The Likeness of Christ

Thought For Today - October 26, 2022
The Likeness Of Christ
By: Robert A. Searles

As Jesus our Savior was  the image of the  invisible God when he was on earth, so we as Christians ought to bear the image of Christ in our bodies while our Lord is now back in heaven with the Father.

We are to be witnesses of him even as he was a revelation and a witness of the  Father. A  witness is one who shows forth or proclaims to be true that which is, and that which is true.

Someone has said that  we  tend to become like that which we behold, and affix our thoughts upon; then if this is indeed true, we need to be  constantly beholding the lamb  of God that taketh away the sins of the world, and by steadfastly fixing our gaze upon him, let his image be formed in us that the world in which we live and have to do will see a reflection of the living Christ in us.  And by our yielding  our mortal bodies to  him they might truly  be his holy  temple wherein dwelleth the presence of the  Holy Spirit and righteous God, established in the faith  and resting securely upon the word of God.

If we are to be witnesses, then: “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him, Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after  Christ.  For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.  And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.” Colossians 2: 6-10.

Blessed is He Whose Sin is Forgiven

Thought for Today - October 24, 2022
Blessed Is He Whose Sin Is Forgiven
By: Robert A. Searles

Oh! How blessed is the one whose sin is  forgiven, whose iniquities are remembered no more!  How it blesses my heart and soul to know that there is forgiveness with God!  If God should hold grudges, as it were, and mark our iniquities, who should stand?

“There is none righteous, no, not one.” Romans 3: 10. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God with the exception of one, and that one person, our blessed Lord and Savior was perfect in all his ways and he who was sinless himself , bore all our sin and shame on the cross when he died for us; but praise God! He rose again the third day, proving that he is God and that God the Father had accepted his sacrifice of himself as the propitiation for all our sins, for as many as will receive it by faith, there is forgiveness with God for all our foolishness when we bow before him, acknowledging our folly and ask for his mercy to be bestowed upon us.
Weary sinner, come to the foot of the cross and see Jesus dying in your place.  Let the drops of his blood fall upon you by faith, and realize that divine blood was shed for you, and that because of the price that was paid, you are valuable to God.  Then by faith visit the empty tomb and see that it is indeed empty:  that he is not here but was raised for our justification, and because he lives, be sure that  all of us who have put our trust in him shall live also.

Wandering prodigal, far from home, far from the Father's fellowship which you once knew, come home.  There is forgiveness with God.  Come back to the fold, come apart from the world.  Our father is ready to kill the fatted calf and put a ring on your finger and clothe you with his righteousness.  Oh yes! Thank God, there is forgiveness with God.

“If thou Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?  But there  is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.  I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word  do I hope.” Psalm 130: 3-5.

An Instrument of Praise

Thought for Today - October 23, 2022

An Instrument Of Praise
By: Robert A. Searles

If God would cause my pen to fly swiftly across the pages of a book, I would want it to be an instrument of his praise: for who can tell of the majesty and power, and the glory of God our Father?

Oh Holy Spirit who dwells within me, I pray that thou will glorify our risen  Christ with the words that I think, and speak, and write, and that out of my belly will flow rivers of living waters that might overflow into the lives of others through the way I live and by the way I speak.

Create in me, oh  God, a clean heart and a pure mind, and let my meditation be ever of thee.  “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to thee, O God my Savior.”

Whosoever you may be who reads these lines, be it known unto you that: “The Lord, he is God.” “It is he who hath made us and not we ourselves.”

It is God who has saved us by the shedding of his blood, and - “There is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4: 12.

“At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that
Jesus is LORD to the glory of  God the Father" Philippians 2:10- 11

Pen, fly swiftly and tell the world of the glory of my God so that he might be glorified and  pleased with me, and receive me into everlasting habitations.

To Know God Better

Thought For Today - October 21, 2022
To Know God Better
By: Robert A.Searles

If I knew God the way that David knew God I could praise him as David did.  Oh! To be a man after God's own heart even as David was said to be:  To be absolutely sure that - “The Lord is my shepherd and that I shall not want, he maketh me to lie down in green pastures.” Psalm 23.

