This Man Called Jesus

     This man called Jesus, the good shepherd, the divine son of God, our Savior and our Lord!  To him belongs all honor and glory, and majesty, and all men and women, boys and girls, and young people ought to humble themselves in his mighty presence,  and acknowledge him  as the only way to God the Father, and the only way to eternal everlasting life.

     All who have gone before him are thieves and robbers, and all  who may come after him are imposters.  Blessed be the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

  “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4: 12

     “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name; that at the  name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth,  and things under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God The Father.” Philippians 2: 9-11

     He came into the world to rescue the lost and to bring them safely home to God the Father, even as a good shepherd goes into the wilderness to search for the lost sheep and  finding it, brings it safely back  to the  fold.

     This man called Jesus is Christ the Lord, the good shepherd.  The good shepherd  giveth his life for the sheep.

 “He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities:  the chastisement of our peace was upon  him; and with his stripes we are healed.  All we like sheep  have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53: 5-6

     Obedient to God the  Father in every aspect of his life, setting  the example for us who have been rescued, to follow in his steps that we might grow into his image and someday in heaven, reach the ideal to be as he is.  He has given unto us who have received him by faith, eternal life, and  we shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck us out of his hand.
     He and the Father are one, and he  has so reconciled us to God, that we are also one with the  Father through him.

 Thanks be to God our Father for his unspeakable gift of his son, the Lord Jesus Christ to be our Savior,  our Lord and our shepherd.  This man called Jesus who is God incarnate.

Prince Of Peace

Prince Of Peace

     Jesus Christ is known as the Prince of Peace.  His mission on earth was to make peace between God and man.  At his birth, the angels proclaimed: “peace on earth, good will toward men”, meaning that God was willing to sacrifice his son, so that mankind could receive pardon for their sins, and be at peace with God.
     Since Adam's and Eve's disobedience to God's word in the garden, mankind had been cast out of God's paradise, and all people became enemies of God, and there was war between men and God.
     Christ Jesus came into the world as the Prince of Peace to be a mediator between God and man, and to pay the price for man's sin, which is death or separation from God forever.  Individuals who will acknowledge him as God, and accept him as their sin sacrifice, will receive pardon and forgiveness, and be reconciled to God the Father and be at peace with him.
     Contrary to popular opinion, Christ did not come into the world to make peace among nations. In fact, he prophesied that there would be wars and rumors of wars before his final return and reign on earth.  He prophesied that because some would receive him as their Savior and some, would not, tension and strife would increase, and brother would be at war with brother, and the members of one's own household would be his foes.  Family ties are strong and blood is thicker than water, and we tend to defend our own, but Jesus taught that where God's word and truth are concerned, if we are truly servants of God, we must love God more than any others and take our stand for truth and combat falsehood and evil wherever it may be found, even among our loved ones and family members.
     There is a price to be paid for being a servant of the Lord, if we are to stand on his truth and righteousness.  If we are to find and enjoy life eternal, we must be willing to lose our life here for his cause.
     Jesus said:  “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.  For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.  And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.  He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me nd he that taketh not his cross and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.  He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” Matthew 10: 34-39

God's Promise Of Forgiveness

God's Promise Of Forgiveness

     The question is asked - “Who shall ascend unto the hill of the Lord?, Or who shall stand in his Holy place?” Psalm 24: 3 (KJV).

  Since the fall of mankind in Eden, no one has been found to be qualified to stand in his own righteousness, before God, because the answer to this question, and requirement is - “He  that hath clean hands and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity; nor sworn deceitfully.  He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.” Psalm 24: 4, 5.

     Only one person has ever qualified to enter the gate of God's holiness, and he alone is righteous among men.  He alone has clean hands and a pure heart, and has not lifted up his  soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.  His name is Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ, the Messiah who came down from God.  He alone may enter, in his own righteousness, into the presence of God the Father.

