Thought For Today - September 23
 The Deserted Soul
 By: Robert A. Searles

Sometimes, our enemy Satan, will try to convince us that we have been deserted and forgotten by God.

 Apparently,
David experienced this when he wrote these words in Psalm 13 - "How
long wilt thou forget me O Lord? forever? How long wilt thou hide thy
face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow
in my heart daily? How long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the
sleep of death. Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him: and
those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved." Psalm 13: 1-4

 Job
also asked the same question when he was afflicted and God allowed
Satan to test him: - "Wherefore hidest thou thy face and holdest me for
  thine enemy?" Job 13:24

 There
are times when we may have the same questions. - Where are you God,at
times when we are experiencing pain, sickness, sorrow, grief, and
rejection? It may seem that God is hiding himself from us.

 Then,
God through the Holy Spirit reminded David of his grace and mercy, and
as David prays and calls out to God, he is reassured that if he trusts
in God's grace and mercy, he shall rejoice in his salvation, because
God has dealt bountifully with him.

 "But
I have trusted in thy mercy: my heart shall rejoice in thy salvatuon..
I will sing unto the Lord because he hath dealt bountifully with me."
  Psalm 13: 5-6

 Whatever
our present condition and circumstances may be, we have the same
promises of God that he is always with us, he loves us, and knows and
provides for all our needs. We can also say - "I will sing unto the
Lord for he hat dealt bountifully with me."