Faith to believe is a gift of God, and God gives to every man a measure of this precious commodity as he sees fit.  To walk closely with God,  one must be  clean inside and out.

“Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in his holy place?  He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart , who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.  He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of  his salvation.” Psalm 24:3-5.

Jesus Christ, whose blood was shed to be  the propitiation for our sins has imputed to us his righteousness and we can now stand before  God,, guilty, but blameless.  This  is our access to God the Father and close communion with him

No Blank Pages

Thought For Today - October 20,  2022

No Blank Pages
By: Robert A. Searles
Each new day is a page in the story of our life.  God forbid that there should be one page left blank on which God does not receive honor and praise and glory.
“This is the day which the Lord hath made, let us therefore rejoice and be glad in it.”  Give God the glory, for great things he hath done.  Without him we could do nothing.  With him we can accomplish great things.  We are indeed more than conquerors through him who loved us.  Today let us be grateful for God's kindness and mercies.
Today let us sing forth his praise.  Oh Lord help us by your grace to love you more and worship you more.  Help us to grow in wisdom and the knowledge of Christ so that: “....we might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding that ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience, and long suffering with joyfulness: giving  thanks unto the Father which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who Hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his  dear son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins; who is the image of the invisible God, the first born of every creature: For by him were all  things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones or dominions or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him and for him  and he is before all things and by him all things consist. Colossians 1: 9-17.

Pressing Forward

Thought for Today - October 18, 2022
Pressing  Forward
By: Robert A. Searles

This is the first day of the rest of our lives.  Having come before our Lord this morning in prayer, and according to his faithfulness to cleanse and forgive, having received forgiveness and cleansing, let us begin at the place where we are at this moment, forgetting those things which are behind and reach forward to those things which are before us.  We can do nothing about what has passed except to ask God to forgive us for our sins and short coming, but by God's grace and enabling power, we can if we will, take that which we have now and “Press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3: 14.

What is the prize of the high calling of God? The prize of the high calling of God is: “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.” Philippians 3 10.

The prize of the high calling of God is our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ:  “Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able to subdue all  things unto himself.” Philippians 3:-21.

Light up the World

Thought for Today - October 17
Light Up The World
By: Robert A. Searles

Let us Christians who love Christ shine as lights in the world, illuminating the darkness with our presence, and put to shame every evil thing because it is God who worketh in us to perform his good works.  We ought to work for God with fear and trembling.  We work for earthly employers with fear and trembling, fear of loss of rewards if we fail to perform as we are expected.  Much more we ought to work for God with fear of loss of much greater rewards if we fail to perform for him as we as Christians are expected.  We who are saved need to be diligent workers for the Lord.

“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.  For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do  of his good pleasure.  Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye  may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; holding forth the word of  life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have  not run in vain, neither labored in vain.” Philippians 2: 12-16.

Lifestyle of Christians

Thought for Today - October 16, 2022
Lifestyle of Christians
By: Robert A. Searles

The lifestyle of all Christians ought to be such as becometh the gospel of Christ.  Our lives ought to be honoring to Christ in every way.  The way we think; the way we speak; the way we act; ought to manifest the life of the Holy Spirit who dwells within us.

All truly born again Christians are supernaturally bound together by the indwelling Holy Spirit, and ought to stand fast with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.  Christians ought to expect to be treated by the world and the enemies of Christ in the same manner as Christ was treated by the world.  If the world did not want to accept the lifestyle of Christ, then we cannot expect the world to be engrossed by our lifestyle if indeed Christ lives in us.

“Only let your conversation  be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.  And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.  For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.” Philippians 1: 27-30.

Have Faith in God

Thought For Today - October 15, 2022
Have Faith In God
By: Robert A. Searles
“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall  be able to quench all the fiery  darts of  the wicked.” Ephesians 6: 16.
God honors the faith of the believer towards himself.  We are justified by faith and the just shall live by faith.

