What Did Jesus Say? - About Hunger?
Jesus said; “Blessed are they which
do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
Matthew 5: 6.
Those of us who have been “born
again” into the family of God by the grace of God, through the
sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, still live in a
heathen world full of sin and corruption. We are in the world, but
not of the world. The banqueting table of this sinful world no
longer nourishes us and we suffer from spiritual malnutrition,
because the substance of the world cannot meet our spiritual need.
Once we have tasted and seen that the Lord is good, the sweetmeats of
the world become bitter to us, and does not satisfy. We hunger, and
long, and desire for something better than that which the world has
to offer. We hunger and thirst for the table that God has promised
to spread for us in the wilderness.
Jesus told us that when we truly
desire and hunger for the things of God and thirst for his
righteousness we will be blessed and he will fill us. God our
Father will not allow his children to suffer spiritual famine if we
truly desire to be fed by him.
