God Is King Of All The Earth

Thought For Today - October 14 2023

God Is King Of All The Earth

By Robert A. Searles

"O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph. For the Lord most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth. He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet. He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah. God is gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding. God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness. The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted." Psalm 47:1-9

He Shall Swallow Up Death In Victory

Thought For Today - July 9, 2022

He Will Swallow Up Death In Victory -  By: Robert A. Searles

The day will come when Israel will recordnise the Lord Jesus Christ as their Messiah when he returns. What a wonderful promise and consolation we have from God our Father through the Lord Jesus Christ that "He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it. And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him,and he will save us:this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation." Isaiah 25:8,9

The day will come when God will completely fulfill this promise when our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ returns to earth to claim his throne.

He is the righteous king to whom all creation belongs. When he comes, death will be abolished, and the sting of death swallowed up in victory.

There will be no more need for tears, for in his reign and kingdom there will be no sorrow. His people will no longer be looked upon as the down trodden and outcast of the earth. On the contrary, they will rule and reign with him forever. Those of us who have called upon the Lord Jesus Christ to save us have the witness of the Holy Spirit within us which causes us to rejoice in our salvation

We know that all of God's promises are true. We wait patiently and longingly for the great day of the Lord to come, and for Jesus to be crowned King of kings and Lord of lords. Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus.

The Lord Is Our Shepherd

Thought For Today - June 3, 2023

 The Lord Is Our Shepherd

By: Robert A. Searles

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever." Psalm 23.

Sheep, for the most part, are helpless creatures and have no effective defense against predators and their enemies. Whatever sheep want or have need of they are provided for by their shepherd. If their shepherd is a good one, the sheep lack nothing and are content to lie down with confidence that they are being cared for. David, the psalmist, likens himself to sheep, and praises God that he has the confidence in God his shepherd, that even in the midst of war and turmoil and danger, his shepherd will go before him and prepare a way for him, and spread a table for him in the presence of his enemies. The good shepherd will find the green pastures, and the still waters, and the safe places. We too are God's workmanship and the sheep of his pasture. We are born into a world of dark shadows. The shadow of death haunts us from the cradle to the grave. Everywhere we go we see the shadow of death. We see it in the vegetation; we see it in the animal kindgom; we do not have to go far to see something that has died, and we are reminded that we too face the same fate. We also are reminded that our shepherd will see us through from the cradle to the grave, from birth to death, no matter how soon or how late that may be. If we, his sheep follow our shepherd we have no reason to fear either life or death

Those who have not received Christ as their Savior, and follow him as their shepherd are lost sheep and are wanderers in a hostile world of darkness and the shadow of death, and unless they bow their knees to him and confess that they, by nature are lost sinners, and ask him to save them, have every good reason to fear.

The lost as well as the saved walk through the valley of the shadow of death every day. The saved have the confidence and assurance that their shepherd will lead them safely home through the valley of the shadow of death, whereas,  the lost will be swallowed up in death and cast into hell.

Are you saved and a sheep wih a shepherd, or are you a lost wandering sheep? Only you can answer that question..

Does God Forget Us?   By: -  Robert A. Searles

Does God Forget Us? Read all of Psalm 22:1-31 "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent. But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded. But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, He trusted on the Lord that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help."  This prayer of David was a forerunner of the prayer of Christ when he was hanging on the cross. In his humanity he cried out-"My God,My God, why hast thou forsaken me?"

When we are in pain or trouble, and it seems that no help comes, does it not seem that God has forsaken us? In these times of darkness and desperation we must keep trusting and believing God and we shall be delivered. God delivered David from the hand of Saul and made him a great king, and God delivered his own son, the Lord Jesus Christ from the power of the grave, and gave him power over death for all of us. So, even in darkness we must keep our faith in the promises of God and continue to live in the light of his word, and be assured that we will be delivered.

Let Us Sing a New Song

Thought For Today - June 22, 2016 Let us sing a new song By: Robert A. Searles "O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth. Sing unto the Lord, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people." Psalm 96: 1,2,3 "Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. Praise the Lord with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise." Psalm 33: 1,2,3 "O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory." Psalm 98:1 "Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints." Psalm 149:1 "I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee." Psalm 144:9 Wait patiently for the Lord. He hears, and he will answer. I used to sing an old song when I was bound in the muck and mire of sin.The song that is being sung by the world, the flesh, and the devil. But God, through his mercy and grace pulled me up out of the miry pit and set my feet upon the solid rock, and put a new song in my heart. The song that I now sing is a melody of the love of Christ, sins forgiven, and a new relationship with the God and creator of the universe-the Lord Jesus Christ. He took the worn threads of the filthy rags that I was wearing, and wove them into a beautiful garment likened unto the garment of his righteousness -a garment of praise and worship to bring honor and glory to his name. Grace! Grace! Grace! What marvelous grace!- A song of deliverance, and restoration to God my father through Christ Jesus his son. Listener friend, won't you hear my song this morning, and with me sing a new song and claim your salvation and rejoice in the Lord? I hope you will, and have a good day and may God bless you. Why Sit In The Darkness When You Can Walk In The Light?

  Thought For Today - March 25, 2023

Why Sit In The Darkness When You Can Walk In The Light?

