we were travelers in the wilderness, and suddenly came upon a tree with fruit which we could eat.

The verse says: “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life.” Are we like a tree planted in the vineyard of our God? Are we one of those that be planted in the house of the Lord, and are we flourishing in the courts of our God? Are we a tree called “righteous”?

“The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing”. Psalm 92: 12-14 (KJV).

Righteous trees that are flourishing in the courts of God shall still bring forth fruit in old age. Is the fruit that we are bearing, life giving, and life sustaining to travelers who pass our way? The scripture says that the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life. Will someone live and be sustained, and grow because they have eaten of our fruit today? Are we truly a tree of life? Are we truly soul winners? He that winneth souls is wise.

Choose Life!

Choose Life!

By Robert A. Searles

“Enter ye in at the strait gate; for wide is the gate, and broad the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be that go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way , which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7: 13, 14 (KJV).

If we are saved, and if we know that we are saved and on our way to heaven, stop and think of just how fortunate and blessed we are. O all the multitudes of people in the world, we are among the few who are saved and have heaven and the paradise of God to which we can look forward.

Most people who have been born into this world, and there are multitudes, both dead and living, who have walked the broad highway of death and eternal destruction, and will spend eternity in hell, having neglected, and rejected God's offer of forgiveness and salvation. How precious we ought to esteem the grace of God that has been extended to us through the Lord Jesus Christ! How we ought to treasure this great inheritance we have in Christ!

Relatively few people have received it, although God is not willing that any should perish, and his grace is extended to all who will hear and respond to his call. Blessed are all those whom God has caused to be born into the family of God, and have entered the narrow gate that leads to eternal life.

How great is our God, and how great and how precious is our salvation!

Pray For One Another

Pray For One Another

By: Robert A. Searles

“To Timothy, my dearly beloved son – grace, mercy, and peace , from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. I thank God whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day.” 2Timothy 2,3 (KJV).

How should we pray for one another? We ought to pray for each other as Paul prayed for Timothy – that God would give to our beloved wife, or husband, or children, or parents, or friends, grace, mercy and peace.

Grace – the unearned gifts from God, God's unmerited favor, undeserved forgiveness and pardon, unearned, and undeserved eternal life, and undeserved provision for their moment by moment needs.

Mercy - God's infinite compassion for us, that is - G not pouring out his wrath and judgments on us when he would be justified and righteous in so doing, lso, God's willingness to come more than half way to meet and greet the runaway prodigal and rebellious child, and welcome him back intoi the family.

Peace – that peace that only God can give to comfort our hearts when we are in the center of his will, a sense of well being, and knowing that everything isall right in our father's house, and so it iswell with us who are his children.

May we learn to pray for one another that God would grant his grace, mercy, and peace, even as Paul prayed for Timothy.

Our Kinsman Redeemer

Our Kinsman Redeemer

By: Robert A. Searles

Ruth, returning with her mother in law Naomi from the land of Moab after Naomi's husband and sons had died, one of them having been the husband of Ruth, found themselves in need of help and assistance to survive. Where could they go? What could they do?

“And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz. And Ruth, the Moabitess, said unto Naomi, let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace, and she said unto her go my daughter. And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers; and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.” Ruth 2: 1-3 (KJV).

In times of our spiritual want and famine, when we see ourselves impoverished, and not knowing where to turn for help, where shall we find grace (that free gift), and be allowed to glean in his field? Where else, excerpt in Christ our kiinsman , our Father's son, our savior, and our brother? He it is that we must seek after.

“Then said Boaz unto Ruth, hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens; let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them; have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? And when thou art atrhirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.” Ruth2: 8,9 (KJV)

Once we have found him, Christ our kinsman redeemer, or better still, when he has found and rescued us, we need not, and we must not go to glean in any other field.

“Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I an a stranger?” Ruth 2: 10 (KJV)

Why have we, unworthy sinners, found grace in the eyes of the Lord that he should take knowledge of us to shed his blood for us and save us, seeing that we are sinners and strangers to him. We should be so grateful for what Christ has done for us! Why should we have found grace in his eyes? Only because he has loved us from the very foundations of the earth.