Faith toward God is resting our confidence on him who is invisible whom we have not seen, but believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of all them that diligently seek him.  Abraham believed God and it was counted to him for righteousness.
Confidence in the reality of God and his goodness will enable us to put aside all doubts and fears, and the fiery darts of the wicked, and give us the strength and power we need to overcome the world.
By faith in God the Red  Sea was crossed successfully by the Israelites; by faith in God many victories have been won.  By faith in God we who are his children shall arrive safely on the opposite shore and see Jesus and be reunited with those who have gone before.  Have faith in God, he cannot fail.  Have faith dear friend in God.

Go about doingh good

Thought for Today - October 13
Go About Doing Good
By: Robert A. Searles

As Christ our Lord went about doing good, we Christians ought  to be continuing the work and ministry of our Lord by going about doing good.

Christ was in the world offering salvation to all who would believe and receive him.  He gave rest to the weary and comforted the lonely; he healed the sick and raised the dead, and brought new hope to the hopeless.

We ought to continue doing all that God will give us the power to do so that Christ's work and ministry might continue through us.  God may not give us the power to heal the sick or raise the dead (he could if it was his purpose), but he has commissioned us to offer salvation to the lost through his name and to bear each other's  burdens, and to share each other's sorrows and joys, and to make life easier for those around us.

We ought to be so secure in our own salvation and the love of God that we can forget ourselves and concentrate on the needs of others.

“With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men; knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.” Ephesians 6: 7, 8

.  God will be no man's debtor, we cannot out give or out serve the Lord. When we go about doing good in the service of the Lord, we will find ourselves in a  combat zone with all the forces of the devil against us.  We must put on the armor and use all the defenses that God has provided for us.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the  wiles of the  devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore  take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the  evil  day, and having done all to stand.” Ephesians 6: 10-13

Hell is No Joke

Thought for Today - October 9
Hell Is No Joke!  -  By: Robert A. Searles
Has anyone ever told you to “go to Hell”?  Have you ever told anyone to “go to Hell”?  Have you heard any  “jokes” about Hell?  Have you told any  “jokes” about Hell?  My friend, allow me to tell you and warn you, by the authority of  the  Word of God, the holy bible, that Hell is no joke and is not to be trifled with and taken lightly.
Hell is a real place, even as earth is a real place, and Heaven is a real place.  Hell is a place of continual fire, kindled by the anger of God:  “For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest Hell and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the  foundations of the mountains.” Deuteronomy 32: 22.
Hell is a place prepared by God for the devil and all the rebellious angels who followed him, and the eternal abode of all who willfully reject the love of God.
“Then shall he say also  unto them on the left hand, depart from me ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.” Matthew 25:41.
No one will automatically go to Heaven; but everyone WILL automatically go to Hell unless they are SAVED.  There is no middle ground where we receive a  second chance.  Someone has rightly said: “Going to Hell requires no decision, and no reservation is necessary.

Unless we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ: that he is God manifested in the flesh, Emanuel, God with us, and that he came to offer himself a sacrifice to pay the penalty for our sins, and unless we confess that we are all sinners and need a Savior and recognize Jesus Christ as our redeemer and rescuer, and call upon him to have mercy upon us and save us, our destiny will be to spend eternity in that horrible, eternal place called Hell.  Being in Hell forever is the natural state of mankind without God, just as cold  is the natural state without heat, and darkness the natural state  without light.
To be condemned by God and separated from him forever means Hell, indeed!  The bible says: “He that believeth on him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God, and this is  the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” John 3: 18, 19
My friend, if you would rather “hide out” as it were, in the darkness of sin, and rebellion rather than to enter into God's light of love; if you are a lover of this world rather than a lover of God, then on the  authority of God's word, Hell is your  inheritance forever.  When our blessed Lord Jesus Christ walked on the earth, he taught and warned of the dangers of Hell fire more than the
glories of Heaven. Hell is a place of continual, everlasting sorrow, grief, anguish, pain and suffering; it is a place of perpetual darkness where there is “weeping and wailing, and gnashing of teeth”, and as the scripture says: “the worm dieth not” - that is – the fire is never extinguished, the thirst is never quenched, the pain is never eased, the loneliness and despair of being  forever separated from a loving God and godly loved ones is never abated. - See Matthew 8: 12 and Mark 9: 43-48.
“The children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of  teeth,” “If thy hand offend thee, cut it off it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two  hands to go into Hell, into the fire that  never shall be quenched: where their worm dieth not, and the fire  is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for
thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into Hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched.  And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into  hell fire, where their worm dieth not and the fire is not quenched.”
The Lord Jesus Christ confirmed the fact that Hell is a real place of fire and eternal punishment, and gave us warning that it is to be avoided at all cost

