What Did Jesus Say? - About Food?
What did Jesus say about mankind's
need for food?
Jesus Said: “it is written, man
shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out
of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4
Jesus had been in the wilderness
and had fasted for forty days and forty nights, and he knew what it
was like to be hungry and physically in need of food. He could have
commanded the stones to produce bread for his physical needs, but
knew if he did, he would be using his divine power selfishly amiss.
As the obedient son of God, he considered it more important to wait
upon God and trust his word and promises.
Mankind needs more than physical
food, clothing, and shelter for survival. He needs to absorb every
word of God into his heart and mind. Every word of God is true and
pure, and if obeyed will bring health, well being, and salvation to
both body and soul.
Let us take the advice of Jesus
and esteem the word of God more highly than our necessary food.