 By: Robert A. Searles

"Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;  Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High: Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help. Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.  He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.  Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!  For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder. Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.  Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.  Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.  He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.  Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!  And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.  They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;  These see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep.  For he commandeth, and raiseth  the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.  They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.  They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end.  Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.  He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.  Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven. Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" Psalm 107:8-31

Is There Oil in Our Lamps?

Today's Message - Is There Oil in our lamps, and are our wicks trimmed?

 By: Robert A. Searles

"Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh." Matthew 25:1-13

They that Trust In The Lord Shall Be As Mount Zion

They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. For the rod of the wicked [1] shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity. Psalm 125: 1-3

Righteousness Exalteth A Nation

   Thought for Today - June 4, 2022

 Righteousness Exalteth A Nation   -  By:Robert A. Searles

“When the righteous are in authority the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” Proverbs 29: 2.

How do we define “the righteous” and “righteousness”? The holy word of God ( the Holy Bible) says that there is none righteous.

“As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one: there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable: there is none that doeth good, no not one.” Romans 3: 10 - 12

If, according to God's word there be none righteous, who then can be deemed righteous enough to be placed in positions of authority to rule over us in the every day affairs of government?

After the coming elections are over, and a new president and his or her cabinet take office, will we have cause for mourning or will we be rejoicing? Perfect righteousness can be found only in the person of Jesus Christ, God's only begotten son. Only those who have believed and received him as Lord and Savior, and strive to be obedient to him, have had his righteousness imputed to them, and are looked upon by God as being righteous and qualified, according to God's word, to rule.

We had better pray diligently for our government leaders, and when it comes time to elect new leaders, if we want to keep our country free, with happy, prosperous people, we had better make sure that when we cast our vote, we ascertain whether they are righteous or wicked, and are standing for righteousness, or if they have no regard for the inspired Word of God.

“Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer. Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.” Proverbs 25:4,5

If we do not wake up and take heed to what God tells us in his word, someday it will be too late. “He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.” Proverbs 29: 1.

When God tells us over and over again to do something, or not to do something, and we do not take heed, then there comes a time when God cuts us off without hope.

“In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice. The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it Proverbs 29: 6,7

Are we righteous? Do we sing and rejoice? Do we consider the cause of the poor and the downcast and try to do something about it?

The Awesome Power of God.s Love and Mercy

 Thought for today - May 15, 2022

The Awesome Power Of God's Love And Mercy By: Robert A. Searles

The raging sea, with its' resounding roar, battering the rugged, rocky, coastline; the roll of the thunder echoing across the valleys, lending a message of impending danger to man and beast, and warning them to seek cover; and the fearsome lightning streaking across the heavens, and striking where it may and destroying all in its' path, as well as the mighty force of wind hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes which tear up forests and make havoc of homes and property, speak to us of the mighty power and omnipotence of our awesome God and creator. When we observe the rage, anger, and power being displayed in these forces in the natural world, we are reminded from the scriptures, that God is exceedingly angry over sin every day; and if he chose to pour out his rage and anger on us as sinners, we would most surely be without hope and most miserable.

“God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.” Psalm 7: 11.

But God is loving, kind and merciful, and is not willing that any should perish. He could, if he chose to to do so, in his exceeding wrath and anger over sin, use his power to destroy the world and cleanse it from all sin; but instead, as he restrains and limits the forces of nature, and sets the boundary of the raging seas, and allows it to come thus far and no more; and as he controls the thunder and lightning, and earthquakes, and natural disasters, so as to preserve man and beast, that men and women, boys and girls, might come to repentance and learn of him and be saved, he witholds from us his rage and anger, and pours out his mercy upon us.

“The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger. and of great mercy.” Psalm 145: 8.

We see the great wrath and anger of God poured out on his only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ, on Calvary's cross for our sins, that he might pay our sin debt for each of us. We see his great power revealed in the resurrection of Jesus as the first begotten from the dead for our justification, and we see his everlasting love and care for us in his ascension into heaven, and even now as our great high priest. We, the inhabitants of earth become severely angry at times, with each other, and with our circumstances, and sometimes our anger turns into rage, and when this happens, we lose control, unless we are walking closely with the Lord. When anger turns to rage, this can lead to murder and gross sins.

“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath, for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.” James 1: 19, 20. “Be ye angry, and sin not. Let not the sun go down upon your wrath. Neither give place to the devil. Ephesians 4: 26,27. “And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor. Ephesians 5: 2. May we, as Christians,, strive to walk In love, and with the help and grace of God avoid extreme anger and rage that will lead to sin. Perhaps someone my be reading this who is not a Christian. I urge you, with all my heart, to stop and consider the infallible word of God, The Holy bible which tells us of the love of God for man kind. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16. Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures. He was buried and rose again the third day according to the scriptures. He showed him self alive after his resurrection by many infallible proofs. This was all accomplished by Christ in order that he might pay the penalty for the sins of all who would believe him and call upon him by faith. The question was asked a long time ago -how must I be saved? The answer came back – believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved, and thy house. I sincerely invite you to get alone in your quiet place, and call upon the Lord Jesus Christ, believing that he hears you, and ask him to forgive your sin and come live in your heart, and at that moment that you sincerely believe, your sins will be forgiven and you will be set free from the slavery of Satan. You will have become a new born child of God and eternal life with Christ will be yours forever. May God bless you!
