My Daily Bread

Thought for Today - September 30, 2023
My Daily Bread
By Robert A Searles

Give me this day my daily bread so that my soul might find nourishment in thee, O God of my salvation, and that I might have to give to others, that they too might be fed.

Except you do break the bread to me, I cannot feed the hungry.  A person can receive nothing except it be given him from God.  You have told us, dear Lord in your word, that as our days are, so shall our strength be.  Each day the manna falls from heaven upon your beloved own, and provision is made for our well being; therefore, dear Lord, we ask for strength that we might gather that which you have already provided for us.
Your word O God is a banqueting table to which all who will hear your voice have been invited to come  and dine.  A banqueting table filled with the finest cuisine of heaven; the bread of life; the lamb of God; the heavenly manna, the Lord Jesus Christ who said that if we eat of his flesh and drink his blood we shall never hunger and never thirst.  He is at the head of the table with his arms outstretched and calling to the multitudes, “come and dine”.

Sinner, will you believe and receive Christ as your Lord and Savior today and partake of the bread of Life?

Christian friend and brother and sister, will you leave the scraps of the world to the hogs and come to your Father's table and eat like a king's son or daughter?

God has promised that he will supply us with daily bread, but our daily bread is found within the pages of his holy word.  We must gather and eat by reading and prayer, and meditation in a disciplined time and manner.  Then the Holy Spirit will feed us.  Then we will  have enough for ourselves and others, and baskets full left over.

Why Do the Ungodly Seem to Prosper?

Thought For Today - September 29, 2023
Why Do the Ungodly Seem to Prosper?

By: Robert A. Searles
Read Psalm 73 - -

" Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wickedFor there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm. They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men. Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment. Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish. They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth. Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High? Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches. Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency. For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning. If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children. When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end. Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction. How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terror As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image. Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins. So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee. Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works." Psalm 73

The ungodly seem to prosper in the world - - why? Why does it seem that those who have acknowledged the sovereignty of God, and have accepted Christ as savior, having had their hearts cleansed, and having had their hands washed in innocence in the blood of Christ, seem to be plagued and chastened every morning. ?

The psalmist was complaining of this, and was tempted to envy the wicked because, on the surface, it seems that everything always went well with them, while those who were faithful and steadfast before God were being persecuted, laughed at, and suffered want.

Many so called wise men and women today, who call themselves learned scholars, deny the existence of God, and scoff at any idea of an intelligent
deity, and  in spite of their prosperity, do not acknowledge that they are set in slippery places, and will be eventually responsible to give an account to the  creator of the universe for the blessings which they have received from him, while the poor, faithful, steadfast widow, with her widow’s mite offers her all on the altar of faith, and gives glory to God for all things. Is the poor widow wiser, after all, than these learned scholars?

The psalmist concluded after all that the scoffers are those who who will be  cast down to destruction, and will be utterly consumed with terrors

. “Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction. How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.” Psalm 73: 18-19.

Truly wise man and women still seek Jesus, whereas, the worldly wise with their arrogance, wealth, and education reject him; but in the end, this we know, as the psalmist has proclaimed -  “For lo, they that are far from thee shall perish; thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all his works.” Psalm 73: 27,28.

“Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them, for their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief. Through wisdom is an house builded, and by understanding it is established: and by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” Proverbs 24: 1-4.

We must not envy the worldly wise and those who seem to prosper in their wickedness, nor should we covet his goods. We who love God and want to live by his precepts have the sure promises of God that the palaces of a wicked king will crumble and fall, but the hut, the tent, or the tabernacle of the righteous shall flourish.

“The house of the wicked shall be overthrown; but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish. There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Proverbs 14:11-12.

PS; May all my readers be blessed! God loves us all! Jesus Christ died for us, and rose again to save us! Praise God!Share this gospel truth with your friends and the world. Amen!

