When we accept Christ as our Savior and are truly "born again" - that is - if we truly believe with all our heart all that we confess with our mouth, that we come to him as lost sinners with no hope whatsoever of eternal life, and at that instant by his grace we are changed from the old to the new, we are saved. When we receive Christ's death and sacrifice on the cross as being that of our own death to ourselves and our own sinful nature and lifestyle, God the Father sees us there on the cross with Christ dying with him. We are dead in Christ.
When God the Father raised Jesus from the dead, we who have died with him, are also given new life, a new nature and lifestyle by the presence of the Holy Spirit who comes to live within us. All who have died with Christ , God will raise again to live with him forever. Christ is the first fruit of the resurrection of all.
It is fruitless for any of us to try to live a Christian life in our own power. It is impossible, try as we may to change our ways. It must be Christ in us who changes our ways and does all things for us which we cannot do for ourselves. We must stop trying to be that which we cannot be or do by ourselves to please God, and open wide the gates of our heart and invite the Holy Spirit of God to enter and take complete control of our whole being, body, mind and soul. Stop trying to be a Christian. Let Christ do all , and the love, joy and peace shall flood your soul and you will have abundant life for ever more.
Relax! give it all to Jesus, believe every word he has spoken and he will do it.
The Old Life and the New