There is a great gulf fixed between Heaven and Hell, between the good  and the evil.  That gulf cannot be crossed.  No one is able to go from one to the other.  God is kind, and merciful and long suffering, but he has warned us that “his spirit shall not always strive with man.” Gen   6: 3.  One day God will close the doors of Heaven and all who have refused to hear his call will be shut out, and then all there is  left is Hell forever.  Today, the door of Heaven  is wide open, God is  calling.  If you hear his voice, answer his call and be saved: “Now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6: 2.
Tomorrow may be too late.  The door might be shut.
In Luke's gospel chapter 16, verses 19-31, Jesus told of one who was rich in this world's goods and thought he had no need for God; but when he died he went to Hell: “And in Hell he lift up his eyes being in torments, and seeing Abraham afar off and Lazarus ( a poor  beggar, who in his lifetime knew and trusted God), in his bosom, he cried and said, father Abraham have mercy on me and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water  and cool my tongue for I am tormented in this flame”  Now it was too late for him to repent.  The door had been closed.  He was there in Hell forever, forever to be tormented.
Don't fool yourself, my friend.  Don't take foolish chances, and gamble  with your eternal destiny.  Any moment could be your last on earth, and then where will you find yourself,  in Heaven, or in Hell?  “It is appointed unto man once to die (young or old, rich or poor), and after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27.  Where will  you stand at the judgment?  If you were to die today do you have  the assurance of Heaven or  is the mouth of Hell gaping wide open , waiting to receive you into everlasting habitations and torment?  Death is not the end of your existence, my friend,  but commencement, as it were, when you are either promoted to Heaven, or consigned to Hell forever.  When God created you and me, he gave us a life that would go on forever.  You and I will spend eternity some place, either in Heaven or in Hell.
The bible says. “ It is appointed unto men once to die” (that is – our spirit and soul is to be separated from our physical body), “ and after that the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27.  How will you be judged when you find yourself before the judgment throne of God?  Jesus said: “At the end of the world, the angels shall come forth and  sever the wicked from among the just and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 13: 49-50.
.   How will you be judged, as among the wicked or among the righteous?
In the book of Revelation John tells us: “And I saw the dead, small and great stand before God; and the books were opened; and another book was opened which is the book of life; and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, every man according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and Hell delivered up the dead which were in them; and they were judged every man according to their works, and death and Hell were cast into the lake of fire.  This is the secomd death, and whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20: 12-15.
“The fearful and unbelieving and the abominable, and murderers and whore mongers, and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone which is the second death.,” Revelation 21: 8.
My friend, is your name written in the lamb's book of life?  Have your sins been forgiven? Have you believed since you heard the Word of God?  Have you asked God to show you his loving kindness and tender mercies and apply the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ to your account so that you might be  declared righteous in his sight?  As you read these words and hear his voice, the opportunity is still available to you, but consider the awesome alternative that lies before you if you refuse.
My friend, don't expect to party with your drinking “buddies” in Hell.  Hell fire always burns, but never consumes.  A split second after you leave this physical body, if  you find yourself in Hell, it will be a terrible unnecessary situation because God in his love and mercy has provided a way of escape from the horrors of Hell to enjoy the pardon of God forever.
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, I will give unto  him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.  He that overcometh shall inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. “Revelation 21: 6-7.
The good news is that God himself so loved you and me that he took upon himself  human flesh in the person of Jesus Christ and came to earth to rescue from Hell, and to save all who will believe and trust in him.
“God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3: 16.
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved and thy house.” Acts 16: 31.  Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.  “As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one.” Romans 3: 10.
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23.  “The wages of sin is death (separation from  God in Hell forever), but the gift of God is everlasting life (with God forever in Heaven) Through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6: 23.
“What must I do to be saved?”, the Philippian jailer asked.  “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and  thou shalt be saved and thy house.” Acts 16: 31 was the answer.
My friend, while there is still  time for you to avoid the horrors of Hell forever, won't you heed the warning?  Hell is no joke: it is a horrible certainty for you unless you believe God, ask for his mercy , and trust in his promises.
If you have read thus far in this message, if you have in your possession a copy of the Word of God, the Holy Bible, and if you have ever heard the preaching of the Word of God, perhaps the Holy Spirit is tugging at your heart, even perhaps
causing you to be quite uncomfortable and miserable, convicting you of the truth of what  you have heard  and read, and if that is so, then this is good evidence that God is drawing you to himself to be saved.  The bible says that no one can come to Christ except the Father draws him.  No one can earn salvation by  any amount of good works or good intentions or good
deeds, for salvation is   a gift from God.
“For by grace are ye saved, through faith  and  that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2: 8 ,9

