Why Do The Heathen Rage? - By: Robert A Searles
"Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The
kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break
their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that
sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in
derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in
his sore displeasure. Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son;
this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the
heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for
thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt
dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the
earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the
Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is
kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in
him." Psalm 2 (KJV) Bible
In spite of present day conditions and circumstances which seemingly
contradict the teaching of the word of God, and in spite of the fact
that the heathen do rule and reign, and the kings of the earth set
themselves against the Lord and his anointed, God in heaven laughs, for a
season, at the ignorance and stupidity of sinful, heathen human beings
when they think they know more than God. Then when he has them in
derision and he has had a good laugh, so to speak, let the heathen and
all the kings of the earth beware, for God has declared that he will
rise up in his wrath and sore displeasure, and with absolute authority
declare the decree that he has set his son, the Lord Jesus Christ on
the throne of the universe to rule and to reign forever over all the
kingdoms of the earth.
All those who remain heathen and reject Christ will be cast down and
dashed in pieces like a potter's vessel. Therefore those who are wise
will kiss the son and honor him lest they perish from the way, when
the anger of God is kindled but a little. All who put their trust in
him will be blessed.
Take heed! Thus sayeth the Lord!
