Take Up Thy Bed and Walk. !
By: Robert A. Searles
"And behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a
bed, and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; son
be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. And behold, certain of the
scribes said within themselves, this man blasphemeth. And Jesus knowing
their thoughts said, wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? for whether
is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, arise, and
walk? But that ye may know that the son of man hath power on earth to
forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up
thy bed, and go unto thine house. And he arose, and departed to his
house." Matthew 9: 2-7
As Jesus dealt with this man who had the palsy, he said: "thy sin be
forgiven thee, arise, take up thy bed and walk." to us also to whom he
has granted the forgiveness of sins, he would say: take up thy bed and
walk. In other words, we ought not to be held down and hindered by the
remembrance or the effect of past sins, but we are to have a new
beginning from the point where we have received forgiveness of sins..
Let us arise and walk with our feet firmly planted on the earth, and our
heart and head in heaven, because Jesus has the power and authority to
not only forgive our sins and heal our body, but also , to delete from
our soul all things that would keep us from being the successful
children of God that he wants us to be.
Let us arise and go forward and expect great things from God and strive to do great things for God..
