Expect Great Things From God

 Thought For Today - August 7, 2024

Expect Great Things From God

By: Robert A. Searles

"I am the Lord thy God which brought thee out of the Land of Egypt. Open thy mouth wide and I will fill it." Psalm 81:10

Those of us who are saved and know Christ as our personal Savior Can expect to receive great things from God our Father.

God delivered his people,Israel, from the slavery and bondage of Egypt, and this is a type and picture for us today of how we through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross are wonderfully delivered from the bondage and slavery of sin, and are given the assurance of God's blessings and provision for us.

God tells all of his children simply to have faith, believe, and open wide our mouths and he will fill them.

When we purchase something of great value, usually we take good care of it, we keep it polished and protected and preserved.Likewise a great and terrible price was paid for our salvation, the blood of the only begotten son of God. As the redeemed children of God, we are in God's sight of great value to him as his offspring and servants.

Therefore, God has promised to fill our mouths with good things, and keep us eternally for his glory, so, by faith let us open our mouths wide and expect God to fill us abundantly with great things- the assurance of God's blessings and provision for us.

PS; May God bless all my readers! God loves us all! Jesus Christ died for us, and rose again to save us! Praise God!Share this gospel truth with your friends and with the world. Amen!

Our Sin Forgiven!

 Thought for Today - August 6, 2024

Our Sin Forgiven!

By: Robert A. Searles

Praise God! God has promised us the forgiveness of our sin and reconciliation with him if only we will cnfess our sin to him and believe in our heart that Jesus Christ is the virgin born son of God; that he died for our sin; and that he rose again  and ascended  into heaven, and  promised to come again to take all true believers back to heaven with him forever.

“As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”Psalm 103:12

9"He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. 10He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. 11For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. 12As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. 13Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. 14For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. 15As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth." Psalm 103:9-13 - "I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins." Isaiah 43:25

"Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back". Isaiah 38:17

"In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve." Jeremiah 50:20

Be Strong and of Good Courage

 Thought for Today - August 5, 2024

Be Strong and of Good Courage

By: Robert A. Searles

"Be strong and of good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I swear unto their  fathers to give them. Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from  it to the right hand  or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. This book of the law shalt not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate  therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: For then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have great success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. "Joshua 1:6-9

"Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up, he fighting daily  oppresseth me. Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most high. What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what man can do  unto me." Psalm 56: 1-4

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, or life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Rom 8: 38, 39

"But we have this treasure in  earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not  in despair; persecuted, but not  forsaken; cast down, but not  destroyed; always bearing about in the body the dying of  the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. for we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. So then death worketh in us, but life in you.  We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is writtem, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and  shall present us with you. For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.  For which cause we faint not, but though out outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.  For our light  affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.  While we look not at the  things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for  the things which are seen are temporal; but the  things which are not seen are eternal." 2 Cor 4: 7-14

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be  able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt  about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness: and your feet shod with the preparation of  the gospel  of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye  shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the  helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all  saints." Ephes 6: 10-18

"For I am now  ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight,  I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them that love his appearing." 2 Tim 4: 6-8

The Lip Of Truth -

  Thought for  Today - August 3, 2024

The Lip Of Truth -

 By: Robert A. Searles

“The lip of truth shall be established forever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.” Proverbs 12: 19

Truth will prevail and last forever. God is true, therefore eternal and everlasting. His word is true and trustworthy therefore we can rely on it. All kinds of fantasies and lies may come and pass away, but whatever is true, that will remain.

If one's relationship with God is true, troubles may come, doubts may come, a certain falling away for a time may occur, but like the evening tide, that sweet fellowship with the Lord will return to the one who in truth knows him in whom he has believed.

If the foundation of the home is dug deep and set upon the rock of the true God, the Lord Jesus Christ, that house will stand and endure forever.

If a marriage is founded upon true and genuine unselfish love, that marriage relationship will be forever.

Salvation which is true through the Lord Jesus Christ is a truth which will abide through all generations.

Think therefore on things which are true, and speak things which are true.

PS; May God bless all my readers! God loves us all! Jesus Christ died for us, and rose again to save us! Praise God!Share this gospel truth with your friends and with the world. Amen

While We Wait

Thought for  Today - August 2, 2024

While We Wait

 By: Robert A. Searles

While we exercise our faith and patiently wait for that blessed hope of the Lord's promise 0f his coming for his church, may we live  each day in great expectation that it may be today, and have oil in our lamps and the wicks trimmed and live in such a way that we will not be ashamed  to meet him in the air  Let us follow Paul's message to the Thessalonians and strive to please God.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

“That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.”

"Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication "For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit." 1Thesalonians 4; 1-8

"That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing. But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope."

A Tree Of Life -

Thought for Today - August 1, 2024
A Tree Of Life  -

 By: Robert A. Searles

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.”  Proverbs 11:30 ,
We see a tree growing in the midst of other trees, and we can usually determine what kind of a tree it is by examining the fruit which it bears.  How refreshing, and restoring it would be if we were travelers in the wilderness, and suddenly came upon a tree with fruit which we could eat.

The verse says:  “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life.”  Are we like a tree planted in the vineyard of our God?  Are we one of those that be planted in the house of the Lord, and are we flourishing in the courts of our God?  Are we a tree called “righteous”?

“The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.  Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.  They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing”. Psalm 92: 12-14

Righteous trees that are flourishing in the courts of God shall still bring forth fruit in old age.  Is the fruit that we are bearing, life giving, and life sustaining to travelers who pass our way?  The scripture says that the fruit of the righteous is a tree of life.  Will someone live and be sustained, and grow because they have eaten of our fruit today?  Are we truly a tree of life?  Are we truly soul winners?  He that winneth souls is wise.

Let us examine ourselves and see if we are indeed righteous, not that we are righteous in our selves, but that we have been made righteous by the finished work of Christ.  And let us examine ourselves and see if we are indeed planted and flourishing in the courts of our God.  We cannot abide long as a branch unless we are  firmly attached to the root which is the Lord Jesus Christ.

What kind of fruit are we bearing?  Is it eatable to a hungry soul that may come our way today?  Jesus said that a branch that bears no fruit is good for nothing and is cut off and thrown away, but even the branch that does bear  fruit, the husbandman purgeth and pruneth it so that it  might bear more fruit.

May it be said of us that we are righteous trees, growing in the courts of God, and that our fruit is a tree of life, and pray that we will still bring forth fruit in old age.

Thought for Today - August 1, 2024

“And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.”

28And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. 29And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 30And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. 31And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