“And Boaz answered and said unto her, it hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband, and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore. The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come o trust.” Ruth 2: 11-12 (KJV).

God will surely reward all those who flee to him for salvation, and lean upon him for wisdom, and trust in his providence

When Ruth returned home that day from the field of Boaz, her mother in law asked her, “where hast thou gleaned today? And where wroughtest thou? Blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee, and she shewed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, the man's name with whom I wrought today is Boaz.” Ruth 2: 19 (KJV).

Matthew Henry once said: “It is a good question to ask ourselves every night, where have I gleaned today? What improvements have I made in knowledge and grace? What have I done that will turn in a good account?”

Create In Me A Clean Heart!

Create In Me A Clean Heart!

By: Robert A Searles

“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Deliver me from blood guiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness. O lord open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.” Psalm 51:7-15 (KJV).

Bad odors rise up from a dirty and cluttered basement. Likewise, bad attitudes and negative ideas germinate in the depth of the heart of people whose minds have not been thoroughly purged of the residue of former things that were contrary to the will of God and not pleasing to Him. The bible tells us that we need to have the inner man, or our heart of hearts, (our subconscious mind), renewed and washed daily in order to be rid of the bits of sin that so easily beset us and cause a bad stench to rise up from within us, and cast a bad reflection on the works of God. We need to take a bath, as it were, in the word of God daily, and ask God to wash us with the water of his word and make us clean, and create in us a clean heart. and a pure mind.

The Fall Of Evil

The Fall Of Evil

By: Robert A. Searles

In 1 Samuel chapter five: We are told that during battle with Israel, the Philistines had captured the ark of God, which represented the very presence of God to Israel, and carried it away to the temple of Dagon, their false god. When they arose in the morning they found that Dagon had fallen on his face before the ark of the lord. Why of course - how could that which is false and evil, stand before that which is true and holy? Worshipers of Dagon restored their god to its' former place in the temple, and again on the morrow, the idol had again fallen on his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord, and the head of Dagon, and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold, only the stump of Dagon was left of him.

“Therefore, neither the priest of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day. But the hand of the Lord was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, even Ashdod and the coast thereof, and when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said: the ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us; for his hand is sore upon us and upon Dagon our God.” 1 Samuel 5: 5-7 (KJV)

Just as the wickedness and sin of the world is an abomination and grievous to the true born-again children of God, so likewise, the things of God are an abomination to the evildoers of the world and worshipers of devils. God in the midst of an unregenerate world, or even in the life of an unsaved individual, means nothing to them but a guilty conscience, and the wrath of God laying heavily upon them, and anguish. This is why God is expelled from government, politics, public schools, and every public event. Those who are guilty of denying God cannot endure anything that reminds them of the presence and power of God.

We see, however, the things of God triumphant in the end, and always victorious over evil. As Dagon was destroyed, so shall all that is evil be destroyed by the almighty power of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Blessed Are The Poor In Spirit!

Blessed Are The Poor In Spirit!

By: Robert A. Searles

“Bow down thine ear, O Lord, hear me: for I am poor and needy. Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee. Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily.” Psalm 86: 1-3 (KJV).

God loves us and wants to provide for all our needs. We have the privilege of calling on him and laying our burdens on him; but we must surrender all to him, and trust him completely, and truly desire his will for our lives. God will not help the person who is self sufficient, or thinks he is, one who has no need for anything, or anybody. We must recognize our depravity and sin, and receive Christ as our sin sacrifice and Savior before we can receive God's help and blessing.

Tribute To A Godly Mother

My annual Mother's Day Tribute to a GodlyWoman

Special For Mother's Day - May 14, 2023

In loving remembrance of my mother – Annie Hamilton Searles – 1901-1961

Tribute To A Godly Mother !

