Righteous? - or – Wicked?

 Thought for Today - September 30, 2024

Righteous? - or – Wicked?

By: Robert A Searles

“Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him. As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.” Isaiah 3: 10-12

Is this not true today in the world, and in our country, and in our homes, that children are our oppressors, and that women have the rule over us?

This was never intended by God to be so. God's plan for a happy and harmonious life is for children to be in subjection to their parents, and to be brought up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and for wives and unmarried daughters to lovingly follow the leadership of godly husbands or fathers.

The situation in many of our homes, and in our country today is, I believe, partially the judgment of God on those who have wickedly fallen away from him. Verse 16 to the conclusion of Isaiah chapter 3 describes the revealing haughty attire, and attitude of many women in the world at the time it was written, but it is also descriptive of many today.

Instead of being loving wives, mothers, and sweethearts, they are in many cases, scheming, arrogant, and boldly aggressive.

“Moreover the Lord saith, because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, Walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will discover their secret parts. In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon, the chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers, the bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings, the rings and the nose jewels, the changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins, the glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vales, and it shall come to psss, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; instead of a girdle, a rent; and instead of well set hair, baldness, and instead of a stomacher, a girdling of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty. Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war, and her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.” Isaiah 3: 16-26.

Could this be a warning for us today as well as it was in Isaiah's day?

Cause for Rejoicing

 Thought For Today - September 29, 2024
Cause for Rejoicing
By: Robert A. Searles

"I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all nations.: Isaiah 61:10-11

We have good reason to rejoice and to be glad in the Lord. even though we live in an environment that is evil and corrupted by sin and disobedience to God. God has provided for his redeemed, born again children a robe of righteousness, and crowned them with precious jewels while we wait for the long dark winter of sin to be over, and for God's springtime to come. We are reminded, when we see the signs of spring on earth; when we see the buds begin to appear on the trees; when we see the lilies and flowers popping their heads through the soil, that God's righteousness and praise will spring forth in the earth when our Lord and savior, the Lord Jesus Christ returns, and God's righteous shall prevail.

Teach The Children !

   Thought for Today -  September 28, 2024

 Teach The Children !

 By: Robert A. Searles

Those of us who are parents, grandparents, senior citizens, the old and the gray headed, ought to be speaking from experience, and, constantly showing forth to this present generation, and every one that is to come, the great power and strength, and righteousness of our Holy God. We ought to show our young people what it means to trust in God who is REAL and not just a fantasy, who cares, and who is willing and able to meet all our needs, both physical and spiritual. We know not the number of our days; therefore, every day ought to be precious to us, and we ought to utilize it wisely to honor God, and with great joy and gladness, magnify God before this younger generation so that they may seek and long after God.

It seems that Satan is out to capture the minds, the souls, and lives of our children through his many diabolical devices. Satan is not as he is pictured in medieval literature as a red suited character with horns and pitch fork, whose habitation is hell. No! The bible describes him as an angel of light who goes about seeking whom he may devour. He uses many seemingly innocent schemes and devices to capture his prey. He sometimes uses people who know not the true God of eternal life and salvation to promote his programs.

The word of God, the Holy Bible warns us not to have any fellowship with the works of darkness: nor to seek after the occult, nor to seek after familiar spirits. It tells us to “sanctify the Lord of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and dread.” Isaiah 8: 13.

“And when they shall say unto you, seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God; for the living to the dead?” Isaiah 8: 19.

“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consultant with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee.” Deuteronomy 18: 10-12.

There are many other scripture verses which warn of the same thing, but there is not room enough here to list them. In spite of all these warnings from God, it is sad to observe that even Christian parents are allowing their children to pursue these demons of darkness in the literature and films they are allowed to read and watch. Why should we encourage or allow our children and grandchildren to worship the so called heroes of darkness – witches, wizards, familiar spirits, monsters etc., when we ought to be introducing them to wholesome, uplifting literature and films which honor and glorify God?

The Holy Bible is full of great adventure stories for young children, adolescents, and even adults - Stories of Moses, Joshua, the children of Israel in the wilderness, the story of Daniel, of Ruth, stories and predictions of the prophets, and stories of great kings and kingdoms, and best of all, the stories of Jesus and his great plan of redemption and salvation.