Abundant Salvation

Abundant Salvation

Thought for Today September 28, 2023

Abundant Salvation

 By: Robert A. Searles
They that abound in the salvation of God through Christ are the light of the world. They bring the light of hope into a dark and dying world which is filled with sin and darkness. The faithful become radiant as stars.

“And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” Daniel 12:3.

They who abound in salvation and faithfully serve the Lord out of love and gratitude for him will receive a royal welcome in heaven.

“Then shall the king say unto them on the right hand, come ye blessed of my father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the founation of the world.” Math 25:34.

They who abound in salvation may be afflicted and have to suffer trials and tribulations for a season, but our light afflictions add to the final glory.

“For our light affliction which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” 2 Cor 4:17

Our abundant salvation through Christ assures for us a triumphant entrance into heaven.

"For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:11
The precious blood of Christ which was spilled for us to give us our abundant salvation, guarantees us a place near to the heart of God, and we are given a place near the throne of God.

" And one of the elders answered, saying unto me,what are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, sir thou knowest. And he said to me, these are they which came out of great tribulation and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” Rev 7: 13,14. “therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.” Rev 7:15 - -

All Of Grace

Thought for Today - September 27, 2023

All Of Grace

  By Robert A.Searles
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works,  lest any man should boast.  For we are his workmanship, created  in  Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that  we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2: 8, 9, 10.
God saved us because he wanted to, not because had to.  He saved us because he loves us;  because he created us for himself unto good works.  He saved us because he is not  willing that any should perish.  Our salvation  is  by grace alone, through faith.  He imparted unto us the faith to believe the gospel and to call upon Christ to save us.
At one time we were without God in the world, having no hope; but while we were lost, while we  were yet sinners, Christ came to save us, as many as will  believe and receive him as lord and Savior.
“But now in Christ Jesus, ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.  For he is our peace, who hath made both one,  and hath broken down the middle wall of  partition between us; having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances: for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace: and that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby, and came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.  For through him we both have access by one spirit unto the Father.  Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets unto a holy temple in the Lord; in whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God through the spirit.” Ephesians 2: 13-22.
Both Jew and Gentile are invited by God the Father to partake of his grace, and receive Christ as Savior, and become part of his body, the church, and enjoy his  benevolence forever.

We Become Like That Which We Think About

 Thought For Today -  September 26, 2023

We Become Like That Which We Think About

  By:Robert A. Searles

“The wicked through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God; God is not in all his thoughts.” Psalm 10:4.

Do we seek after God the very first thing that we do when we awake each morning? Is God in all our thoughts, or is God in any of our thoughts? It is very possible to perform services in the name of God, and to do good works in the name of God without really giving much thought to God, and without really seeking the presence and fellowship with God.

Do we really worship and praise God in the spirit? Do we worship God in the beauty of his holiness, are we truly in love with God, or are we just in love with the idea of appearing Godly?

Young people reach an age when they think that all that matters is being in love with members of the opposite sex. Psychiatrist will tell you that most of the time, they are not in love with any one person, but they are in love with the idea of love, because it seems to be the in thing to do. This is why it is dangerous for young people to get deeply involved with this sort of thing until they get older, but this is just an example of what can happen to us as Christians. We can become so involved in the idea of serving God, and being all wrapped up in activities, and going to church, and we can get so busy doing things, that we might forget to seek God, and exclude him from any or all of our thoughts. If we are to worship God properly, the way that God wants us to worship him in the beauty of holiness, we must worship him in spirit and in truth. God must be predominant in all our thoughts. What does it mean for God to be predominant in all our thoughts? It means that when we awake from sleep, our first thought will cause us to consciously fix our mind upon the Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father, and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and that by the process of our will, we choose to keep our mind fixed upon God all during our working hours. Every thought that comes into our mind during the course of the day will be in subjection to him. This is what it means to keep our mind and hearts stayed on him.

“Thou will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee.” Isaiah 26: 3

We are, and will become that which we think about. We can choose that which we think about; therefore, it is up to us really what we are, and what we will become, because by the process of our conscious will we choose the things that we think about.

