Jesus Never Fails

Thought for Today - May 25, 2024
Jesus Never Fails

 By: Robert A. Searles
Men will disappoint you, but Jesus never fails.  Men will abandon you, but Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you.  “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.” Psalm 27: 10.  Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior is one who sticketh closer than a brother.
“If ye love me, keep my commandments and I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter, that he may abide with you forever: even the spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive because it seeth him not neither knoweth him: but ye know him, for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” John 14: 15-17.

“If a man love me, he will keep my words, and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” John 14: 23.

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1: 6/

Put your confidence and trust in Christ, and not man.  Christ is in control of all men ultimately and all elements of creation must obey him in the end.

Strength From The Lord

 Thought for Today - May 24, 2024

Strength From The Lord

  By: Robert A  Searles

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.;....” Ephesians 6: 10-18

Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Be a true believer. Put on the whole armor of God. Take the confidence you have in the word of God, and hold it up in front of you whenever you are deluged with doubts and fears, and attacks thrown at you by Satan. Claim your salvation, always see Christ on the cross, bleeding and dying, but remember his resurrection on the third day, and realize that the price of your redemption is paid in full. The cross is empty and the tomb is empty. Therefore, it is impossible for you to be mortally wounded and destroyed if you have on the helmet of salvation. Let us fight a good fight as soldiers of Christ. Let us pick up our weapons and march  off to war in the army of our Lord Jesus Christ. The word of God is the weapon of our warfare.

Backward And Inside Out

 Thought For Today - May 23, 2024

 Backward And Inside Out

   By: Robert A. Searles

I sometimes fear for our great country, that we might ever be becoming more ripe for the judgment of God, because, more and more it seems that in order to be politically correct, we must turn our backs on absolute truth, and be disobedient to the moral laws and commandments of God and the values of our fathers that once made our land, America, the leader among nations. But more recently those values are being compromised and corrupted, and turned inside out, so to speak, particularly in governmental circles. A warning was issued by the prophet Isaiah to the nation of Israel many centuries ago that because of this very thing, judgment was pending, and history has proven that judgment did come just as Isaiah had predicted.

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil, that put darkness for light, and light for darkness, that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5: 20.

Who can deny that this is taking place in America today? That which God calls evil, men consider it to be normal and right, and that which God says is good, men ridicule as being old fashioned and irrelevant in today's society. Principles that are being taught and fostered in our educational system today are in direct opposition to the principles that a Holy God has laid down in his Holy Word. According to worldly standards, darkness is considered light, and light is to be considered to be darkness, and bitter is sweet, and sweet is bitter.

“Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight.” Isaiah 5: 21.

Men and women of science, so called, who in their estimation of themselves and their work, think that by their own intelligence and wisdom, they can solve all the mysteries of life and the universe without bringing into their laboratory any consideration of the supernatural intelligence and power of our living God. They prefer to give credit for un-explainable events in the universe to “mother nature” rather than to our “Father God”

“Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!” Isaiah 5:22.23

Instead of being influenced by the spirit of God as God had intended for his creation, men have in the past and still are today, making important and crucial decisions and laws under the influence of alcohol, and drugs, and mind controlling substances. Also, who will deny that many times the wicked are justified and criminals go free through bribes and payoffs of the wealthy in high places.

We must take heed to our ways lest we be judged and destroyed as a free nation under God. We as Christians, in particular, while we wait for the rapture of the church, which according to the word of God will surely come, must take our head out of the sand, and come out of our secluded closets, and let those in authority know that we want truth – God's truth, his morality and his righteousness to prevail in our country. God is not mocked, he is the same today as he was in Isaiah's day. When our great country was founded, there were "Isaiah 's"  in the pulpits across the land thundering out their warning from the word of God, and warning of the consequences of sin and disobedience of the word of God. As a result of their preaching, sinners came running to the altar in repentance, falling on their faces, and begging God's forgiveness.

Preachers - instead of seeking everyone's approval and admiration, stand in your pulpits on Sunday mornings, Sunday Evenings, and whenever you have opportunity and tell it like it is. Ask the Holy Spirit, to enable you with power from on high , through you, to name those things which are a stench in the nostrils of God. If you step on my toes, so to speak, and I am convicted of sins in my life that need to be changed, and if you scare the "hell" out of me, then so be it if it means I am all the better for it

If you violate the so called laws of "political correctness" for naming and identifying particular sins, and even lose your tax exemptions, so be it, God will reward you and make up the difference. Use your office as the servant of God and as Isaiah did in his day in Israel, cause the hills and mountains of America to shudder and tremble at the anger of God, but always remind us  of the outstretched hand of God's mercy and forgiveness when we acknowledge our sins and repent.

“Therefore, as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so, their root shall be as rottenness. And their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the holy one of Israel. Therefore is the anger of the Lord kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.” Isaiah 5: 24,25.

God will surely spare us and bless us if we will sincerely turn back to him, confess our sins, and seek his righteousness.

 May God truly bless America!

Judgment Or Mercy, Which Will It Be?

Thought For Today –  May 22, 2024
Judgment Or Mercy, Which Will It Be?
By: Robert A. Searles
Are you one among those who advocate the removal of the ten commandments from public view, or one who would ban prayer during our public events and educational systems?  Are you one of those who denies the existence of almighty God, and consequently are lost, and without hope, ether in this world or the next?

If you are a member of this group,  I, as a servant of Almighty God, am pressed to warn you of the consequences of your denial of one who loves you with an everlasting love, and desires your eternal salvation and future welfare.

I know that the Lord God  Jehovah – the Lord Jesus Christ exists and lives today because of all that he has bestowed upon me and my family in love, mercy, and salvation.  God is merciful, and extends his love and mercy to all who will respond and receive him; however, God is also a righteous judge, and will bring final judgment  upon all those who reject and deny him.

