Abundantly Blessed?

Abundantly Blessed?
By: Robert A. Searles
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, are you one of those persons
whom God has blessed over and abundantly more than you could ever
expect? Are you rich in the things of this world? Do you own a large
estate? Do you have houses and lands, and bank accounts at your disposal
to do with as you wish? Have you attained a high degree of education,
and do your peers look upon you with great admiration for your apparent
success?
I
must warn you to take heed that you do not glorify yourself and pat
yourself on the back, as it were, for having attained these things,
because, but for the grace of our living Savior, you would have nothing
and you could become nothing.
The bible says: “ Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds and
destitute of truth, supposing that gain is godliness from such withdraw
thyself” 1 Timothy 6: 5
But
the real truth of the matter is that: “Godliness with contentment is
great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we
can carry nothing out, and having food and raiment let us be therewith
content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare,
and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction
and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which
while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced
themselves through with many sorrows. But thou , O man of God, flee
these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith love,
patience, meekness.” 1 Timothy 6-11.
“Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high minded,
nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us
richly all things to enjoy.” 1 Timothy 6: 17.