I have to wonder how many children and young peo0ple today in our society, even among so called Christian families, can relate to us these great adventures, and how they may apply them to our everyday living. I also sadly wonder how many parents, or grandparents, including Christians, would “camp out” overnight at a bookstore or public library, to hear the stories of these great bible heroes, as some do when the latest occult novel is being released. Our world is going to be governed by the upcoming generation and the generations following them. Who will be in control, Satan or God? We all know the final answer, the ultimate victory is God's, but oh! What a price we will pay in the meantime if we do not teach our children right things.

“My mouth shall show forth thy righteousness, and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the number thereof. I will go in the strength of the Lord God. I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only, O God, thou hast brought me from my youth; and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous strength unto this generation, and thy power to everyone that is to come.” Psalm 71: 15-18.

What is most important to you, mom, dad, grammar, grandpa? How do you teach your children?

The Godly Man Ceaseth !

Thought For Today - September 27, 2024
The Godly Man Ceaseth !

By: Robert A. Searles

“Help, Lord; for the godly man ceaseth: for the faithful fail from among the children of men. They speak vanity every one with his neighbor: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak. The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things; who have said, with our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is Lord over us? For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord, I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them. O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever. The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted." Psalm 12

This psalm could very well describe the era and the times in which we live. It is difficult, at times, to find anyone out in the world who fears God, and lives according to God's laws; but we can be assured that God knows those who are his own, be they ever so few, and he has promised to help and give victory to all who will honor him with their trust and devotion. God's word is true, and his promises sure to all those who will believe.

Sometimes when we have problems and trials, it seems that either God has forgotten us and abandoned us forever, or that he doesn't even exist. Satan, our enemy would like to have us believe this lie; but we know that God is true and eventually we shall rejoice in our salvation and sing unto the Lord because he hath dealt bountifully with us.

Roommate

  Thought For Today - September 26, 2024
 Roommate
By: Robert A. Searles

Do we who claim to be "born again" Christians commune and visit with our spiritual roommate, the Holy Spirit, throughout the day, or do we just accept the fact that he is present with us and just ignore him? He wants to be a vital part of our life; he wants to be our counselor and guide. The bible tells us that when we are saved, he moves into our body which is his holy temple, and bears witness with our spirit, (that is- he makes himself and the things of God known to us in a real way).

How fortunate we are as Christians that wherever we are, and wherever we go, our roommate goes with us to be our companion; to keep us sealed unto salvation; to be our physician to keep us healthy and well; to be our lawyer; to keep us out of trouble with God the Father; to be our teacher and to show us the things of God our father and Christ our Savior. He is our Lord's promise to us after his resurrection that when he ascended into heaven, he would send us another comforter who would abide with us forever..

Let us not neglect him, but include him in all our conversation and daily activities.