By: Robert A.Searles

Today, my Father of all creation, I want to thank you for causing me to be born to a godly mother. Not perfect in all her ways, to be sure, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; but one whom I believe early in life recognized her need of salvation and to be born again, and reached out by faith to receive the greatest gift that could be offered to her, the Lord Jesus Christ; his life, his shed blood, his death and his glorious resurrection, for the propitiation of her sins.

Consequently, these many years that have passed since she left us, I believe she has been, and is now rejoicing in your presence, around your throne with myriads of angels, singing: “Worthy is the lamb that was slain.”

In life she feared God, obeyed the law, and honored her husband. She made her home a haven of rest, a sanctuary from all the tumult and strife that is in the world. She was a friend to all, and her house was like the 'house by the side of the road', open to all who needed a meal or a shelter. She had but one son, who in her lap and at her knee heard of God for the very first time, who was warned by her to escape hell, that terrible place, and to love and obey God who loves us all. From a tattered old hymn book she taught me to sing: - “I am happy in the service of the king, I am happy, oh , so happy.”

Not until later years did I realize just how happy I could be in the service of the King, but now my Father, I know that there is no other road to happiness.

I believe that when the trump of God shall sound, when the dead in Christ arise, when time shall be no more, and when the roll is called up yonder, she will be there.

Thank you my Father for the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for forgiveness of sins. Thank you for eternal life and the hope of heaven, and thank you for a godly mother.

Use The Tongue Wisely!

Use The Tongue Wisely!

By: Robert A. Searles

“I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. I was dumb with silence. I held my peace, even from good and my sorrow was stirred. My heart was hot within me. While I was musing, the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue. Lord make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is, that I may know how frail I am.” Psalm 39: 1-4 (KJV).

We must be careful as to what we speak with our tongue. The tongue is one of the chief instruments which Satan uses to cause us to sin. On the other hand, the tongue can be used as an instrument of praise to God, and sound instruction and admonition to our fellowmen. The psalmist promised himself that he would bridle his tongue and keep silence, but he was so overwhelmed with the truth of God's word that while he thought on these things, the fire burned within him and he was compelled to speak.

We need to listen to God's word and be so overwhelmed with the truth that he reveals to us, and the desire to share his truths with others, , that the fire burns within us until we use our tongue to speak right things. We need to speak only those things that God would have us to speak, especially to the unsaved. We are obligated to use our tongue to defend the faith and to teach the gospel, and win souls to Christ.

Is God Real To You?

Is God Real To You?

By: Robert A. Searles

Is God real in your life? What, or who do you really think God is? Is God an intricate part of you as an individual? Is God as much a part of you as your breathing, or your heartbeat, or your walking and moving about? Is God just an ideal; a good idea? Is God just a philosophy of life that we pick from a book? Is God just a psychological means of control to keep us from doing immoral things? Is God just a good thought that we think about for a few moments each day, and then close the book and put it on the shelf for another day, or until something bad or unpleasant happens to us for which we have no answer, and we recognize that we need wisdom beyond ourselves? What and who is God to you as an individual?

God's word teaches us that God is a spirit, a supernatural invisible spirit. They that worship God must worship him in spirit. God's word teaches us that the supernatural invisible spirit of God manifested himself in the person and body of Jesus of Nazareth while he was on earth. Jesus ascended into heaven after his resurrection, and sent the Holy Spirit to literally live in our bodies. If we choose and desire to have it so, God the Holy Spirit will clean our house and literally, as a matter of fact, actually take up residence in our bodies. At this point it is God himself living in us to will and to do of his good pleasure. If we choose to have it so, it will be God himself in us creating our wants and desires, and it will be God himself in us controlling our thoughts and the very movements of our bodies.

If God is really living in us, we don't really have to set up a lot of rules and regulations for ourselves, because it will be God himself that will be in control., We have to grasp the principle that we were made and designed to be the house and temple of God, the place where God lives, and walks, and has his being. Of course , before God can live in us, we must be changed, we must be born again through faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we must willingly yield ourselves and open the door so that the Holy Spirit can move in and take charge.

