Bless The Lord At All Times!

 Thought for Today - May 31, 2024

Bless The Lord At All Times!

 By: Robert A. Searles

“Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless his holy name.” Psalm 103: 1

We who are Christians and know of the mercies of God ought to spend the remainder of our lives blessing and praising the Lord for all his goodness to us. How wonderful to know that he has forgiven all our iniquities, past, present, and future, and we will never again come unto condemnation. How wonderful to know that our once sin sick soul has been healed from the plague of the dominion and power of sin, and sin has no more power and dominion over us to keep us in its' prison.

The loving kindness and tender mercies of God has redeemed our life from destruction. As the mother bird feeds its' young, God daily fills our lives with good things. All things work together for good to them that love God. I am so glad that God hath not dealt with me after my sin, nor rewarded me according to my iniquities, but he sent his only begotten son to die in my place and take my sin upon himself and pay the penalty for me, and as far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgression from us.

My friend, if you are not yet a Christian, if you have not yet believed in the only begotten son of God whom God sent to earth to manifest himself to sinful men, and offer himself a sacrifice for the sin of the world, I admonish you to receive him by faith, and ask him to forgive your sin, and come live in your heart and give you eternal life. Then as millions of others will testify along with the psalmist, you will have gladness and joy in your heart, and you will have reason to bless the Lord Jesus Christ all the day long with all that is within you.

Expect Great Things From God

Thought For Today - May 30, 2024

Expect Great Things From God

 By: Robert A. Searles

"I am the Lord thy God which brought thee out of the Land of Egypt. Open thy mouth wide and I will fill it." Psalm 81:10

Those of us who are saved and know Christ as our personal Savior Can expect to receive great things from God our Father. God delivered his people,Israel, from the slavery and bondage of Egypt, and this is a type and picture for us today of how we through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross are wonderfully delivered from the bondage and slavery of sin, and are given the assurance of God's blessings and provision for us. God tells all of his children simply to have faith, believe, and open wide our mouths and he will fill them.

When we purchase something of great value, usually we take good care of it, we keep it polished and protected and preserved.Likewise a great and terrible prices was paid for our salvation, the blood of the only begotten son of God. As the redeemed children of God, we are in God's sight of great value to him as his offspring and servants. Therefore, God has promised to fill our mouths with good things, and keep us eternally for his glory, so, by faith let us open our mouths wide and expect God to fill us abundantly with great things- the assurance of God's blessings and provision for us, including a mouthful of praise and worship to share with the world.

God's Promise of Salvation!

Thought for Today  June  6, 2024

God's Promise of  Salvation!

By: Robert A.  Searles

God always keeps his promises!  He is God, and cannot lie.  All written scripture is by the   inspiration of God , God breathed his word into tjhe hearts and  minds of the writers of the HOLY Scriptures, the HOLY BIBLE.

I believe in my heart, and confess wih my mouth, that  Jesus Christ is the son of God, and he was crucified, and died to pay for the sin of the world, and the third day God raised  him from the dead as he said he would, and he now lives to interced for all of us who will make him LORD of our life.

Therefore because  it is written, we have the assurance of eternal everlasting life, and will spend eternity in the presencc of God.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”Romans 10: 9

Proverbs 28:13 - "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy."

Philippians 2:11 - "And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father".

But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him." Romans 10: 6-12

Safe And Secure!

Safe And Secure!

 By: Robert A. Searles

Christian do you have a sense of safety and security that accompanies you at all times wherever you are or whatever you are doing? If you are a Christian, a child of God, having been born again into the family of God by placing your faith and trust in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, you can have this sense of security because the Lord is your shepherd, and you are the sheep of his pasture.

 If you will believe it, you can go through the day, and lay your head on your pillow at night with the full assurance that “goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life; and that you will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23 ;

Once saved, then forever sealed and kept by the Holy Spirit so that you need never again fear being lost and separated from God, although at times, because of disobedience, you may be out of God's fellowship because of disregard for God's word.

We like sheep sometimes wander from the fold, but the faithful shepherd will leave the ninety and nine and go after the wandering and wayward sheep to return him to the security of the fold.

You need not be fearful of the prosecuting attorney, your accuser before the throne of God (Satan, the devil), for you are passed from death unto life, and though guilty of sin, you are blameless because -.."there is therefore now no condemnation to them that be in Christ Jesus.”Your judgment is past. The penalty for your sins and mine having been paid by Christ our Lord.

Child of God – redeemed of the Lord – joint heir of Christ, you and I can declare;" I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwellin the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23

A Tree Of Life

Thought for Today - May 28, 2024
A Tree Of Life

By: Robert A. Searles

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.”  Proverbs 11:30 ,
We see a tree growing in the midst of other trees, and we can usually determine what kind of a tree it is by examining the fruit which it bears.  How refreshing, and restoring it would be if we were travelers in the wilderness, and suddenly came upon a tree with fruit which we could eat.

