Standing on the Promises

 Thought for Today - February 28, 2023

Standing on the Promises

By: Robert A. Searles

If we are truly the born again servants of God, we are promised that no spiritual or carnal  weapon brought against us by all the principalities and  powers in high places, and all our enemies on earth shall prosper,  No tongue can bring judgment against us because we have the heritage of Christ which is his righteousness.  When we believe and wait and trust in the LORD our strength is renewed and we, mount up with wings as eagles, and we shall run and not be weary and shall walk and not faint.

"  No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD." Isaiah 54: 17

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

Blessed! - or Cursed!

 Thought for Today - February 27, 2023

Blessed! - or Cursed!

By: Robert A Searles

"Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited" The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" "As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool." O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters." Jeremiah 17

"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is, For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit."  Jeremiah 17

A Joy to Serve the Lord

 Thought  For Today - February  25, 2023

A Joy to Serve the Lord

By: Robert A Searles

According to the grace and abilities which he has given me , it is a joy and a privilege for me to serve the Lord.  To share and send forth his word to wheresoever he would have it to go and to whomsoever he would have it to reach.  The Lord has given to every born again believer and child of his, a special ability with which to have a ministry to serve him, whether it be that of sweeping the church floor, or preaching the gospel to the world.  It is the responsibility of each of us to discover the one or more gifts that the Lord has given to us and use it for his glory.

I believe that God has given me a passion for writing and sharing my thoughts on Facebook and other ways, not to condemn or judge, but to encourage in the faith.  I can say with Paul in a more humble way," I thank God for giving me a ministry."  and I shall sum it all up with Psalm 26:7, which is my purpose -" That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works."

"And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief." 1 Timothy 12-13

The Earth Belongs to God

 Thought for Today - February 24, 2023

The Earth Belongs To God

By: Robert A. Searles

All of us who tend to be proud and boastful of what we own, or think we own, or that which we have accomplished, need to remember, in reality we own nothing, God created the earth, and the entire universe and everything in it.  Everything that we have and enjoy, has by the grace of God,been  loaned to us for a short season, and then after a while we must leave it all and return to our creator the way we came - naked. Whether it be Life, health, family, friends, land, houses, education, finances, or other blessing which we are enjoying today, let us humbly praise and thank God for his grace for tomorrow it may all be required of us .  The only thing we can keep forever is that which we have inherited as joint heirs  with Christ. Praise God!

"The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.  For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.   Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.  He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

So Send I You

 Thought for Today - August 3, 2023

So Send I You!
By: Robert A. Searles

“Then said Jesus to them again, peace be unto you; as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.”John 20:21
Jesus gave his disciples the commission to continue his ministry on earth after he had ascended into heaven.., He gave them the Holy Spirit to help them. We who are the children of God, have been given the same commission from him. We are told to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. As God sent Jesus to reconcile the world to himself, so Jesus sends us into the world among sinners, to tell them of his love and redeeming power.
There is no purpose for living on earth other than for service to God. The unsaved person from the time he is old enough to think for himself is constantly searching for something that will fulfill his purpose in life. It is called the pursuit of happiness. It is the common thought that happiness is something which we can run after, and some day catch, and when it has been caught, hang onto it and never let it go. No wonder there are so many frustrated people in the world. They go from one thing to another, without ever finding any real satisfaction in life, and no purpose for living. Education won't satisfy, houses and property and wealth won't satisfy, even good health won't satisfy, and the reason being, that we were designed to be satisfied only from within when we have found the perfect will of God and are doing it.The most miserable people of all are those who have become the sons of God, if they have never yielded themselves to serve God and win souls to Christ. The greatest joy and satisfaction that any of us can ever experience is to know that we are doing the very thing that we were sent to do after we were saved, that is, to magnify and exalt the name of the Lord Jesus Christ; to win souls; and to continue the ministry of love and compassion, and reconciliation to God through Christ, and help those in need.
When a person has no purpose in life other than to satisfy his own flesh, then life itself becomes nothing but a continual state of boredom and depression, and can become a living hell. We have been sent by Jesus to do a job, to work in his vineyard, to bring in the harvest. There is much joy in laboring for the Lord. We are told that: “they that sow in tears, shall doubtless come again rejoicing, bringing their sheaves with them.”
I want to be one of the sent ones. I don't want to be just sitting around feeling miserable because I have reached a certain age, and feeling sorry for myself that all my yesterdays could not continue until today. I pray that the Lord will fill me to overflowing with the Holy Spirit and give me a ministry and service for him that will keep me busy magnifying and exalting his name forever. I want to keep my eyes on the future, not on the past. That which is ahead is greater and more exciting than anything we have ever known in the past. I want to keep pressing forward to the prize of the high calling of God, as Paul said, and to keep my eyes fixed firmly on Jesus. I want to seek first the kingdom of God, and accept with thanksgiving any blessing that God wants to shower upon me.

 Thought for Today - July 6, 2023

Listen Up America! - "Thus Saith the LORD"
 By: Robert A. Searles

As these words were spoken by God through the prophet Isaiah to the nation of Israel, so God is speaking to our beloved nation today as a solemn warning of judgement, and a promise of salvation. we would do well to take heed to - "Thus saith the LORD."

"Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;   Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.  Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.  If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:   But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it."  Isaiah 1: 16-20

Bring Your Burdens to the Lord!

 Thought for Today - February 20, 2023

By: Robert A Searles

Bring Your Burdens To The Lord

Jesus extended an invitation to all who are weary and heavy laden to come unto him, and he would give them rest. He came unto the world to be our burden bearer and our sin bearer.

"Surely he hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken,
smitten of God and afflicted." Isaiah 53: 4

"That it might be fulfilled which was spoken of
Esaias the prophet, saying, himself took our infirmities, and bare our sickness." Matthew 8: 17

What burdens lay heavy on our souls today? Is it the burden of none confessed, none forgiven sin? Is it the burden of doubts and fears, or the burden of sickness and immanent death? Do we grieve
today over the loss of family, friends, or loved ones? Are we perplexed, not knowing where to turn or what road to take to solve our problems? Are we overly concerned about how we will meet the challenges of the future?

Jesus stands ready to make an exchanges of burdens. If we are willing to lay all our cares and
burdens upon him, he will bear them for us, but we in exchanges must be willing to put his yoke
upon our shoulders and be busy for him. When we are yoked together with him,he is bearing the
heavier part of the load and our burdens become lighter. We are told to take our burdens to the
Lord and leave them there. Burdens are lifted at Calvary.

Jesus said: "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take
my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto
your souls. For my yoke is easy, and , my burden light."Matthew 11: 28-30

No Condemnation

 Thought for Today - February 17, 2023

 No Condemnation!

By: Robert A. Searles

The bible tells us that there are  at least two real realms of existence.  The natural realm - that of the physical world in which we have our being here on earth - material substance, our body, and things which can be seen, touched,  smelled , felt  and  of which we can spend our entire lives trying to satisfy , fulfill and enjoy, but only for a brief season, because every thing that is material is corruptible and will eventually decay and be gone.

The bible also tells us that the world of the spirit - things which truly exists but are invisible and cannot be seen by us are more real than the material universe which can be seen and observed. God is spirit and has eternal existence and dwells in the spirit world called heaven along with other principalities and powers which wage war with God and his redeemed saints.  Heaven is God's headquarters from where he commanded everything in the natural realm to come into existence.  Everything, including human life , has it's beginning in the spirit-in the mind of God.

One day God so loved his highest natural creation, mankind, that he stepped out of the spirit world and entered the natural in the person of Jesus Christ to offer himself as the perfect lamb of God to forgive our sins and give to us an eternal home in the spirit world in his presence forever.

When we receive Christ as our Lord and Savior, he sends his spirit to live within us, and take over the Lordship over our lives, which means that our whole lifestyle is changed to reflect his glory and bring us into obedience to his will.  Sometimes the new life we have received from Christ does not seem to be logical to all that is natural , and our carnal minds rebel and there is turmoil and rebellion in our soul.

We sincerely want to live in the spirit, but we also want to live in the natural and please the flesh., what can we do?  So we cry out to God for help.

"O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?"   Romans 7: 24
"For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit" Romans 8: 5.
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of  sin.Romans 7: 25
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Romans 8: 1

Glory in the Lord

  Thought for Today - February 15, 2023

Glory in the LORD

By: Robert A. Searles

If any of us think that we have any reason to be boastful or proud , and have a tendency to glorify ourselves, we all need to remind ourselves, that certainly all glorying belongs to God.  We brought nothing into this world, and it is certain that we shall take nothing with us when we leave it.
"But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD."  Jeremiah  9: 24

DailyLife of a Christian

Thought For Today - February 13, 2023

Daily Life of A Christian

By: Robert A. Searles
"There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:" John 3:1
"The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him." John 3:2

As Jesus explained to Nicodemus , if one is to become a Christian, and become a child of God and inherit and see the kingdom of God, he must be "born again" . That is - :  As he was born naturally in the flesh and came alive and became the child of his natural parents, he must  also experience  being born, or the coming alive the second time in the spirit realm to become a child of God.

"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."1 Corinthians 2: 14

"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:3
"Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? " John 3"4"   Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."John 3:4-6   Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old?

Jesus answered, Verily, verily  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

"Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;" Ephesians 5.1

Ephesians 2:10 KJV
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."  1 John 1:7

A Call To Worship

 Thought for Today - February 11, 2023

A Call to Worship

By: Robert A. Searles
"O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker." Psalm 95: 6

When should we worship God?  God is worthy of our constant and continual worship. We need to always be mindful  and aware of our source of existence., and his extended love for us in his plan for our salvation. by his mercy and grace. When we awake the first thing each new day, our thoughts and desires ought to immediately  be centered on God our creator.  We ought to remember and rehearse in our mind all the blessing  and help we have received from him, yesterday, and all the days before, that he has allowed us to live thus far, and offer our praise and thanksgiving, and look forward to the day before us

What is worship? I believe that the act of worship  is the placing of an object of our worship in the highest place and pinnacle of our thoughts and imagination, and a person or thing that we think that we cannot do without.