My friend, God sends no one to Hell  willingly.  God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.  If you go to Hell  it will be because you have trampled  on the love of God and the prayers of Christian loved ones and friends, the shed blood of Jesus Christ, and  the working of the Holy Spirit.  Don't be a fool.  “The fool hath sai in his heart, there is no God.” Psalm 53:  1.
Believe the gospel that - “Christ Jesus  died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he rose again  the third day according to the scriptures.” 1 Corinthians 15: 3, 4.
“Wherefore he is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever  liveth to make intercession for  them.” Hebrews 7: 25.
He is able to save all who will come to him by faith, and admit their sins  and by faith ask for his forgiveness.
Will  you dear reader consider doing this if you have not already done so, before the door is eternally closed and it is everlastingly too late, and you  learn for sure that Hell is no joke because you find yourself there? When you have
received Christ into your heart, and have become a born again child of God, confess him with your mouth.  The bible says that “With the heart man believeth and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:10.;  Tell your friends, your wife, your  husband, your children, your parents and co-workers.  You ought to seek the fellowshipof other believers in a bible believing fundamental church where  the bible, and the bible alone is the sole authority for faith  and practice.  You ought also,  after you are saved,  follow the Lord in believer's baptism as a testimony of your  new life in Christ.

Read your bible and pray every day, and walk by faith in the spirit with the Lord

May the Lord lead you and bless you and save you from the horrors of Hell which otherwise you  will find is no joke.

Take Heed

Thought for Today - October 10, 2022
Take Heed!
By: Robert A Searles

Jesus said:  “Take heed that no man deceive you.” Matthew24: 4.  To take heed means to be careful, to be discerning, to analyze carefully what we hear from others, to see if what we are  hearing is indeed according to truth.  We hear many voices all the time.  There are many so called experts in every field of endeavor offering their seminars of advice, but we need to be very careful when we listen  to the advice of experts in the field of religion and theology lest we be led away from scriptural truth and be swayed by every word of false doctrines.  Search the scriptures daily to determine if what you  are hearing is indeed scriptural truth.

This also applies to  any other area of our lives.  There are many counselors in many different areas of life, but be careful of whom you take advice on any subject.

God's word tells us that: “Blessed is the man who walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful, nor standeth in the way of sinners, but his delight is in the law of the Lord, in his law doth he mediate day and night, he shall be like a tree planted by the river of waters, his leaf shall not wither and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” Psalm 1:
1
The word of God is a lamp unto our feet, able  to guide us, and direct us wherever we go and whatever we do;.  Christians have  a  God given light that others do not have.  Not that we  should boast, but that we should be wise as serpents and harmless as doves  and walk in  the light of knowledge that we have from God our Father.

