Thought For Today – January 1
Blessed Of God!
“Blessed is he whose
transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man
unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there
is no guile.” Psalm 32: 1, 2.
Are we forgiven? In our spirit is
there no guile? If we are not forgiven, and if in our spirit there
is bitterness and guile, and a guilty conscience, then it seems as if
the hand of God lays heavily upon us, and day and night there is no
rest for our soul.
Only by the shedding of blood can
there be forgiveness and cleansing. The blood of goats and other
animals could never be sufficient for the forgiveness and cleansing
from iniquity. Only one blood in all the universe, the blood of God
himself, the Lord Jesus Christ can redeem mankind and pay for sins.
If when we examine and judge
ourselves we find that we are not completely at peace with God
because of some lingering sin from which we have not sought
forgiveness and applied the blood of Christ to our lives, then we
ought to hasten to do as the psalmist did and acknowledge and
confess our transgressions unto the Lord.
“I acknowledged my sin unto
thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my
transgression unto the Lord and thou forgavest the iniquity of my
sin. Psalm 32: 5.
When we have been completely
honest with God and ourselves, then we are truly blessed of God.
“Many sorrows shall be to the
wicked: but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him
about. Psalm 32: 10 And we can -”Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice
ye righteous; and shout for joy all ye that are upright in heart.”
Psalm 32:11
