Boast Not in Ourselves!

"If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth." Proverbs 30: 32.
We must be aware of our own weakness, and not be over confident in our own strength in spiritual things, and not be haughty and high minded. For wherein we seem to be the most confident, it is here that we are in the most danger of failure. We must be in a state of constant prayer and communion with the Lord, asking him to supply our strength and faith, and keep us steadfast and unremovable.
Jesus warned his disciples that he was to be betrayed by one of them, and that he would be delivered up to the authorities to be crucified
"And Jesus saith unto them, all ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered. But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee. But Peter said unto him, although all shall be offended, yet will not I. And Jesus saith unto him, verily I say unto thee, that this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice." Mark 14: 27-30
Let us not boast in our own strength to see us through trying times, but rely on the promises of God that he will supply the grace that we need in times of trial.
