Thought for Today - April 7
Something for Which to Look Forward - By: Robert A. Searles
What are we Christians looking forward to today? As we begin this new
day which God has given to us, do we have something to hope for,
something that has been promised to us to which we can with assurance
look forward ?
We all ought to be looking for Jesus to come.
What a glorious morning that will be when: “The Lord himself shall
descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and
with the trump of God , and the dead in Christ shall rise first, then we
which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the
clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the
Lord.” 1 Thessalonians 4: 16, 17.
We ought to be diligently
scanning the heavens, “looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious
appearing of the great God and Savior Jesus Christ; who gave himself for
us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a
peculiar people, zealous of good works.” Titus 2: 13, 14.
Meanwhile, as we wait and watch, and long for his coming, we ought to occupy as
good
soldiers and ambassadors until he comes. “Denying ungodliness and
worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and Godly in this
present world.” Titus 2:12.
Let us rejoice and be glad. There
is a great day coming when we shall enjoy the fruits of our labor,
but rejoice today for this is the day that the Lord hath made. Let us
rejoice and be glad in it because this is the day that we still have
opportunity to labor for the Master so that when the bridegroom comes
we will have oil in our lamps, trimmed and ready to meet him.