If the predominate thought in our mind is on the Lord Jesus Christ, and the beauty of his holiness, then we will, more and more each day grow into his image and likeness.

Proverbs 23: 7 tells us that : “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he."

Again, we are and become that which we think about.“Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God.” Romans 12: 2.

Our power with God, and our blessings from God are directly related to our prayer life. What is prayer? Prayer is the verbal expression of the thoughts of our heart. In prayer, our lips express the thoughts of our mind. It is in the mind that we must worship God in spirit, and it is in our mind that we must pray. Our power and blessing from God comes through praying without ceasing. 1 Thes 5:17 tells us to “pray without ceasing”

How can we pray without ceasing? We pray without ceasing by thinking, without ceasing, of the Lord Jesus Christ. “In all thy ways acknowledge him and he will direct thy paths” Proverbs 3:6

“Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are of good report: if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Phil 4:8. We are and  become that which our mind is fixed upon

Righteousness Exalteth A Nation

   Thought for Today - September 25, 2023

 Righteousness Exalteth A Nation

 By:Robert A. Searles

“When the righteous are in authority the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” Proverbs 29: 2.

How do we define “the righteous” and “righteousness”? The holy word of God ( the Holy Bible) says that there is none righteous.

“As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one: there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable: there is none that doeth good, no not one.” Romans 3: 10 - 12

If, according to God's word there be none righteous, who then can be deemed righteous enough to be placed in positions of authority to rule over us in the every day affairs of government?

After the coming elections are over, and a new president and his or her cabinet take office, will we have cause for mourning or will we be rejoicing? Perfect righteousness can be found only in the person of Jesus Christ, God's only begotten son. Only those who have believed and received him as Lord and Savior, and strive to be obedient to him, have had his righteousness imputed to them, and are looked upon by God as being righteous and qualified, according to God's word, to rule.

We had better pray diligently for our government leaders, and when it comes time to elect new leaders, if we want to keep our country free, with happy, prosperous people, we had better make sure that when we cast our vote, we ascertain whether they are righteous or wicked, and are standing for righteousness, or if they have no regard for the inspired Word of God.

“Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer. Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.” Proverbs 25:4,5

If we do not wake up and take heed to what God tells us in his word, someday it will be too late. “He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.” Proverbs 29: 1.

When God tells us over and over again to do something, or not to do something, and we do not take heed, then there comes a time when God cuts us off without hope.

“In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice. The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it Proverbs 29: 6,7

Are we righteous? Do we sing and rejoice? Do we consider the cause of the poor and the downcast and try to do something about it?

What is Your Compass?

Thought For Today – September 23, 2023
What is Your Compass?
By: Robert A. Searles

We are told by men of experience in seamanship and navigation of the importance of a compass on a dark night or in a dense fog on the high seas.

When upon the ocean billows a ship is floundering in a storm, and the fog is so thick that you cannot hardly see a hand before you, sometimes you get to wonder whether or not you can or should trust your compass.  It seems at times that the needle is pointing in the wrong direction from what you think to be right, but the wise seaman will have first checked his compass before he launches out into the unknown.

When he is far from home and from land, if he is wise, he will follow the direction that the compass indicates as its' faithful needle points to the true north reference point.

My dear friend whoever you may be, we are on a broad uncharted ocean of life, lost and not having any sense of direction or knowledge of how to find our desired haven until we accept the
Word of God, which has been tried and found to be true. as our compass.

Simply by taking the teaching of the Word of God and obeying its' laws and principles by faith, just because God said it, we, must believe it and follow it to guide us safely home.  Our compass tells us that the way home to heaven is by the way of the cross.  There is no other way.  Broad is the way that leads to destruction, but narrow is the way that leadeth unto life eternal.

“Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by him.”