     For God has declared that  there is none righteous.  “For as it  is written, there is none righteous, no not one.” Romans 3:10  “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of  God.” Romans 3: 23 (KJV)

The good news is, that there is no sin that God cannot or will not forgive if we will humble ourselves and by faith ask for his forgiveness.  Jesus, while feasting in the house of a Pharisee, forgave a sinful woman, who showed her faith and acceptance of him by washing his feet with her hair, and anointed them with precious ointment. See Luke 7: 36-50

  If we expect to be the recipient of God's mercy and forgiveness, we must not hold resentments and grudges against those who have trespassed against us, but we must be willing to forgive as God has forgiven us

    All of mankind carries a heavy burden on his shoulders, and that burden weighs him down,  and causes  him shame, and degradation, and if not removed, will send him to hell.  That burden on the shoulder of all mankind is sin.  Those who continue to carry that heavy burden of sin in their heart, can have no fellowship  with God. And since God created man to enjoy his fellowship,  and when a man's fellowship with his creator is not a fact of his life, then man is like the beast of the earth that perish. God is not willing that any should perish. He has provided a way by which all men and women, boys and girls, can  have the burden of sin removed from them, and their fellowship with him restored.

     Without God's fellowship, men and women, boys and  girls, perish;  families fall apart; nations and empires crumble.  It is almost impossible today to turn on the television or log on to the internet without seeing someone with a gun or weapon in his hand ready to kill, or to witness someone in bed with another person's wife or husband, committing adultery, or hearing filthy blasphemous words being broadcast for all to hear.  How could a Holy God have fellowship with that kind of trash?

     I fear for our nation that,  if it's people do not turn from their wicked ways and get back to the business of fellowship with God. who has made provision for,  all who will, to  accept his offer of salvation, that fearful judgements will fall upon us.  God is more willing to forgive than we are to be forgiven.  God has promised us forgiveness and restoration to fellowship with him if we will only accept his  terms.

     What are God's terms?  They are – to humble ourselves; pray; turn from our wicked ways; seek God; Then God is faithful to keep his covenant with men.  God hears; forgives sin; heals; the Lord is merciful, gracious, slow to anger; plenteous in mercy; he remembers sin no more; the lost are found and restored to fellowship with him.  God has provided forgiveness to all who will call upon him.and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

     A well known promise from the word of God which has been  repeated and quoted and preached many times, but is truly valid  for the salvation of our nation - “If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin, and heal their land.” 2Chronicles 7: 14 (KJV)

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1: 9

     “The  Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.  He will not always chide; neither will he keep his anger forever.  He hath not  dealt with us according to our iniquity.  For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.  As far as the east is from the west, so far  hath he removed our transgressions from us.”. Psalm 103: 8 -12

     “And they shalt teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, know the Lord; for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, sayeth the Lord; for I will forgive their iniquity; and I will remember their sins no more.” Jeremiah 31: 34

     How wonderful for us to have God remember our sins no  more!  God has provided  a way that  his promise of forgiveness may be fulfilled through his only begotten son, the Lord  Jesus Christ.  Christ died for our sins according to the   scriptures, he was buried and rose  again the third day, according to the scriptures, he ascended into heaven-and is now our high priest interceding for us.  He will come again  at God's appointed time to restore all kingdoms and nations to himself.

Righteous Anger

We ought to be angry at sin and wickedness , our own and that all around us, every day, yet without adding more sin to sin.

"Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. " Ephesians 4

Where Is Safety?

      The safest place to be is in the center of the will of God; and to dwell in the secret place of the most high, and abide under the shadow of the almighty.

 

 There is no greater refuge or fortress than our blessed Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. If we put our trust completely in him, he is faithful and just to forgive all our sins, and to deliver us from all unrighteousness.

 

      Our enemy, Satan, is seeking to devour us and ruin our testimony. He sets traps for us, but when we hide beneath the “wings”, as it were, of our heavenly Father, we are protected, and the Word of God is our shield and buckler.

