The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.

Keep Our Soul From Troubles

Thought for Today - February 28, 2025

 Keep Our Soul From Troubles

By: Robert A. Searles

If we would keep our soul from troubles, then this proverb tells us that we  must diligently control our  mouth and  our tongue.

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.”Proverbs 21: 23

"There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up. He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour. A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof. Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles. Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath. The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour. He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not."Proverbs 21:20-26

" The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble." Proverbs 12:13

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Proverbs 18:21

-" In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise." Proverbs 10:19

"He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding."  Proverbs 17:27-28

Pride Goeth Before Destrucrion!

 Thought for Today - February 27, 2025

Pride Goeth Before Destruction!

By: Robet A. Searles

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”Proverbs 16:18

"When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom." Proverbs 11:2

"The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD."   Obadiah 1:3

"The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low' Isaiah 2:11)

"In the light of the king's countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain. How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver! The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he. The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning" Prverbs 16:15-21

"When q Man's Ways Pleasw the Lord"

Thought for Today - February 26, 2025

"When q Man's Ways Pleasw the Lord"

By: Robert A. Searles

“When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him." Proverb 16:7

"The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil. When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps. A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment." Proverb 16: 4-10

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?   Romans 8:31

TtHE EYES OF THE lORD ARE in EVERY PLACE!

Thought for Today - February 25, 2025

TtHE EYES OF THE lORD ARE  in   EVERY  PLACE!

By: Robert A. Searles

“The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.”Proverbs 15: 3

 - Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do." Hebrews 4:13)

"For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars" 2 Chronicles 16:9)

Job 31:4 - Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps? " Job 31:4)

"A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness. The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent. In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble." Proverbs 15: 1-6

Righteousness Exalteth A Nation!

 Righteousness Exalteth A Nation!

 By: Robert A. Searles

“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”Proverb 14:  34 .  HEthat oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.  The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death. Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known. Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any peple. The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.Proverb 14: 31-35

The Blessing of the Lord Maketh Rich

 Thought for Today - February 21, 2025

The Blessing of the Lord Maketh Rich

By: Robert A. Searles

“The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”   Proverbs 10:22

"In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise. "

The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth. lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom. The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom. The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted. As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation" Proverbs 10: 20-25

" Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him." Genesis 26:12

" The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them" 1 Samuel 2:7-8.

- He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him"  Proverbs 28:22

The Wise in heart Will teceive Commandments!

By: Robert A. Searles

“The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.”proverbs 10:8

" He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame. 6Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. 7The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot. 8The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall. 9He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known. 10He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall. 11The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked"Proverb 10: 5-11

The Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom!

Thought for Today - February 19, 2025

The Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom!

By: Robert A, Searles

No one can claim to be truly educated no matter how inteligent he may think he is, or whatever prestigious college oar university he may have attemded until he has a solid foundation for his education built on the fear, knowledge, and understnding of  almighty God.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”Proverbs  9:10

"He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased. If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it. A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing" .Proverb 9: 7-13-

" The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction" Proverbs 1:7

" The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever." Psalms 111:10-

"Thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever". 1 Chronicles 28:9

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man Ecclesiastes 12:13

"And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life"1 John 5:20

Keep Thy Heart With All Diligence

Thought for Today - February18, 2025

Keep Thy Heart with All Diligence!

By: Robert A. Searles

Be careful eyes what you look upon, and be careful ears what you listen to. Our eyes and ears are portals to our mind which feeds our spititual heart and soul. God's word tells us that that which we are or become is the result of what we are thinking about most of the time.

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”Proverbs 4:23

"My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. 22For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established." Proverbs 4:20-26

Matthew 12:34-35 - "\O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things." Matthew 12:34,35

"A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh."    Luke 6:45

By: Robert A. Searles

“The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.”Proverbs 3:35

"For the froward is abomination to the LORD:  but his secret is with the righteous. The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked : but he blesseth the habitation of the just Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly. Happy is the Man That Findeth Wisdom!

 Thought for Today - February 15, 2025

Happy is the Man That Findeth Wisdom!

By: Robert A. Searles

Nothing could be more valuable to any man, womn, boy or girl to contribute to their happiness ,joy, wealth, and well being  than the wisdom and instructon found in the word of God.

“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.”Proverbs 3:13

"So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honor-" Proverbs 3:10-16

" Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD."Proverbs 8:32)

"Now there was found a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good".Ecclesiastes 9:15)

"Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee."Proverbs 4:5)

From Where Do We Get Wisdom?

 Thought for Today - February 14, 2025

From Where Do We Get Wisdom?

By: Robert A. Searles

We are told that if we would experience a more abundant life  here on earth  and spend eternity in heaven with God, we need to daily seek wisdom and  get undertnding .  But from where comes reliable wisdom  and undestanding  that we can know to be absolutely true and  trustworthy? Not from secular education and philosophy , to be sure. but only from the infalltble  inspired word of God.

“For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.”Proverbs 2:6

"Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;  if thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path."

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”James

Search Me, O God, and Know My Heart!

Thought For Today - February 11, 2025

Search Me O Lord, and Know MyThoughts!

God searches the hearts of his people.  When he searches our heart What does he find? Does he find our thoughts focused on Christ and heavenly things or are we more concerned with  things which are going  on  in the natural realml of the world?

We need to search our own heart and judge ourselves  daily to see if  the thoughts and meditation of our heart are pleasing and honoring to God,

“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:” Psalm 139: 23-

" Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity" Job 31:6

"Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart." Psalms 26:2) - The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.Proverbs 17:3

"That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the coming of Jesus Christ:" 1 Peter 1:7) 0

"For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain. Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? I hate them with  hatred: I count them mine enemies.Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. - But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause." Jeremiah 11:20)

Safety With the Lord!

Thought For Today - February 9, 2025
  Safety With the Lord!

By: Robert A. Searles

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the almighty." Psalm 91: 1.

What safety and comfort there is to be found, living continually in the presence, and fellowship of God, and to be overshadowed by almighty  God!Thank God  this is possible for each of us who have been redeemed by the precious blood of Christ ,and have been born again as God's own children.    "I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust, Surely he shall deliver me from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome, pestilence." Psalm 91:2,3.

The devil is constantly setting traps for God's children, but God keeps us and delivers us from them all.
"Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most high, thy habitation; there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling: For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." Psalm 91: 9

We need to learn to exercise our right and privilege as the Children of God to dwell in the habitation of God. When we live and dwell in the presence of the Lord, and abide with him, then we are safe from all evil.

Have you called unto God this morning?

 Thought For Today - February 5, 2025
Have you called unto God this morning?

By: Robert A. Searles

"Unto thee will I cry, O Lord my rock; be not silent to me, lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit. Hear the voice of my supplication, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle. Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts." Psalm 28: 1-3.
We need to hear from God each and every morning so that we might know the road we should travel on that particular day. If we do not fellowship with God each morning through prayer and meditation in his word, we tend to be drawn away with the wicked and workers of iniquity. If we do not hear from God ,we fall into a pit of despair and depression. When we do not regard the word of God - when we do not seek him the first thing in the morning, and give him praise and thanksgiving for all that he does for us, and all the good things in our lives - our blessings diminish and we become spiritually destitute.
The light is always burning in God's window, as it were, to lead us safely home. His arms are open wide to welcome and receive us back into fellowship with him, and give us the assurance of his love and protection for us.
"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him." Psalm 28: 7.\