Weary sailor are you lost in the fog, unhappy, depressed, discouraged, fearfully tossed on the sea of life, desiring eternal everlasting life, and seeking heaven, but not not knowing  where to find it?  You have at your disposal a compass which has been tried and is true, the  Holy Bible, the divinely inspired Word of God.  It points to the true reference point for all of life, the Lord Jesus Christ.  It tells us how we are sinners from birth and without hope in the world,  and that we all have sinned against God and are condemned to die;  but it also tells us of how Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners.

He died for our sins, and was buried and rose again the third day, all according to the scriptures, so that we might by faith receive him as  our savior and allow him  to lead us safely home.

Expect Great Things From God

 Thought For Today - September 22, 2023

Expect Great Things From God

By: Robert A. Searles

"I am the Lord thy God which brought thee out of the Land of Egypt. Open thy mouth wide and I will fill it." Psalm 81:10

Those of us who are saved and know Christ as our personal Savior Can expect to receive great things from God our Father.

God delivered his people,Israel, from the slavery and bondage of Egypt, and this is a type and picture for us today of how we through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross are wonderfully delivered from the bondage and slavery of sin, and are given the assurance of God's blessings and provision for us.

God tells all of his children simply to have faith, believe, and open wide our mouths and he will fill them.

When we purchase something of great value, usually we take good care of it, we keep it polished and protected and preserved.Likewise a great and terrible price was paid for our salvation, the blood of the only begotten son of God. As the redeemed children of God, we are in God's sight of great value to him as his offspring and servants.

Therefore, God has promised to fill our mouths with good things, and keep us eternally for his glory, so, by faith let us open our mouths wide and expect God to fill us abundantly with great things- the assurance of God's blessings and provision for us.

PS; May God bless all my readers! God loves us all! Jesus Christ died for us, and rose again to save us! Praise God!Share this gospel truth with your friends and with the world. Amen!

Walking with God!

 Thought For Today - September 21, 2023

Walking with God!

