A Prayer for Help
By: Robert A Searles
"Unto thee will I cry ,O Lord my rock; be not silent to me, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit. Hear the voice of my supplication, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle. Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert. Because they regard not the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them and not build them up,Blessed be the Lord , because he hath heard the voice of my supplication. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. The Lord is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed. Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance; feed them also, and lift them up forever." Psalm 28: 1-9.
God is my rock, and I must hear from him the first thing every morning lest I become like them that wander thru the day in darkness and stumble and fall into the pit of sin.
When we cry out to God in the sincerity of our heart, God hears our supplication. He shines light on our way, and shows us the way we are to travel thru the day. When our hearts are made clean and our minds are stayed on him, we will not be drawn away with the works of iniquity.
Praise be to God who promises always to hear our prayers and supplications and provide us with the strength and fortitude necessary to overcome all the forces of evil that come against us. This assurance ought to cause us to go forth today rejoicing and liftig up our hands in praise to him, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
