Keep Our Soul From Troubles
By: Robert A. Searles
If we would keep our soul from troubles, then this proverb tells us that we must diligently control our mouth and our tongue.
Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.”Proverbs 21: 23
"There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up. He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour. A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof. Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles. Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath. The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour. He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not."Proverbs 21:20-26
" The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble." Proverbs 12:13
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Proverbs 18:21
-" In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise." Proverbs 10:19
"He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding." Proverbs 17:27-28
