Body of Christ

 Thought for Today - January 18, 2023

The Body of Christ

By: Robert A.Searles

Who are we if we indeed are  truly born again Christians?
"Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular." 1 Corinthians 12:27

Just as our physical bodies are composed of many unique  parts or organs, and each part having its' own particular purpose or function within the body , so it is with the spiritual body of Christ on earth. We are all different and God has anointed each of us , and called each of us as individuals to a specific purpose in the body of Christ. It is our own responsibility to discover through prayer, study, meditation , and fellowship with God, just what our special anointing may be, and to perform that calling all to the glory of God.

All members of either body,of that of the physical or the spiritual, must perform in a symphony performance in harmony with one another , if that body is to live and glorify God

" And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it." 1 Cor 12: 26

" And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues." 1 Corinthians 12:28

"Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?" 1 Cor 12:  29

Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?"  1 Corinthians 12:30
"But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way," 1 Cor 12: 31 = charity or love for one another.

Gain the World - Lose the Soul

 Thought for Today - July 7, 2023

Gain the world - Lose the Soul

By: Robert A  Searles

The bible tells us that when God created mankind, he created us in his image- that is , not only did he give us a physical body in which we could live and have our being in the physical realm of the natural world, but upon conception, he breathed his spirit into our physical bodies , and we became living souls, which would live and exist forever in fellowship with him in heaven.

However, because of the disobedience of our first parents Adam and Eve, sin entered the beautiful creation which God had provided, and from then on, all of us who have ever lived on planet earth, our souls have been infected with the disease of the sin nature which causes us to commit sins, and causes us to be separated from fellowship with God.

God who is Holy cannot fellowship with sin, but in his great love and mercy, he provided for all mankind, regardless of race, color or nationality, a remedy, for all of us to be forgiven and reconciled to himself through his only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life" John 3:16

But God has given to all people a free will and a free choice, either to believe and receive his offer of grace and forgiveness and be saved and have an eternal home with him in heaven or to reject his offer of love and salvation and lose his eternal soul forever in hell.

How much do you value your eternal soul? Will you choose eternal life with God in Heaven or spend eternity in the devil's hell?

Mark 8:34 KJV
"And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me."

Mark 8:35 KJV
"For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it."
"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"  Mark 8: 36

Mark 8:37-38

"Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?   Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels."

Proverbs 10:2
"Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death"

1 Samuel 12:21 " And turn ye not aside: for then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain. "

Ecclesiastes 1:3  " What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?"

Ecclesiastes 2:11
"Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun."

Matthew 16:26
"For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?"

1 Timothy 6:6
"But godliness with contentment is great gain."

Philippians 3:7
"But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ."

Luke 9:25
"For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?"

More Valuable Than Birds!

By: Robert A. Searles

God, our father loves each of us so much, that he sacrificed  his only begotten son to redeem and save us, and give us an eternal home in heaven, Don't you think that he will care for us while we are still here on earth, and   provide for us every

thing we have need of.  God , our father takes good care of the birds of the air and other creatures, so,let not your heart be troubled , we are more valuable than birds.

"Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them.   And how much more valuable you are than birds!" Luke 12:24

Bless the Lord at All Times

  Thought for Today - January 13, 2023

Bless The Lord At All Times

 By: Robert A. Searles

"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name." Psalm 103:1

We who are Christins and know of the mercies of God ought to spend the remainder of our lives blessing and praising the Lord for all his goodness to us. How wonderful to know that he has forgiven us all our iniquities, past, present, and future, and we will never again come unto condemnation. How wonderful to know that our once sin sick soul has been healed from the plague of the dominion and power of sin, and sin has no more power and dominion over us to keep us in its' prison.

The loving kindness and tender mercies of God has redeemed our life from destruction. As the mother bird feeds its' young, God daily fills our lives with good things. All things work together for good to them that love God. I am so glad that God hath not dealt with me after my sin, nor rewarded me according to my iniquities, but he sent his only begotten son to die in my place and take my sin upon himself and pay the penalty for me, and as far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our trangression from us.