Our Greatest Asset

Thought for Today - September 25, 2024
Our Greatest Asset

  By Robert A. Searles

If you were asked what you considered to be your most valuable asset, no doubt you would look about you and think for a moment, then you would probably list your property, savings, home, health and family.  These are indeed, great assets to everyone, but wait, there  is something that made all these things possible, that something is  freedom – freedom to work, to accumulate savings; to build your home, and live happily with your family.  Without this freedom we would be denied the right to speak or write our thoughts and express our opinions on important issues of the day     Our freedom which was fought for by the early American colonist, and which men have fought and died to preserve is one of our most cherished heritages.  It is something which we must never  lose sight of, for if we do, then the nation  is doomed to totalitarianism like so many countries  of Europe.
We must grasp this freedom and keep hold of it like a mother might grasp a small infant to keep it from falling from her arms     When we are going about our  daily routine of living, we sometimes take freedom for granted and fail to see any possibility of losing it,; but remember, it could be suddenly taken from us as easily as a piece of candy could be taken from a small child; therefore, we must all join hands and work hard to preserve that freedom.  We must guard it with our lives, and if necessary , fight for  it.     How can we ever hope to preserve our freedom when there are people that hate their neighbors because they have a different colored skin or a different accent in their voice from theirs, or perhaps they may go to a different church?
When the colonist fought for freedom, they not only considered it a thing for men of the same color skin and nationality, but for all men, regardless of their  race, creed, or color.  If we foster prejudice and racial discrimination, then we have no freedom.  If we refuse to have anything to do with a person just because he happens to be different from us, we are doing the same thing that the Nazis or the so called “master race” did.  When we do this, we are gradually building up hatred in our own country.  In a country where there is hatred there can be no freedom, and without freedom we cannot expect peace and the  many comforts which we take for granted every day; therefore, we must get rid of intolerance and racial discrimination.  Not until we do this can we ever hope for world peace and the end of dictators.
Remember that our great country was discovered by foreigners and built by foreigners.  If we eliminate men and women of different races, colors, and religions from our country, then we shall  have little left.
If we want peace we must strive to keep our freedom.  The first step in keeping our freedom is to recognize the author of all freedom, he who created all men to be equal and to have equal rights, and honor him and give  him thanks, he who is the great lawgiver of the universe. Without  law  there can be no real freedom, yet there are those who would bar from public view, those fundamental laws upon which our common laws are founded, namely the ten commandments handed down by almighty God to Moses.
If there be no God whose commandments are to be respected and obeyed, why are the so called atheist who want to keep the laws of God out of public view, so afraid  to have them seen?   It seems to  be quite ridiculous to be afraid of something non existent.  Prayer and bible reading is being forbidden in our schools and public places, and we expect to preserve our freedom?  No! My friends, whether we like it or not, the infallible word of God tells us that:  “The wicked shall be  turned into hell and all nation that forget God.”  Psalm 9: 17
A much quoted scripture which is very true says:  “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves,  and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will  heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7: 14.
Every day it seems that we are losing more and more of our freedoms, We are being told what we can and cannot do in the very privacy of our own homes.  Even our foods are being laid out for us and we are being told what we should or should not eat.  A call goes out to the children of God to come out of your closets and be identified as lovers of God, and lovers of freedom for all men.  Humble yourselves and pray and seek the face of God and abide by his laws.
If we want peace and freedom we must strive to keep freedom, and in order to  keep freedom we must join hands with our neighbors whether they be  black , white, yellow or red, and realize the fact that we are one nation under God, and under God's laws, and that a separated people are doomed.

Gratitude!

Thought For Today - September 24, 2024
Gratitude!

By: Robert A. Searles

Gratitude! Are we truly grateful for all that the Lord has done for us? We ought to truly love him because he first loved us, and gave himself for us. Where would we be right now if the Lord Jesus Christ had not left heaven and come to this earth to lay down his life for us, and then to take it up again to be our intercessor before God the father?

"And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain, ye are yet in your sins. Then they who are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead and become the first fruits of them that slept." 1Con 15: 17-20.

Stop and think for a moment. Without Christ, what would you have? What would you have to look forward to for the future? Is there a better hope for us anywhere in the universe than what God has to offer us? He offers us forgiveness and freedom from guilt, love, joy, peace, clean living; well kept bodies; sound minds; as well as a supernatural knowledge that God give us of spiritual things once we have been indwelt by the Holy Spirit. He gives the power to live victoriously, and overcome all adverse circumstances. He supplies the love we have and share with one another, because the Holy Spirit draws us and attracts us to one another. Can you find some better hope to offer than that which we have in Christ?

Without Christ we would be nothing more than glorified animals, biting and devouring one another, and all that we would have to look forward to would be death. This is the condition of all the unsaved, and it was our condition before we were saved.

As the apostle Paul said - " if Christ be not risen from the dead then we are of all men most miserable," because there is simply no other plan of salvation in the universe. But because Christ is risen, and because we have been forgiven and born again and redeemed, and because we do have abundant and everlasting life right here and now, and because we do have the only plan of salvation available to mankind, we ought to have such love and gratitude for our risen Savior that we would want to give him nothing but the very best. We love him because he first loved us and gave himself for us.

Read Luke 7: 37-50. "And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus was eating in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, and stood at his feet behind him, weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hair of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment."

This woman was so grateful for what Jesus had done for her that she brought to him the very best she could find to offer him. Not only did she give him the very best she had, but she stood at his feet behind him weeping. How long has it been since you talked with the Lord ? How long has it been since you have felt such a deep gratitude in your heart for what Christ has done for you that it brought tears to your eyes, and gave you the desire in you heart to fall down at the feet of Jesus and worship him as this woman did? Washing his feet with tears, and drying them with her hair is symbolic of true worship.