As God warned his people Israel, through the prophet Isaiah many centuries ago, about that which would become of them if they continued in their sinful ways,   I must warn you today that God will certainly bring righteous judgment on all those who spurn his words of warning and reject his offer of salvation through Jesus Christ.  Listen to that which he said to Israel, and that which he is saying to all of us today.

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!  Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!  Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!  Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust! Because they have cast away the law of the Lord of hosts, and despised the word of the holy one of Israel.  Therefore is the anger of the Lord kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand  against them and hath smitten them; and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets, for all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.” Isaiah 5: 20-25.

If this should be all that you have to look forward to because of your unbelief, why not recognize God's offer of love and mercy before it is too late, and receive Christ as your savior today.  He will not turn you away if you sincerely repent and receive him by faith.  May God be gracious unto you!

Life in the Spirit - More than Conquerors

 Thought for Today - May 21, 2024

Life in the Spirit - More than Conquerors

By: Robert A. Searles

Where do we Live ? Do we live by the demands and desires of the flesh, or are we more than conquerors through Christ, and controlled and guided by the Holy Spirit?  To live and be controlled by the flesh means ultimate death of both body soul  and spirit. To live in the spirit means there is now no condemnation, and we will live and enjoy all the fullness of God's blessings forever.

"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,  because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.  For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.  Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on that which the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on that which the Spirit desires.  The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.  The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.  Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.  Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation-but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it.  For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.  For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.  The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."  The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs-heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.  For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.  We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.  Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.  For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have?5 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.  And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God. More than Conquerors have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.  And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?  He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all-how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?  Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.  Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died-more than that, who was raised to life-is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?  As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,  neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jesus Christ - The Same Yesterday, Today, and Forever

Thought for Today - May 20, 2024

Jesus Christ - The Same Yesterday, Today, and Forever

By: Robert A. Searles

Jesus Christ is very much alive today, in heaven at the right hand of God our Father. That which he did for the palsied man two thousand years ago, he can and many times does for us today if we believe.  Sometimes in extreme cases he takes us to heaven to heal us, wherever our healing takes place it is he who is the great physician; however, in our LORD'S prayer he prayed: "may thy will be done on earth as it is done in heaven"

it seems to me that if he wanted us to be well and healthy in heaven, and that his will be done on earth, that he would want us to be healed and well on earth as well.  Only believe.

Jesus Heals a Palsied Man

"And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.  And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.  And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?  For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?  But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.  And he arose, and departed to his house.  But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men."

God's Promise of Salvation

 Thought For Today - May 18, 2024
God's Promise of Salvation
By: Robert A. Searles
A cry for help is heard from a lost and dying world.  A world  engrossed in sin and evil, shrouded in darkness, and seemingly without hope, clamors for answers, and gropes at the nearest floating straw which has no anchor.
For centuries, since the beginning of time, and when disobedience to God entered the scene, evil has had dominion over the lives of men and women, causing them to murder, steal, lie, and commit all manner of cruelty and atrocities toward one another, and to blaspheme the Holy God who is their creator, and their source of life and well being, although wicked men and women may not recognize him as such.

God's laws are ignored, his Holy word desecrated, and his appeal to the lost to accept his mercy and loving kindness ridiculed, yet a lost world cries for help, but refuses to recognize it when it is offered.

Whenever we have a physical emergency, or a life threatening situation, we send a call to the nearest aid station, such as to 911, the coast guard, the police, the firemen, the national guard.  We welcome the sound of the siren, and the first responders when they arrived on the scene.

The inner soul of all mankind  is in a life threatening state called sin, a state which we are all  aware of because we have been given inherent awareness of our state of affairs.  God has declared all to have sinned and come short of his glory, and consequently, all are lost and without hope in the world,  being separated from God, and trying, by our own efforts to save ourselves.  The world while sinking deeper in the mire of sin, cries peace! peace! when there is no peace, help! help! when there is no help but that from God.

The desperate man cries for help -”From whence cometh my help? The wise man who has discovered his source of help answers - “My help cometh from the Lord who has made heaven and earth.”  God has promised to help and save the lost if they will call upon him in truth and by faith, believing his promises.  God is not willing that any should be lost, but that as many as will call and trust him, he will snatch from the pits of hell and the miry clay, renew a right spirit  within them, clothe them with the garment of Christ's righteousness, and guarantee them a place in his kingdom, and give them eternal life.

When the first responders come to save our physical possessions, and our physical lives, many times they risk and lose their own lives for the sake of those whom they are trying to rescue.  Jesus said: “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man should give up his own life for his friend.”

When a loving heavenly Father responds to the call of a lost sinner, he responds immediately to the call.  Rescue from sin and damnation is sure to the lost, and it is free to the one who receives it, but it was truly expensive to God who gave his only begotten son to leave his riches and  glory in  heaven to come to a sin cursed world to save  the lost. No one need to be lost forever and spend eternity in hell.  God has promised salvation to all who will believe and receive.

Christ is the answer.  He is the first responder to the cry of our soul for salvation.  “Wherefore he is able to save them to the uttermost that  come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession  for them.:” Hebrews 7: 25.

“But the salvation of  the righteous is of the Lord; he is their  strength in time of trouble, and the Lord shall help then; he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them because they trust in him.” Psalm 37: 39, 40.

“And it shall be said in that day, lo, this is our God; we have waited for him , and he will save us; this is the Lord; we have waited for him; we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. Isaiah 25: 9.

“For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and broken down the middle wall between us.” Ephesians 2:14

“For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2: 8.9

God has promised salvation to a lost and dying world, but how shall we  be  saved?  “And they said: believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Acts 16: 31