My friend, if you are not yet a Christian, if you have not yet believed in the only begotten son of God whom God sent to earth to manifest himself to sinful man,and offer himself a sacrifice for the sin of the world, I admonish you to receivce him by faith, and ask him to forgive your sin, and come live in your heart and give you eternal life. Then as millions of others will testify along with the psalmist, you will have gladness and joy in your heart, and you will have reason to bless the Lord all the day long with all that is within you.

the Secret Place

 Thought for Today - January 12, 2023
The Secret Place
By: Robert A.Searles

As the hymn writers have expressed  it:  “There is a land beyond the river, that we call the sweet forever, and we only reach that shore by faith's decree.....” - author:  unknown

“There is a land that is fairer than day, and by faith we can see it  afar.  Where the Father waits over the way, to prepare us a dwelling place there.....” -  author:  Sanford F. Bennett

“There is a garden where Jesus is waiting, there is a place that is wondrously fair.  For it glows with the light of  his presence, its  the beautiful garden of prayer.....” - author:  Eleanor Allen Schroll

Faith is the vehicle which transports us and causes us to transcend the earthly realm of our material, natural existence in which we find ourselves with all the stress, and trouble, and woes of this life, to our secret vacation spot where no stress and trouble and woes can pursue us, a place which is known only to God and us; a secret place of quiet rest, where in the presence of God, there can be no evil, no sickness, no falsehood, no hypocrisy.

In that secret place we can enjoy a quiet restful  mini-vacation, as it were, each day even as we go about our daily activities.  If we will retire to our quiet place with God all during the course of the day, our joys will increase, our health will improve, stress will be less, and we will find ourselves more effective in all that we do.

As we commune with God the Father, and he directs our paths, only far away will we hear the noise of strive falling upon our ears.  We will hear only, but none of these things can move us because we will be dwelling in “Beulah Land”.

“Be thou my strong habitation where unto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me. For thou art my rock and my fortress.” Psalm 71: 3

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty.  I will say of the Lord, he is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in him will I trust.  Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.  He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust, his truth shall be thy shield and buckler  Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flieth by day, nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness, nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.  A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.  Only with thine eyes shall thou behold and see the reward of the wicked,  Because thou has made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most high thy habitation, there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.  For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.  They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot aginst a stone.  Thou shall tread upon the lion  and adder, the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.  Because he has set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.  He shall call  upon me and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.  With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation." Psalm 91

Praise and Thanksgiving

  Thought for Today - January 11, 2023
Praise And Thanksgiving
By: Robert A. Searles

“Ye that fear the Lord, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.” Psalm 22: 23

To fear the Lord does not mean that we are afraid of God as some one who is out to get even with us or to catch up with us and take vengeance upon us. If we have sought the redemption offered to us by the Lord Jesus Christ, then we are the children of God by adoption, and we can enter into a wonderful relationship and fellowship with God.

To fear God means to be fully aware of his great power, and omnipotence, and his right to rule the universe; it means that we recognize ourselves as helpless creatures on this ball of earth, and that we are completely dependent upon the spirit of God to guide us and lead us in right paths.

When we approach the throne of God and the mercy seat, we ought to come before God with fear and trembling, in the sense that we realize that we can enter God's presence only by his grace, and only after a terrible price was paid for our redemption, namely, the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We ought to come before God, uplifting the name of Jesus. Our chief purpose ought to be to praise God, and glorify him.

God is spirit, and they that worship him must worship him in spirit. God is a rewarder of all those who diligently seek him. Many times we fail to worship God properly. We ought to be absorbing the essence and spirit of God  as a sponge absorbs water, so that when God sees fit to squeeze us a little, his spirit will be poured out on others through us like water pours from a saturated sponge.

Most of the time that we are in prayer or fellowship with God ought to be in praise and it ought to glorify his name. All the host of heaven are watching and listening to see if God is glorified in us. We ought to always lift up the name of Jesus; praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise God for salvation; praise God for life everlasting; praise God for our homes; praise God for each others companionship; praise God for the fellowship of the Holy Spirit; and praise God for opportunity to serve.

“Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.” Psalm 33: 1

“Praise ye the lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant, and praise is comely.”
Psalm 147: 1

“I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34: 1

“O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.” Psalm 34: 3

“Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me, and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.”
Psalm 50: 23.

“Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands: sing forth the honor of his name: make his praise glorious.” Psalm 66: 1,2

“Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp (out in theworld) bearing his reproach. For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” Hebrews 13: 13, 14, 15

Then following praise and worship and thanksgiving, comes service. “But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” Hebrews 13: 16