Are we so grateful for our salvation that we worship him in this manner? Are we willing to give to the one who gave his all to us ,the very best of everything that we have?
What is the very best we can offer him? He wants our total life and commitment. When he has our total life and commitment, he has our life, our love, our time, our talents, and all our ambitions.
If we are truly grateful and show gratitude, we will open our mouths and speak for him, and about him, and our lives will be consistent with what we say.

Todays'verse - September 23. 2024

 Todays'verse - September 23. 2024

“God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.”2 Samuel 22:33

" It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect." Psalms 18:32)

"The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed." Psalms 28:7

30For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall. 31As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him. 32For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God? 33God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect. 34He maketh my feet like hinds' feet: and setteth me upon my high places. 35He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms. 36Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.

What is Your Compass?

Thought For Today – September 23, 2024
What is Your Compass?
By: Robert A. Searles
We are told by men of experience in seamanship and navigation of the importance of a compass on a dark night or in a dense fog on the high seas.

When upon the ocean billows a ship is floundering in a storm, and the fog is so thick that you cannot hardly see a hand before you, sometimes you get to wonder whether or not you can or should trust your compass.  It seems at times that the needle is pointing in the wrong direction from what you think to be right, but the wise seaman will have first checked his compass before he launches out into the unknown.

When he is far from home and from land, if he is wise, he will follow the direction that the compass indicates as its' faithful needle points to the true north reference point.

My dear friend whoever you may be, we are on a broad uncharted ocean of life, lost and not having any sense of direction or knowledge of how to find our desired haven until we accept the
Word of God, which has been tried and found to be true. as our compass.

Simply by taking the teaching of the Word of God and obeying its' laws and principles by faith, just because God said it, we, must believe it and follow it to guide us safely home.  Our compass tells us that the way home to heaven is by the way of the cross.  There is no other way.  Broad is the way that leads to destruction, but narrow is the way that leadeth unto life eternal.

“Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by him.”

Weary sailor are you lost in the fog, unhappy, depressed, discouraged, fearfully tossed on the sea of life, desiring eternal everlasting life, and seeking heaven, but not not knowing  where to find it?  You have at your disposal a compass which has been tried and is true, the  Holy Bible, the divinely inspired Word of God.  It points to the true reference point for all of life, the Lord Jesus Christ.  It tells us how we are sinners from birth and without hope in the world,  and that we all have sinned against God and are condemned to die;  but it also tells us of how Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners.

He died for our sins, and was buried and rose again the third day, all according to the scriptures, so that we might by faith receive him as  our savior and allow him  to lead us safely home.

Today's Verse - September 22, 2024

“Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:”Ephesians 4: 26

" Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers"Romans 12: 19-29

Judgment Or Mercy, Which Will It Be?

Are you one among those who advocate the removal of the ten commandments from public view, or one who would ban prayer during our public events and educational systems?  Are you one of those who denies the existence of almighty God, and consequently are lost, and without hope, ether in this world or the next?

If you are a member of this group,  I, as a servant of Almighty God, am pressed to warn you of the consequences of your denial of one who loves you with an everlasting love, and desires your eternal salvation and future welfare.

I know that the Lord God  Jehovah – the Lord Jesus Christ exists and lives today because of all that he has bestowed upon me and my family in love, mercy, and salvation.  God is merciful, and extends his love and mercy to all who will respond and receive him; however, God is also a righteous judge, and will bring final judgment  upon all those who reject and deny him.

As God warned his people Israel, through the prophet Isaiah many centuries ago, about that which would become of them if they continued in their sinful ways,   I must warn you today that God will certainly bring righteous judgment on all those who spurn his words of warning and reject his offer of salvation through Jesus Christ.  Listen to that which he said to Israel, and that which he is saying to all of us today.

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!  Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!  Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!  Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust! Because they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the holy one of Israel.  Therefore is the anger of the Lord kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand  against them and hath smitten them; and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets, for all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.” Isaiah 5: 20-25.