By: Robert A. Searles
Fellow Christians, let us examine ourselves, are we walking each day with God? Is he our constant companion wherever we go, and whatever we do? Do we go anywhere, or do anything that we could not go or do in the companionship of God? Are we really walking with God, or is he just tagging along behind because we have put ourselves, and other things ahead of him? He has promised never to leave us, nor forsake us; but we are guilty of ignoring his presence with us ,because sometimes we want to indulge ourselves - we want to go places, and do things, and be involved in things that we know God will not be a part of because he is Holy and righteous.
"Enoch walked with God for three hundred years and begat sons and daughters, and all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty five years; and Enoch walked with God and he was not for God took him." According to Genesis 5: 22,23,24.
Three hundred years is a long time to walk with God, but God and Enoch must have had a glorious time together, because their relationship was so intimate that Enoch was the first person to be raptured. One day God and Enoch were so involved in each other's company, that suddenly Enoch was not, for God took him.
God gives special favors and privileges and honors to those who will choose to walk with him, to deny self, and to forsake places, and things, and companions that are not pleasing to God.
"Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Noah was a just man and perfect in all his generations, and Noah walked with God." Gen 6: 8, 9.  Noah was given the honor of preserving life on planet earth during the flood.
To walk with God, we must agree with God in all points. "Can two walk together except they be agreed?" He that would walk with God must believe and agree that he is, and that he is a rewarder of all those who diligently seek him. Without faith it is impossible to please God.  To walk with God, we must agree with God when he says: "there is none righteous, no, not one." Rom 3: 10. And,” All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Rom 3: 23. And,” The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Rom 6: 23. To walk with God we must agree with God that these words apply to us, and declare with Paul, that we are chief among sinners, but the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3: 16.
To walk with God, we must agree with God that our standing with him does not come as a result of our good works, or our own righteousness, but - "By grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, not of works lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2: 8,9.
God made people in his own image to walk with him. This is our calling as the ultimate creation of God. "Whosoever will may come." Jesus said. "All who come to me I will in no wise cast out. "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good: and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God." Micah 6:8. "For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro through out the whole earth to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him." 2 Chron 16: 9. "He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing." Job 28:10. "The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven; his eyes behold, his eyelids try the children of men." Psalm 11:4. "Behold. the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine." Psalm 33: 18. "The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil." 1 Peter 3: 12.
Beware, we are under constant surveillance. We are constantly being watched. Shakespeare said: "All the world is a stage and men and women merely players." What he should have said is that men and women are like microbes under God's microscope, although God does not need a microscope to see all the hidden things of men's heart, his eyes are sufficient.
We are being watched by the Lord ,,and all the host of heaven, to see what our choices will be in any given situation. the Lord's eyes are searching for the person who will choose to walk humbly with him and honor him.  God does not overlook anything that he finds to be precious in his sight. God is ready and pleased to reward righteousness and faithfulness when he finds it.
My fellow Christian, if you have been saved by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, won't you come out of hiding, as it were, and make yourself known to the world as a Christian, hating sin as God hates sin, but loving the sinner as God loves sinners. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, and glorify God.  Fellow Christian, God gives you a free will to choose good or evil, life or death.   This old world in which we live is on its' last legs. Sin and corruption and wickedness prevail everywhere, and even our own beloved country is ripe for the judgment of God. We, who are called the children of God,  must choose to walk with God moment by moment, and day by day, and put on the uniform of the redeemed child of God. As a good soldier of Jesus Christ, we must not  become so entangled with the things of this life that we would be handicapped in the army of the Lord. If you have tasted and seen that the Lord is good and merciful, and that he has raised you up out of the miry pit, how can you not with gratitude, present yourselves a living sacrifice to God which is your reasonable service, that you might walk with him, and that he might cleanse you and fill you with his spirit, and completely take over your entire being, so that you might be an instrument in his hand ;so that he might work a good work in you and through you as he did with Enoch and Noah, and all the other saints down through the ages who chose to walk with God.
The bible teaches us that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming again, and when he comes, he will have with him crowns and rewards for those who were willing to choose to obey him, to hear his call, and go forth to battle for his glory. Fellow Christian, right now as you read this message, you are of necessity making a choice. What will it be ?