The verse says:  “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life.”  Are we like a tree planted in the vineyard of our God?  Are we one of those that be planted in the house of the Lord, and are we flourishing in the courts of our God?  Are we a tree called “righteous”?

“The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.  Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.  They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing”. Psalm 92: 12-14 (KJV).

Righteous trees that are flourishing in the courts of God shall still bring forth fruit in old age.  Is the fruit that we are bearing, life giving, and life sustaining to travelers who pass our way?  The scripture says that the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life.  Will someone live and be sustained, and grow because they have eaten of our fruit today?  Are we truly a tree of life?  Are we truly soul winners?  He that winneth souls is wise.

Let us examine ourselves and see if we are indeed righteous, not that we are righteous in our selves, but that we have been made righteous by the finished work of Christ.  And let us examine ourselves and see if we are indeed planted and flourishing in the courts of our God.  We cannot abide long as a branch unless we are  firmly attached to the root which is the Lord Jesus Christ.

What kind of fruit are we bearing?  Is it eatable to a hungry soul that may come our way today?  Jesus said that a branch that bears no fruit is good for nothing and is cut off and thrown away, but even the branch that does bear  fruit, the husbandman purgeth and pruneth it so that it  might bear more fruit.

May it be said of us that we are righteous trees, growing in the courts of God, and that our fruit is a tree of life, and pray that we will still bring forth fruit in old age.

Lie Not Against The Truth

 Thought for - Today - May 27, 2024

 Lie Not Against The  Truth

  By: Robert A. Searles

“Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom decendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is there is confusion and every evil work.” James 3: 13-16

Dear friends, one of the methods that Satan uses to try to destroy us and to ruin our testimony as aChristian is to cause us to harbor bitter envying and strife in our heart. Satan knows the effect that bitterness and strife can have on our mind and our bodies. It can cause an imbalance in the chemical make up in our bodies, eventually causing breakdown and illness, and it can cause our thinking process to be irrational and perverted; also , it can cause our thoughts to be turned away from our blessed Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

My friend, if there is any trace of bitterness or strife in your heart this morning as you begin this new day, glory not, but confess it to God and lie not against the truth. Jealousy, envy and covetousness are all grievous sins and displeasing to God our Father who has promised to be generous to his children and to provide for all our needs. Bitterness, envy, strife, jealousy and covetousness are the elements which lead to war.

“From whence come wars and fighting among you? Come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and can not obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not because ye ask not. Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” James 4: 1-3

Dear friend in Christ, let us turn to our Lord, our Savior Jesus Christ this morning, and to the written word which he has given us, and allow the Holy Spirit, through the word of God to wash away all this bitterness, and to cleanse us and make us fit vessels for the master's use. Get into the word of God, and by the washing of the word, be clean.

“For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy, and the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace” James 3: 16-18

“But he giveth more grace, wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” James 4: 6-10

Born Of God.

Thought For Today - May 26, 2024

 Born Of God.

 By: Robert A. Searles

“Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3.

“Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot see the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again.” John 3: 5, 6, 7.

My friend, if you cannot fully appreciate the word of God, believe its' promises, and perceive with your heart and mind all the glories, joys, and happiness of the kingdom of God; if you cannot enjoy the fellowship with God in a parent – child relationship, and experience the sense of justification and forgiveness of sins past, present, and future, perhaps it is because you have never truly been “born again” into the family of God. When Adam and Eve our first earthly parents disobeyed God at the very beginning of creation, they sold their birthright to Satan, and since then every human being that has ever been born has inherited the sin nature, and comes into the world already estranged from God. So, when we are born, we are born in the flesh only. Our spiritual life does not begin at the time of our physical birth.

Although God is the creator of all, he is not the father of all until his child has been conceived and born. God is spirit, he must be worshiped in spirit, and to become a child of God, we must be born in the spirit.

“The natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2: 14.

In order to be born into the family of God, it is totally a work of God's grace. We must be drawn by God to hear and accept the word of God as absolute truth, and by faith believe, as it says that - “All scripture is given by inspiration of God”, and that “holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the holy ghost.” One must accept by faith that Jesus Christ is the divine son of God, and that he died for the sins of each individual person who will receive him, and that his bodily resurrection was proof that God had accepted his sacrifice in payment of their sin debt, and for the justification of all who will receive him. Intellectual knowledge is not enough. The heart must confirm by faith, that which the mind knows factually.

The world says prove it to me, and I will believe. God says, believe me and then I will prove it to you by spiritual discernment. “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned, but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God. John 3: 16, 17, 18.

“As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them who believe on his name, which were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1: 12, 13.

Dear reader, I invite you to believe the word of God; to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. If God is drawing you to himself, and has implanted within your heart a grain of faith as minute as the grain of mustard seed, if you are willing, by receiving the Word of God into your heart, this grain of faith will become impregnated with the word of God, and cause you to become a child of God. Then the Holy Spirit will dwell within you and cause you to know God, enjoy God, and perceive the kingdom of God, and have the assurance of eternal, everlasting life.