 

      Many are lost all around us, and many are caught in Satan's traps. We see destruction all around us, but from the battlements of heaven, as it were, because we are in the high tower of our Lord's habitation.

 

 No evil can befall us, and no plague come nigh our dwelling, unless God so wills it for reasons we know nothing about.

 

      Our body guards are the angels, and they are under the strict orders of our heavenly Father to protect us and watch for our welfare. One cry or one whimper directed to God from one of God's children in distress is enough to set the whole host of heaven in an uproar, and set everything in motion for our rescue.

 

      “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty. I will say of the Lord, he is my refuge and my fortress; my God in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou has made the lord, which is my refuge, even the most high, thy habitation, there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder, the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.” Psalm 91.

 

      If we want to be sure and confident of God's protection from the evils that are in the world, and all around us, we must change our place of residence from the world, to the secret place of the most high.

Wise Thoughts!

 

Thought For Today – August 8, 2023
Wise Thoughts!

     What do we think about throughout the day?  What do we think about ourselves?  What do we think about others?  What do we think and meditate about God?  We are instructed by God not to think of ourselves and others more highly than we ought to think.
     Our first thoughts each new day  ought to be of God, and our meditations ought to be of him and of his majestic glory over all things.
  “Know therefore this day, and consider in thine heart, that the Lord, he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath.  There is none else.” Deut 4: 39.
     “For  I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think  of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” Romans 12: 3.
     Think of the loving kindness of the Lord, and the daily graces he bestows upon us.
     “We have thought of thy loving kindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.” Psalm 48: 9.
     When we  see ourselves as God sees us, and meditate on our own ways, and find ourselves to be  wanting, we need to turn our thoughts to the ways of God and his testimonies.  “I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.” Psalm 119: 59.
     “The thoughts of the righteous are right, but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.” Prov 12:5.
     Our thoughts ought to be focused upon truth, honesty, purity, justice, and all that is beautiful and good.
    " Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things  are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good  report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Phil 4:8.

Our Kinsman Redeemer

Our Kinsman Redeemer

​ Ruth, returning with her mother in law Naomi from the land of Moab after Naomi's husband and sons had died, one of them having been the husband of Ruth, found themselves in need of help and assistance to survive. Where could they go? What could they do? 

 ​  “And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz. And Ruth, the Moabitess, said unto Naomi, let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace, and she said unto her go my daughter. And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers; and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.” Ruth 2: 1-3

In times of our spiritual want and famine, when we see ourselves impoverished, and not knowing where to turn for help, where shall we find grace (that free gift), and be allowed to glean in his field? 

Where else, excerpt in Christ our kiinsman , our Father's son, our savior, and our brother? He it is that we must seek after. 

 “Then said Boaz unto Ruth, hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens; let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them; have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? And when thou art atrhirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.” Ruth2: 8,9 

 Once we have found him, Christ our kinsman redeemer, or better still, when he has found and rescued us, we need not, and we must not go to glean in any other field. 14 ​ 15

 “Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I an a stranger?” Ruth 2: 1

 Why have we, unworthy sinners, found grace in the eyes of the Lord that he should take knowledge of us to shed his blood for us and save us, seeing that we are sinners and strangers to him. We should be so grateful for what Christ has done for us! Why should we have found grace in his eyes?

 Only because he has loved us from the very foundations of the earth. 

 “And Boaz answered and said unto her, it hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband, and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore. The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come o trust.” Ruth 2: 11-12 

 God will surely reward all those who flee to him for salvation, and lean upon him for wisdom, and trust in his providence 

 When Ruth returned home that day from the field of Boaz, her mother in law asked her, “where hast thou gleaned today? And where wroughtest thou? Blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee, and she shewed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, the man's name with whom I wrought today is Boaz.” Ruth 2: 19 

 Matthew Henry once said: “It is a good question to ask ourselves every night, where have I gleaned today? What improvements have I made in knowledge and grace? What have I done that will turn in a good account?”
