How Could I Know?
If I had never been ill, I could
not have experienced for myself the healing power of God. If I had
never been troubled, I would never have learned first hand that God
can deliver from all troubles. If I had never been afraid, I would
not have known that God is truly my refuge and my high tower. If I
had never been lonely, I would not know the comfort of the Holy
Spirit's presence.
My praise shall be to God who has
greatly healed both my soul and my body, and has delivered me from
many great and sore troubles. He has been my strength and refuge in
times of fear and great difficulty, and my unfailing companion in
times of loneliness. Therefore, my lips shall speak his praise and
my heart render thanks for all that he has done and will do for me.
“Thou, which has shewed me great
and sore troubles, shall quicken me again, and shalt bring me up
again from the depths of the earth. Thou shalt increase my
greatness, and comfort me on every side. I will also praise thee
with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God, unto thee will I sing
with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel. My lips shall greatly
rejoice when I sing unto thee, and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.
My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long:
for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek
my hurt.” Psalm71: 20-24.