Where do you go for counsel? Do you look to people, someone whom you admire for their great intellectual capacities, or do you look within yourselves, to the Holy Spirit of God who dwells and lives in each one of his born again children?

"Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that covereth with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin that walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt." Isaiah 30: 1,2 (KJV).

Did it ever occur to you that if you look to a person for counsel, even though that person may be a child of God, and even though that person may be much admired for his outward appearance and apparent service to the Lord, he may not be completely yielded himself to the spirit of God, and so be limited as to the wisdom he has from God? God want us to look to no person for counsel. He wants us to come directly to the throne of grace and seek his wisdom and counsel.

Do we pitch our tents, as Lot did, so that we can look toward Sodom? Have we separated ourselves unto God, just enough, so that if we wanted to, it would not be too difficult to take a walk down into Egypt, as it were, which is typical of the world of sin and bondage from which we came. Are we prone to trust in the shadow of Egypt? Do we say that we love and trust God, but after all when we get hungry we must run after the things of the world to get satisfied?

When we trust in men, and in the world system, and have no real vital relationship with the living God who wants to live and walk and abide in us, then no wonder we have no power, and are frustrated and confused. “Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.”Isaiah 30: 3 (KJV).

Cry Unto The Lord

Cry Unto The Lord!

By: Robert A. Searles

“Unto thee will I cry, O Lord my rock; be not silent to me; lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit. Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle. Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts. Give them according to their deeds and according to the wickedness of their endeavors: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert. Because they regard not the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up. Blessed be the Lord, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth, and with my song will I praise him., The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed. Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.” Psalm 28 (KJV).

Have your noticed a small child when he wants something? What does he do? He cries and throws a tantrum to his parents or to those who are in charge of him until he gets their attention and makes them become aware of his desires. Sometimes he gets what he cries for and sometimes he doesn't; but the point is, he makes them become aware of his desires. God wants his children to cry unto him with hope and enthusiasm for the things that we need and desire. We are to approach God as dear children. The bible tells us that except we come as little children, we cannot approach God.

Sometimes small children cry and throw tantrums and nag their parents for things that are good and right for them, and sometimes they nag for things which are wrong and bad for them. It is up to the parent to decide what is best for the children, but the point of all this is that the small child has enough knowledge and faith and confidence in his parents to believe that his parents love him enough so that they will not ignore his crying and nagging.

God honors our faith and confidence in him as a parent and he wants us to cry unto him and nag him, as it were, for the things that we need and desire,, and as a wise God and father, he never ignores us but gives us those things which he knows are good and right for us., If we want to be built up and prosper, we must regard the works of the Lord and realize that the universe is his. He made it, and he has a perfect right to control it

A parent gives a child protection when that child puts his faith and confidence in the tender mercies of his parents. Likewise, God shields us and protects us when we come running and crying to him as a child. Jesus, in the garden, cried and cried to God in such agony that he sweat great drops of blood. Jesus told the story of the man who was asleep with his family, and his neighbor came pounding on his door and nagging him. He had to open the door because of his constant nagging. Jesus likened this to God answering us if we are consistent and constant in prayer. God answers those who believe in him enough to keep pounding at his door and crying unto him like dear children.

“And Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh; and Moses cried unto the Lord because of the frogs which he had brought against Pharaoh.” Exodus 8: 12 (KJV). “And the people murmured against Moses, saying, what shall we drink? And he (Moses) cried unto the Lord; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them.,”Exodus 15: 24, 25 (KJV).

“In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his heart. Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook because he was wroth.” 2 Samuel 22: 7,8 (KJV) “The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.” Psalm 34: 17 (KJV)

“And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;....Exodus 3: 7 (KJV). Egypt is a type of the world in which we live, surrounded by sin and corruption. As God heard the cry of the children of Israel while they were in Egypt and delivered them, so he will hear our cry from our surroundings and deliver us.