If this should be all that you have to look forward to because of your unbelief, why not recognize God's offer of love and mercy before it is too late, and receive Christ as your savior today.  He will not turn you away if you sincerely repent and receive him by faith.  May God be gracious unto you!

Because He Loves Us!

Because He Loves Us!

By: Robert A. Searles

Because Christ loves us and gives himself for us, let us show our gratitude, and by his grace and with his help, follow his example as hereto set before us:

"Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:  Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead. For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.  Use hospitality one to another without grudging.  As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.  If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."

Suffering as a Christian

" Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:  But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.  If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.  But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.  Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?  And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?  Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator." 1 Peter 4

Walking with God

Thought For Today - September 20, 2024

 Walking with God

By: Robert A. Searles

Fellow Christians, let us examine ourselves, are we walking each day with God? Is he our constant companion wherever we go, and whatever we do? Do we go anywhere, or do anything that we could not go or do in the companionship of God? Are we really walking with God, or is he just tagging along behind because we have put ourselves, and other things ahead of him? He has promised never to leave us, nor forsake us; but we are guilty of ignoring his presence with us ,because sometimes we want to indulge ourselve s - we want to go places, and do things, and be involved in things that we know God will not be a part of because he is Holy and righteous. "Enoch walked with God for three hundred years and begat sons and daughters, and all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty five years; and Enoch walked with God and he was not for God took him." According to Genesis 5: 22,23,24. Three hundred years is a long time to walk with God, but God and Enoch must have had a glorious time together, because their relationship was so intimate that Enoch was the first person to be raptured. One day God and Enoch were so involved in each other's company, that suddenly Enoch was not, for God took him. God gives special favors and privileges and honors to those who will choose to walk with him, to deny self, and to forsake places, and things, and companions that are not pleasing to God. "Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Noah was a just man and perfect in all his generations, and Noah walked with God." Gen 6: 8, 9. Noah was given the honor of preserving life on planet earth during the flood. To walk with God, we must agree with God in all points. "Can two walk together except they be agreed?" He that would walk with God must believe and agree that he is, and that he is a rewarder of all those who diligently seek him. Without faith it is impossible to please God. To walk with God, we must agree with God when he says: "there is none righteous, no, not one." Rom 3: 10. And,” All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Rom 3: 23. And,” The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Rom 6: 23. To walk with God we must agree with God that these words apply to us, and declare with Paul, that we are chief among sinners, but the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3: 16. To walk with God, we must agree with God that our standing with him does not come as a result of our good works, or our own righteousness, but - "By grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, not of works lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2: 8,9. God made people in his own image to walk with him. This is our calling as the ultimate creation of God. "Whosoever will may come." Jesus said. "All who come to me I will in no wise cast out. "He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good: and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God." Micah 6:8. "For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro through out the whole earth to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him." 2 Chron 16: 9. "He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing." Job 28:10. "The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven; his eyes behold, his eyelids try the children of men." Psalm 11:4. "Behold. the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine." Psalm 33: 18. "The eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil." 1 Peter 3: 12. Beware, we are under constant surveillance. We are constantly being watched. Shakespeare said: "All the world is a stage and men and women merely players." What he should have said is that men and women are like microbes under God's microscope, although God does not need a microscope to see all the hidden things of men's heart, his eyes are sufficient. We are being watched by the Lord ,,and all the host of heaven, to see what our choices will be in any given situation. the Lord's eyes are searching for the person who will choose to walk humbly with him and honor him. God does not overlook anything that he finds to be precious in his sight. God is ready and pleased to reward righteousness and faithfulness when he finds it. My fellow Christian, if you have been saved by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, won't you come out of hiding, as it were, and make yourself known to the world as a Christian, hating sin as God hates sin, but loving the sinner as God loves sinners. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, and glorify God. Fellow Christian, God gives you a free will to choose good or evil, life or death. This old world in which we live is on its' last legs. Sin and corruption and wickedness prevail everywhere, and even our own beloved country is ripe for the judgment of God. We, who are called the children of God, must choose to walk with God moment by moment, and day by day, and put on the uniform of the redeemed child of God. As a good soldier of Jesus Christ, we must not become so entangled with the things of this life that we would be handicapped in the army of the Lord. If you have tasted and seen that the Lord is good and merciful, and that he has raised you up out of the miry pit, how can you not with gratitude, present yourselves a living sacrifice to God which is your reasonable service, that you might walk with him, and that he might cleanse you and fill you with his spirit, and completely take over your entire being, so that you might be an instrument in his hand ;so that he might work a good work in you and through you as he did with Enoch and Noah, and all the other saints down through the ages who chose to walk with God. The bible teaches us that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming again, and when he comes, he will have with him crowns and rewards for those who were willing to choose to obey him, to hear his call, and go forth to battle for his glory. Fellow Christian, right now as you read this message, you are of necessity making a choice. What will it be? Telehelp Publication's Christian Literature Ministry Psalm 26:7 Can't get out to church? ? Above Every Name

