A Threefold Cord!
By: Robert A. Searles
My Christian friend, and brother, who can find a virtuous woman? "For her price is far above rubies." Proverb 31: 10.
If you are blessed of God with a good wife, you ought to treasure her
above everything else under God. "A virtuous woman is a crown to her
husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones."
Proverbs 12: 4.
"Who so findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favor of the Lord." Proverb 18: 22
A good wife, my friend , is from the Lord, and if you have a good wife,
love her and care for her, and give yourself for her as Christ hath
loved the church and has given himself for it.
I thank the Lord for my good wife. "The heart of her husband doth
safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do
him good and not evil all the days of her life. She maketh wool, and
flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She is like the merchants
ships, she bringeth her food from afar. she riseth also while it is yet
night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
she considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she
planteth a vineyard. She girdeth her loins with strength, and she
strengenth her arms. She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her
candle goeth not out by night, she layeth her hands to the spindle, and
her hands hold the distaff. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor;
yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of the
snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with
scarlet." Proverbs 31: 11-21.
My father, I thank you for giving me a virtuous woman to be my life
companion. Help me to be to her as Christ is to the church. May our
lives together bear fruit for your glory, and may we walk together, hand
in hand with you, for a threefold cord is not easily broken. In Jesus
name. Amen.