“And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli,. Lama sabachthani ? That is to say, my God, my God, Why hast thou forsaken me?” Matthew 27: 46 (KJV). Jesus thought it to be effective to cry aloud with a loud voice to God. In the coming kingdom of God there will be no more need for crying and nagging because our inheritance will be in our hands, and we will be in the presence of God.

“And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people; and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.” Isaiah 65: 19 (KJV). “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away.” Revelations 21:4 (KJV)

While we are still here on earth, waiting for the return of the Lord, and waiting for his kingdom to come, what a privilege we have to come crying to God as his dear children.

Praise!

Praise!

By: Robert A. Searles

God is well pleased with his children when they open their mouths in praise to him. What could be more fitting for the children of the heavenly Father than to salute and greet one another with praises to God, along with a pleasant good morning? Of course, in order for the praise to be pleasing to God, it must truly come from our hearts, and not just from our lips. God is worthy of our praise. “Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name. He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.” Deuteronomy 10: 20, 21 (KJV).

God has done some great and wonderful things for us. He gave his son, he shed divine blood to pay our sin debt. He forgave our sins and reconciled us to himself when we were lost and without hope. He hears our prayers, he gives us our daily bread, and supplies all our needs according to his riches in heaven. When we praise him with our lips, originating in our heart from a true sense of gratitude, we are declaring to the listening ear, the greatness and glory and worthiness of God. “Who is like unto thee, O Lord among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?” Exodus 15: 11 (KJV)

We ought always be praising the Lord with our lips as well as with our lifestyle. What good is secret praise? Secret praise or unspoken words of gratitude are never heard, and how can they be enlightening or edifying to anyone else, that they might know how great we know our God to be? “Hear, O ye kings, give ear, O ye princes, I, even I will sing unto the Lord; I will sing praise to the Lord God of Israel.” Judges 5:3 (KJV). “I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.?” Psalm 7: 17 (KJV). '”My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.” Psalm 22: 25 (KJV).

My praise in the great congregation means that we praise him publicly, among all people, let them know that we are praising God. When we greet someone with praises to the Lord, we are saying to that person that we acknowledge God to be our source of all our benefits. This is pleasing to the Lord. “Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous; for praise is comely for the upright. O praise the Lord with harp; sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. Sing unto him a new song, play skillfully with a loud noise. For the word of the Lord is right, and all his works are done in truth.” Psalm 33: 1-4 (KJV). God has said that whoso offereth praise glorifieth me

When we glorify God we receive strength and power for our own lives. Praising God is being obedient to God. Obedience brings God's good favor and blessing. “Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me; and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.” Psalm 50: 23 (KJV).

Shall we covenant or agree with God that: “I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.” Psalm 34: 1-3 (KJV).

My Daily Bread

My Daily Bread

By Robert A Searles

Give me this day my daily bread so that my soul might find nourishment in thee, O God of my salvation, and that I might have to give to others, that they too might be fed. Except thou dost break the bread to me, I cannot feed the hungry. A person can receive nothing except it be given him from God. You have told us, dear Lord in your word, that as our days are, so shall our strength be. Each day the manna falls from heaven upon your beloved own, and provision is made for our well being; therefore, dear Lord, we ask for strength that we might gather that which you have already provided for us.

Your word O God is a banqueting table to which all who will hear your voice have been invited to come and dine. A banqueting table filled with the finest cuisine of heaven; the bread of life; the lamb of God; the heavenly manna, the Lord Jesus Christ who said that if we eat of his flesh and drink his blood we shall never hunger and never thirst. He is at the head of the table with his arms outstretched and calling to the multitudes, “come and dine”. Sinner, will you believe and receive Christ as your Lord and Savior today and partake of the bread of Life?

Christian friend and brother and sister, will you leave the scraps of the world to the hogs and come to your Father's table and eat like a king's son or daughter? God has promised that he will supply us with daily bread, but our daily bread is found within the pages of his holy word. We must gather and eat by reading and prayer, and meditation in a disciplined time and manner. Then the Holy Spirit will feed us. Then we will have enough for ourselves and others, and baskets full left over.
