 Run with Patience the Race That is Set Before Us.

    "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12: 1,2.

    Let us as Christians run the race so that we might receive the crown. We are called to be saved, and called to lose our life in our Savior so that we might gain eternal, everlasting life, but we must be willing to walk as he walked, and endure afflictions as he did, and be a partaker of his reproach and his suffering in this present world.

    Seeing that we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, we as Christians are in the arena of life and all the host of heaven, the host of hell, all the saints that have gone on to glory, and those who are yet alive are in the grandstands to see how we will run the race of life and to cheer us on.

    We need to put aside everything in this life, whether it be spiritual or material, which would tend to weigh us down and hinder us from doing the will of God. We know that we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ and receive for the things we have done in our bodies in this life; therefore, we ought to keep our eyes fixed upon Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, and like him, for the joy that is set before us, endure the trials and afflictions and minor annoyances of this life with full assurance that one day when the race is run, we shall share in his inheritance, behold his glory, and be as he is.

    It is better to suffer afflictions with the people of God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a moment. We must be diligent lest that for one tiny bit of advantage or comfort in this life, we do not dishonor God and sell our birthright and lose our reward and inheritance.

 What did Jesus say? - About light?

    Up until the time that Jesus was born, the world was in a state of deep spiritual darkness. There had been no communication from God for four hundred years since the prophesies of Malachi, silent years in which every man seemed to do that which was right in his own eyes without any regard for the things of God, much as it is in the world today.

Isaiah had prophesied that there would come a time that the light would be turned on through the coming of the Messiah.
 "The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shinned." Isaiah 9: 2.

Jesus Christ, the light of the world had come to seek and to save that which was lost and give light unto the world, but even after his coming into the world, the world was in such gross darkness that even though the light was shinning, it was necessary for God to send John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness, to declare that the light had been turned on, and to tell the multitudes to "Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world."

"In him was life; and the life was the light of men." John 1: 4.
"Then spake Jesus again unto them saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." John 8:12.

We who have been redeemed by the blood of Christ and born into his family, have the light of Christ dwelling in us. We ought to keep our gaze upon him so that we will reflect his light to the world around us, even as the moon reflects the light of the sun.
Jesus said: "Ye are the light of the world. a city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5: 14-16

 Let us pray that each of us who are his will reflect the light of Christ and his salvation to give light and hope to a lost and dying world.

Jesus Washes His Disciples' Feet 131 It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. 2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer Jesus Washes His Disciples' Feet 131 It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus answered, "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me." 9 "Then, Lord," Simon Peter replied, "not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!" 10 Jesus answered, "Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you." 11 For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean. 12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. "Do you understand what I have done for you?" he asked them. 13 "You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. 18 "I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture: 'He who shared my bread has turned[1]against me.'[2] 19 "I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am who I am. 20 Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me." Jesus Foretells His Betrayal 21 After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, "Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me." 22 His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant. 23 One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him. 24 Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, "Ask him which one he means." 25 Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, "Lord, who is it?" 26 Jesus answered, "It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish." Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. 27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. So Jesus told him, "What you are about to do, do quickly." 28 But no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him. 29 Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the festival, or to give something to the poor. 30 As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night. The New Commandment 31 When he was gone, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him. 32 If God is glorified in him,[3]God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once. 33 "My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. 34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." Peter's Denial Foretold 36 Simon Peter asked him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus replied, "Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later." 37 Peter asked, "Lord, why can't I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you." 38 Then Jesus answered, "Will you really lay down your life for me? What Does the Lord Require?

What Dose  the LORD Require?

How shall we approach unto God the FATHER to worship and please him?  Shall it be by our good intentions; our good deeds; our church attendance;  the giving of our tithes and offerings; the expression of our God given talents; the loud music and the clashing of cymbals? NO! Some of our churches and so called worship centers, are so dead and void of the presence of the Holy Spirit, that even God himself is not there.

The only way that we can truly worship the FATHER is through our LORD and Savior, the LORD Jesus Christ, God;s only begotten son. Jesus said:"No man cometh unto the FATHER but by me." We must approach unto God in the name of Jesus, acknowledging that we are sinners and have nothing in ourselves to offer God, except his grace and forgiveness  of sin, and that "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him shall not perish but have everlasting life."John 3:16 

What does God require of us?  To accept Christ as our Lord and Savior; be  justified before God through Christ, and trust in his righteousness alone for our salvation; love mercy and truth, and be led by the Holy Spirit.

^"Wherewith shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?  Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?  He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" Micah 6:8

The New Life in Christ

Jesus said: For us to be saved and enter the kingdom of heaven, "we must be born again" - that is- we must be born in the spirit and become a new  person. 

When we accept Christ as our LORD and savior, God performs a miracle in our lives. In God's mind we have been crucified with Christ and died to our old nature, and risen wih him to a new life in the spirit. Then, having experienced the new birth in Christ, God expects us to grow in our faith and knowledge of him , and put away our old sinful habits and nature, and lusts of the flesh and be led and guided by the Holy Spirit.

" This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness  of their heart:  Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.  But ye have not so learned Christ;  If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:  That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;  And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.  Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:  Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give  to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to  the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.  Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."  Ephesians 4: 17-31

The Unity of the Spirit

"I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;  Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;  One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.  But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.  Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.  (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?  He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:  Till we all come in ] the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:  That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;  But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love."

The New Life in Christ

The LORD is My Keeper

Praise God! He meets all my needs and many of my wants. He works through his people and his creations, but I want to give him all the glory. Amen!

" I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.  My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.  He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.  Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.    The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.  The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.  The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.  The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore." Psalm 121