We ought to approach God our FATHER in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ ,and bring to  him an   acceptable offering of praise, and offer ourselves to him in our physical body here on earth to serve him and bring glory to his name.
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." Romans 12: 1
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. " Romans 12: 2
"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him." John 1: 23

" God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in the Spirit
"Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
"Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture."
"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name."  "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise  For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations."Psalm 100: 1-5

Your Church - Dead ? or Alive?

Thought for Today - July 8, 2023

Your Church - Dead? or Alive?

By: Robert A. Searles

What is it like to attend the church we visit and support each Week?

Will we see the pastor - preacher  -truly the" incarnation" so to speak  of the Holy Spirit , standing in the pulpit preaching the truth of the word of God, or will the one filling that position be just a dead or dying piece of clay with so many seminary degrees?

In any, and every congregation, there are bound to be some who  are living in sin with little or no regard for their future destination, they may have heard about Christ - Heaven - and Hell, but think it only to be a child's  story.

How long has it been since you have heard a convicting message on sin, where the preacher names sins and calls them by name. --Adultery,-  fonacation - abortion, -  men laying with men - women with women- murderers - thieves  - liars and all those  described in Romans 1. and elsewhere through the bible.

Sinners must be told and made to understand that for them to leave this world being still in their sins without receiving the love and forgiveness which Christ offers will mean an eternal torment  in  the fires of hell. even as Jesus described it.  Have no doubt about it, Jesus preached and warned of the terrors of hell fire awaiting those who will not believe, repent and turn to him for salvation. However, there is no need for anyone to be lost forever and go to hell. Jesus came to seek and to save; to forgive; to give abundant life here on earth, but more importantly a home in heaven with him forever.

This message needs to be preached  from the pulpits of America with such power and conviction from the Holy Spirit that those who are lost have such a fear of rejecting the offer of Christ that they grip the back of the pew in front of them and feel the fires of hell burning  around them ,and that they  run down the aisles  of our churches for salvation as  they did when Johnathan Edwards preached his sermon "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God"

Sad to say, many so called messengers of the word of God have watered  down their messages to be just that of fellowship, love, prosperity, miracles, and in many cases no extended invitation is given for sinners to come to the altar to receive Christ and be forgiven.  Why is this so? It may be that the messenger himself is not saved and empowered and anointed by the Holy Spirit, or he may be afraid  of personal persecution, or of losing support.
"If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:" 2 Timothy2: 12

"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction."2 Peter 2:1

The Heart is Deceitful

 Thought for Today - February 8, 2023

The Heart is Deceitful

By: Robert A. Searles

Could it be that our individual sin, and the sins of our country and the  whole world  are engraved in stone with the pen of iron and the point of a diamond as  God  said it was with Judah?

"The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars;   As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool."
"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"

" I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings."
"Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD."
"For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited."

" Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is."

" For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit."
"Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise." Jeremiah 17:1- 14

God's Plan For a Healthy Marriage

By: Robert A. Searkes

Girls and young women,  are you contemplating marriage  in the foreseeable future? Does the gentleman who is presenting himself as a candidate and proposing to be your partner and husband for life meet all the requirements of your heavenly father?  Does he love the LORD our God with all his heart, soul, and mind and have a genuine desire to serve him and others, and does he love his neighbor as himself ? If he cannot meet these requirements, he cannot truly say and promise that he loves you and will care for uou untli death do you part.  Please be careful, he may just have the flesh on his mind.

Gentlemen, and young men, have you found that "jewel without price" so you think, and want more than anything for her to accept your proposal to join herself to you forever, does she meet the requirements of the virtious woman as described in Proverbs 31: 10 ?

Thus saith the LORD:

"Thou shalt not commit adultery." Exodus 20: 14
"Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery." Luke 16: 18
"And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him." Genesis 2:18
"Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." Genesis  2: 24
"Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them." Colosians 3: 19
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord."  Colossians 3: 18
"For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body." Ephesians 5: 23
And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: 1 Corinthians 7: 10
"But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife." 1 Cointhians 7: 11
"Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee." Genesis 3: 16 "Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. " Ephesians 5: 33

Death Is Not the End!

 Thought for Today - February 3, 2023

Death is Not the End !

By: Robert A. Searles

"No human experience is more painful than losing someone you loved. Whether the cause was an accident or a terminal illness, death is seen as a final farewell which family and friends dread the most. In fact, even among the elderly, talking about death seems a taboo topic that no one dares to speak of. "

"However, if we read the Bible, death is not the end, but simply a door leading to the next. When one has trusted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior, death may be painful, but it is a warm welcome into God’s family in heaven. As far as God and the Bible are concerned, it is not a final farewell, but a temporary separation because one day, all the saints will meet once again and be together forever."  -

Quote  from " Bible Portal"

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."  Rev 21: 4
"Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5: 4

"The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit." Psalm 34: 18

"And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you." John 16: 22

"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." Isaiah 41: 10

"He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds."  Psalm 147: 3

"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints." Psalm 116: 15