“Let no man deceive you with vain words: For because of these things comneth the wrath of
God upon the children of disobedience.  Be not ye therefore partakers with them.  For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light. ( For the fruit of the spirit  is in all goodness and righteousness and truth:) proving what  is acceptable unto the Lord, and have no fellowship  with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.  For it is a shame even to  speak of those things which are done of them in secret.  But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, awake thou that sleepest and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise redeeming the time. Because the days are evil wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will  of the Lord is.” Ephesians 5: 6-17.

Reason for Rejoicing

Thought For Today - October 7,2022
Reason  for Rejoicing
By: Robert A. Searles

“I will greatly rejoice in  the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. For as the  earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that  are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all nations. “Isaiah 61: 10-11.

We have good reason to rejoice and to be glad in the Lord,. Even though we live in an environment that is evil and corrupted by sin and disobedience to God.  God has  provided for his  redeemed, born again children a robe of righteousness, and crowned them with precious jewels while we wait for the long dark winter of sin to be over, and for God's springtime to come.

We are reminded, when we see the signs of spring on earth; when we see the buds began to appear on the trees; when we see the lilies and flowers popping their heads through the soil, that God's righteousness and praise will spring forth in the earth when our Lord and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ returns, and God's righteousness shall prevail.

All of Grace

Thought For Today - October 5
All Of Grace
By Robert A.Searles

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works,  lest any man should boast.  For we are his workmanship, created  in  Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that  we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2: 8, 9, 10.

God saved us because he wanted to, not because had to.  He saved us because he loves us;  because he created us for himself unto good works.  He saved us because he is not  willing that any should perish.  Our salvation  is  by grace alone, through faith.  He imparted unto us the faith to believe the gospel and to call upon Christ to save us.

At one time we were without God in the world, having no hope; but while we were lost, while we  were yet sinners, Christ came to save us, as many as will  believe and receive him as lord and Savior.

“But now in Christ Jesus, ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.  For he is our peace, who hath made both one,  and hath broken down the middle wall of  partition between us; having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances: for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace: and that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby, and came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.  For through him we both have access by one spirit unto the Father.  Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets unto a holy temple in the Lord; in whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God through the spirit.” Ephesians 2: 13-22.

Both Jew and Gentile are invited by God the Father to partake of his grace, and receive Christ as Savior, and become part of his body, the church, and enjoy his  benevolence forever.

God's Promise of Salvation

Thought for Today - October 4
God's Promise of Salvation
By: Robert A. Searles

Our salvation is completely dependent on the grace of God alone.  There is absolutely nothing that we can do to save ourselves.  God has promised to save all who will  believe and call upon him.
"But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him."  Psalm 37: 39-40

"And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation." Isaiah 25: 9
His name is Jesus, The Christ, our only Savior.

"Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.   And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins" Matthew 1: 20,21 (KJV) Bible

While in Prison, Paul and Silias were asked by their jailor - "...........Sirs, what must I do to be saved ? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Acts 16: 30,31 (KJV) Bible

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" Ephesians 2: 8 (KJV) Bible

"Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them." Hebrews 7: 25 (KJV) Bible
This promise is for all who have heard the call of God.  If you have never asked God For forgiveness of sins through Christ, and believed and called upon him for your salvation, today is the accepted time.  Won't you call  unto him today before it is too late

Positive Thinking

Thought for Today - October 2
Positive Thinking
By: Robert A. Searles

Do you want to have a positive attitude and outlook on life?  Keep your mind constantly consciously fixed upon God.  “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26: 3.

All the day long, think upon God; think of how holy God is; think of how just God is; think of how merciful and forgiving God is; think always of the love of God, and how he  expressed that love by his sacrifice for us.  Think of how mighty and powerful God is.  Think of how wise God is, and how wealthy he is.  The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof.  Think of how healthy God is; think of him who is full of life.  He is the creator of all life.  Think of how eternal God is, he is the first and the last, the beginning and the end, the alpha and omega.  And then think this one solemn thought:  God wants us to become as he is.  He wants us to be conformed to the image of his son.  If we think in this  way we will be thinking positively even as God thinks.  Therefore, if you want to be positive in  thoughts and attitudes, think always on the lord.
