Looking Forward To The New Year
Anyone who is planning to go on a
journey is very wise if he or she makes preparation in advance. If
he or she is going to be traveling by automobile, one is smart if
he has his engine tuned up and the oil changed, and the fuel tank
full. A prudent person will know where he is going, and how he is
going to get there. He will have acquired road maps, and will have
studied them diligently.
So it is with our journey through
life, every new day we strike out on a new adventure, not knowing
what a day will bring forth. The sad thing with some of us is that
when it comes to our daily trip through the activities and duties of
each new day we have failed to make adequate preparations.
We who know the Lord Jesus Christ
as our Savior, need not venture out blindly into a wicked , hostile
world without being fortified and strengthened for our journey. We
have an open door to God our Father, who, if we ask anything in the
name of his son, will deny us nothing that is good for us. Before we
begin our day, we can rise up a great while before day and find a
solitary place and get alone with God and pray, even as Jesus himself
was known to do.
“And in the morning, rising up
great while before day, he went out and departed into a solitary
place and there prayed” Mark 1: 35.
If this was necessary for the very
divine son of God to do to begin his day on earth as a man among
men, how much more is it necessary for us to begin our new day, or a
new year by seeking divine guidance from above in this sin cursed
world.? How can we know the direction we should travel if we do not
seek the guidance of one who knows?
“Cause me to hear thy loving
kindness in the morning, for in thee I do trust, cause me to know the
way wherein I should walk, for I lift up my soul unto thee.
Deliver me, O Lord from mine enemies, I flee unto thee to hide me,
teach me to do thy will, for thou art my God, thy spirit is good.
Lead me into the land of uprightness.” Psalm 143: 8-10.

thoughts and Meditations” is the result of my meeting with the
Lord, in a solitary place, in the garden of prayer early in the
morning throughout the years.