 \

Thought for Today - September  19, 2024
Above Every Name

By: Robert A. Searles

Who is the person that is most talked about in the world today?  Everywhere you go, you cannot escape it, where ever you go today you will hear everyone from all walks of life talking about this person, yet they speak of him in blasphemous, and dishonoring terms, and use his name in vain, and drag his name through the mud, and trample his love gift under foot.  This person is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yet, we Christians, who claim to be the born again, the  re-created children of God, shy away from talking directly about the Lord Jesus Christ.  In our daily conversation with other Christians, and the outside world, how often are we actually talking about the Lord Jesus Christ, and sharing with our friends how wonderful he is?  We talk about our church, and our pastors.  We talk about our Sunday school class.  We talk about all kinds of activities, and programs and service, but it seems to me that the person of the Lord Jesus Christ himself is terribly neglected.
Jesus never intended for us to separate the sacred from the secular.  He wants to be involved in everything we do.  Sometimes we tend to put the Lord Jesus Christ in a glass case and put him on the shelf and talk about things that pertain to him, but this is not his proper place.  He does not want to be an object of conversation only, he wants to be involved in it.
When we are sitting in our living rooms the name of the Lord Jesus Christ should be as common in our conversation as anyone else there.  He wants to be part of our family group,  He wants to be our guest for dinner every day.   Oh! How we ought to really love the Lord Jesus Christ after all he has done for us!  We ought to praise his name and exalt him in all our doings.
Even when we are eating an apple we can love Jesus because he made all things and sustains all things and freely gives us all things to enjoy.
So often the church, the activities, and the service programs in which we are involved take the place of our actual, personal relationship with the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.  All these programs are good and should not be neglected, but these should come about and be  the result of our deep love and gratitude, and personal relationship with the Lord, not as a substitute for it.    What a wonderful person the Lord Jesus Christ is! How he loves us and how we ought to love him in return!  “For God so loved the world that he gave  his only begotten son that whosoever  believeth on him should not perish but have everlalsting life.” John 3: 16.
God did not send the church to die for us. He did not send angels, he did not send pastors, he did not send activities and he did not ordain services to be the propitiation for our sins.  No, he sent the person of the Lord Jesus Christ to die for us and to be raised again for our justification.  He alone is worthy of our praise and worship.  He alone is the object of our love.  He ought to be the center of our life and conversation.
Don't  just say – I am happy, but rather say  - The Lord Jesus Christ  makes me happy.”  Don't just say: “this is a good day”, but rather say:  “The Lord has given us another beautiful day”.  Don't say: “I have a new dress, or a new car, or a beautiful house, or things”, but rather  say: “The Lord has showered me with all these blessings to enjoy.” Don't avoid calling him by name by just saying in a vague way, “Lord, “ “The Lord, “ or “God,” or “the man upstairs,”or “the creator”, or “the divinity”.  These are all proper names for him to be sure, but he wants to be known in a familiar way and known and proclaimed as the Lord Jesus Christ whom we know and love as our own personal Savior.
We sing, O, how I love Jesus, but many times he is grossly neglected and ignored from our conversation and activities, and from actual involvement in our lives.
None can proclaim, with honesty, The Lord Jesus Christ as his own personal Savior and Lord, and acquaintance, and object of love unless he has been born again.  Jesus said: “except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3: 3.  “Not everyone that  saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7: 21.
And what is the will of our Father?  It is to love the Lord Jesus Christ with all our heart, all our
mind, and all our soul.  No man can  call Jesus Lord except he be led  and taught of the Holy Spirit.