Above Every Name

Thought for Today - September 20, 2023
Above Every Name

By: Robert A. Searles

Who is the person that is most talked about in the world today?  Everywhere you go, you cannot escape it, where ever you go today you will hear everyone from all walks of life talking about this person, yet they speak of him in blasphemous, and dishonoring terms, and use his name in vain, and drag his name through the mud, and trample his love gift under foot.  This person is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yet, we Christians, who claim to be the born again, the  re-created children of God, shy away from talking directly about the Lord Jesus Christ.  In our daily conversation with other Christians, and the outside world, how often are we actually talking about the Lord Jesus Christ, and sharing with our friends how wonderful he is?  We talk about our church, and our pastors.  We talk about our Sunday school class.  We talk about all kinds of activities, and programs and service, but it seems to me that the person of the Lord Jesus Christ himself is terribly neglected.
Jesus never intended for us to separate the sacred from the secular.  He wants to be involved in everything we do.  Sometimes we tend to put the Lord Jesus Christ in a glass case and put him on the shelf and talk about things that pertain to him, but this is not his proper place.  He does not want to be an object of conversation only, he wants to be involved in it.
When we are sitting in our living rooms the name of the Lord Jesus Christ should be as common in our conversation as anyone else there.  He wants to be part of our family group,  He wants to be our guest for dinner every day.   Oh! How we ought to really love the Lord Jesus Christ after all he has done for us!  We ought to praise his name and exalt him in all our doings.
Even when we are eating an apple we can love Jesus because he made all things and sustains all things and freely gives us all things to enjoy.
So often the church, the activities, and the service programs in which we are involved take the place of our actual, personal relationship with the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.  All these programs are good and should not be neglected, but these should come about and be  the result of our deep love and gratitude, and personal relationship with the Lord, not as a substitute for it.    What a wonderful person the Lord Jesus Christ is! How he loves us and how we ought to love him in return!  “For God so loved the world that he gave  his only begotten son that whosoever  believeth on him should not perish but have everlalsting life.” John 3: 16.
God did not send the church to die for us. He did not send angels, he did not send pastors, he did not send activities and he did not ordain services to be the propitiation for our sins.  No, he sent the person of the Lord Jesus Christ to die for us and to be raised again for our justification.  He alone is worthy of our praise and worship.  He alone is the object of our love.  He ought to be the center of our life and conversation.
Don't  just say – I am happy, but rather say  - The Lord Jesus Christ  makes me happy.”  Don't just say: “this is a good day”, but rather say:  “The Lord has given us another beautiful day”.  Don't say: “I have a new dress, or a new car, or a beautiful house, or things”, but rather  say: “The Lord has showered me with all these blessings to enjoy.” Don't avoid calling him by name by just saying in a vague way, “Lord, “ “The Lord, “ or “God,” or “the man upstairs,”or “the creator”, or “the divinity”.  These are all proper names for him to be sure, but he wants to be known in a familiar way and known and proclaimed as the Lord Jesus Christ whom we know and love as our own personal Savior.
We sing, O, how I love Jesus, but many times he is grossly neglected and ignored from our conversation and activities, and from actual involvement in our lives.
None can proclaim, with honesty, The Lord Jesus Christ as his own personal Savior and Lord, and acquaintance, and object of love unless he has been born again.  Jesus said: “except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3: 3.  “Not everyone that  saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7: 21.
And what is the will of our Father?  It is to love the Lord Jesus Christ with all our heart, all our
mind, and all our soul.  No man can  call Jesus Lord except he be led  and taught of the Holy Spirit.

God's Advice When We Are Tempted to Neglect Public Worship

 Thought For Today - April 6, 2024

God's Advice When We Are Tempted to Neglect Public Worship

By: Robert A. Searles

"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.  Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do  any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within  thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven  and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the  sabbath day and hallowed it." Exodus  20: 8-11

"O come,  ler us sing  unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation,  Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.  For the Lord is a great God, and a great king above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of  the hills is his also. The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker,For he is our God, and we are the people of  his pasture, and the sheep  of his hand. Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your  heart as in the provocation, and as in the day oif temptation in the  wilderness. " Psalm 95: 1-8

"And they  continued  stedfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and  signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common; and sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart.  Praising God, and having favor with all the people.  And the Lord added to the church daily such s should be saved." Acts 2: 42-47

"And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works. Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves togeher, as the mnner of some is: but exhorting one another: and so much more, as  ye see the  day approaching." Acts 10: 24-25

The sabbath day was a special day decreed by God, to be observed or set aside as  a day of rest,  after having labored for the past six days, as a reminder that God had labored for six days to create the heaven and earth and all things, and rested from his labor, And said "it is good".  It was a day to be set aside  for all unnecessary work to cease, in order that all men and women, boys and girls,  and yes, even the work animals, and even he land would have an opportunity to regain strength and energy for the next week of labor.

It was also a day when people could  count  iheir blessings, and give thanks and remember the goodness  of God and praise him.

Today, we  Christians observe Sunday, ( the first day of the week) to reflect and mediate on the goodness and blessings of God. It was on the first day of the week that Jesus Christ appeared to the apostles and disciples  where they were gathered together  that first Sunday night, after God had raised him from the dead.

From that time forward Christians meet together on Sunday to worship , to greet one another, and find eternal rest for our  souls through the death and resurrection of Christ.

The assembling of ourselves together as Christians at least once a week should not be neglected if at all possible.

PS; May God bless all my readers! God loves us all! Jesus Christ died for us, and rose again to save us! Praise God!Share this gospel truth with your friends and with the world. Amen!
